It is in the unpredictable weather that one finds great landscape pics.
*
Haha! Yeah blush.gif
I mean that, if I have a macro lens, I can at least broaden up my activities if the weather turned out bad for my usual landscape photography.

Especially when I am too busy in the campus, I can shoot lotsa random stuff like my watch. hmm.gif

Yuck. Pay more for a new system just to be downgraded?

Anyway, was watching my F1 fix this morning and saw this. Looks like it's used with a 1.4x TC with a D800.

Stuck in the study for upcoming exam, so I looked for old RAWs, failed shots and try to develop a bit.

Tried doing high magnification macro just now by reversing my 35 f2d. Been under the sun for sooooooo long and managed just 1 not bad look shot. Guess its time for a reverse ring or a proper macro lens

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I think I missed the focus on the eye, but handholding the lens while shooting is so tough, hands kept shaking =(

Need ID on the bug, is it a type of long legged fly called Dolichopodidae?
*
Wow! That requires a lot of patience. Good job! I am too looking to get a macro lens, not until I am able to sell my unused Sigma superzoom, can't afford to take care on too many lenses. Right now, Tamron SP90mm got my eyes. I think it's better than investing on extension tubes and raynox 250 like most of my friends suggest.

But a question tho, what is 1:1, 1:2, on those macro lenses? Which one best at magnifying?

Wow! That's a lot things to know before entering macro photography especially with those reversing lens, ext tubes, and macro filter approach. Also I've seen this weird stuff known as flash ring for macro. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Oct 28 2013, 10:03 PM)
No need so susah first la, just reverse your lens and you get instant macro. An external flash would definitely help, without any diffuser or modification it can still produce decent picture, but you need to angle the flash really nicely. I also found out that built in flash produce better result once you can balance the ambient and flash.
*
Hahaha! Okay2. Thanks for the heads up. thumbup.gif

Guess I should just shoot normally when I get the macro lens and learn more afterwards.
Also, why is it 90mm tamron is cheaper than 60mm macro? Just want to know, I guess I'll get 90mm anyway because a lot of people using it, perhaps I can get 2nd hand one.

So square, I heard the body will made out of metal? Must be real solid. But look more compact that way. Easier to carry around.

What do you think of this picture, guys? Went for a landscape, took a lot pictures.
Only this one is decent enough for me. sad.gif
Others are failed compositions, out of focus etc. Sometimes it's just too tiring. Haha!

I think getting that landscape filter set would be good now. Not relying on AF too much would be a good idea too. It beeped, but when I get to see the pics on PC, most are out of focus. The lighting was too extreme I guess.

Thanks. The grass are a little bit soft so I sharpen a bit, pixel peeper might see some noises.

If you're tripod, why don't you try focusing with Live View?
Did that, but the light is extremely blaring that looking at the LCD screen won't help. I guess a loupe would be a help then.

QUOTE(QiAnG @ Nov 1 2013, 12:24 AM)
Nice pic bro, you got talent in this  notworthy.gif

Hmm, I like the lines curving into the forest, it'd be super nice if there's something at the end of the lines, hehe, thinking too much.

Bad part I think the sun? Maybe a GND will fix this, but then looking at it longer, somehow the overexposed sun sort of ... highlights the foreground.

=.= I'm not pro in this, just giving my noob 2c
*
Ya, I think the sun is the failed part too. I took 3 exposure HDR, the underexpose captured the sun well, but when I merge those picture together... it's not working... rclxub.gif
Gonna get Cokin Landscape set soon.

Thanks for the comments and critiques, guys! smile.gif

I think he was like me when I got to try 1000D, it's like "Whooaaa!! Blur background! I did it! I did it!" tongue.gif

This, another photo I managed to develop from the fail compo. The left tree was cut in half into the frame.

Dayum man. Look at the ray from the sun, it is so natural. How did you capture that? Filter? What kind?

The more I look at the shot, the more I  drool.gif  drool.gif  drool.gif

blush.gif

That's actually a little bit fail too. The natural one is sooooo extremely bright. I didn't use any filter, should use gradual nd filter for that. Hence, I combine 3 photos with different exposures with the hope of getting that starry-looking sun. But it failed. shakehead.gif

But all is not lost I supposed.

No filter? shocking.gif  But how come the sky is so blue? And also the sun rays?
*
Post-processing. It's a digital kind of ND filter, while some people get their filter and put them in front of the glass for instant effect, I have to do it in the computer.

You can get a blue hue gradual filter to make the bluish sky. Put another gradual nd filter to get starry sun. I will get Cokin set for this to get better effect. HDR helps too. Try it.

EDIT: Fail compo is fail composition. The tree is captured in half while I can go back a little and capture the tree nicely.

Check my EXIF, I did it in Lightroom. It may be too hard for beginner, but it's really easier than Photoshop. You can try Photoscape too. Much user friendly.

how to avoid refocus in d90 when continuous shooting ar? i focus recompose technique, then burst shutter, first pic focused. second pic it focused to centre.. how to disable the refocus so that can become like d5100?
*
Continuous shooting or continuous focus? If the former as in you want to lock the focus on one focus point and then burst shoot then, I reckon every Nikon system is all the same, so it would be AF-S (Single servo). There should be a dedicated trigger near the lens for D90 if I remember correctly.

Oh yeah, it's on the body, not on the lens.
