Well give hex a try first. I already made my decision long time ago. I kinda foresee the potential of mmdoc and i guess it's showing its potential now. Hearthstone, on the other hand, isnt what im looking for. I was a WoW TCG competitive player and heartstone kinda ruined the sweet memory. I will reserve my opinions as i dont want hearthstone players come here and start a flame war. Both games has their targeted audience and doc hits the sweet spot.

well i would suggest for you to wait til it goes on open beta instead of spending 50usd on something that u not sure u gonna like it or not. i mean look at hearthstone. i was kinda looking forward to it cz i was a WoW TCG player. I was lucky that i didnt hv to pay anything to get into the close beta cz it turned out that the game was not meant for me. Better spend 50usd now on DoC and get the dual booster box IMO tongue.gif i bought twice the dual box promo. and boy was i glad to make that purchase haha

so been playing this game for like a week. here is my initial thoughts on it.

what i like about it:

1. option to play for free.
2. the resource prevents from mana screw/flood.

what i dont like about it:

1. too much grinding if you're planning to go free route
2. the heroes are not well balanced. if you look at t1 decks, only some heroes are used.
3. only one game style (no drafts). campaign is limited. haven't joined any tourneys though.
4. no interaction between players. no i dont mean chat or anything. but there is no instant spells (where u can play it anytime). so during my opponent turn i dont even have to see what he's doing cause its not like i can stop it.
5. no trading between players

@ flab

reading your comments, either you became too quick to judge, or probably just don't understand why certain things especially the business model of f2p work

well, number 2 for what you like isn't exactly true, especially now since you can see heroes like ammar and some other heroes like sandal / other fortunes that can increase / decrease them

for what you don't like about it:

number 1 isn't exactly true, if grinding meaning that you want to make 10 types of playable decks then yea, but if you need only 1 or 2 types, nearling level 50 i believe you will have so, even made easier with the altar of wishes

hitting level 10 is quite easy, and progressing from there would take slightly more time, but hitting 50 would not take too much time too i guess especially if you are a farmer and playing rush type decks, if you play necro then yea, it would take much longer at lower levels

heroes are not balance is true also, but then, most of them can fight with each other most of the time, unless certain circumstances one would stand out more, i especially don't like ammar and i stopped playing due to him for now, until they nerf him like they say they would...i could add on that certain spells and maybe fortunes too are op, and although they are taking their time working on it, they do get rebalanced after time

if you come into the game thinking that it's better to play campaign then certainly most ccgs are not meant for you, i mean, if you prefer playing with AI's, i think console based ccgs are better as they have more single player modes, and the devs mentioned that doc will extend the campaign, but just that they focus more on multiplayer aspect now, as having more players playing would be more revenue for them considering it's f2p anyway

as for number 4, i think that there are 2 types of ccgs, one would allow you to do that, one would not, yugioh and magic probably hit that, but scrolls, HS and doc doesn't, not everyone would see it as a negative and it was pointed out as a discontent in doc forums too but well, if you like the game, it can be overlooked and if you need it to be more in depth, it is somewhat counterable, not exactly stopping the spells that are played, but minimizing those spells damage on the board

trading between players would mean that doc gets less revenue overall, which means that it would be unfair to ubisoft as the game is already free

all in all, i would say that some people would embrace the f2p concept, some would not, and some would say that the prices for seals may be a little too pricey, some would not, especially currently they are giving discounts on packs and all

i think being f2p is a pretty good business model for doc as scrolls could not withstand the buy to play model after having a slow progress overtime, sales of that is stagnant now but new players could adopt doc and decide whether or not to spend money on the game

for me, f2p is win win. why? because

1. not in a hurry?
- dun spend.
- log in 7 days in a row, get free gold, seals.
- the true free to play path.

2. do not wish to wait?
- spend some real dollars on seals
- buy some boxes
- enjoy

Well I said I've only been playing for a week, and those are my initial observations, so yeah I'm probably judging to quickly.

I'm not against f2p at all, in fact this is the only reason why I'm giving this game a go. The fact that you can have an equal decks to those who paid, makes this game a whole lot fairer than those that give special stuff for paying customers.

It's just that, I'm hitting a wall where I want to improve my deck, but to do that I need to grind with the deck that I want to improve.

I guess I'm just impatient haha.

About the different types of game mode, I wasn't talking about campaign but drafting (construct own deck based on packs during match).

What decks you guys play? I'm currently running a lousy inferno decks. Been buying those reinforcement packs, but seldom get useful stuff for this deck. Perhaps time to try another hero?

inferno is the quickest and best to play at low level, besides crag hack i guess now, which is in the stronghold faction

i started out with inferno, and moved on to necro when most of my good cards is now in necro, but somehow got a sidedeck for inferno and sanctuary

good cards for inferno are in reinforcements, and also herald of the void, if you got most of your inferno cards already from that, go for hotv as it is purchasable now with gold too

core cards are lilim, juggernauts, hellfire bloater, maniacs and depending on how your deck type is, maybe void caller or void arbiters

Hi flabbergasted, i dont say this is a good or bad thing, but in card games to make everything perfectly balance is kind of almost impossible. If you look at other TCGs on the market, u will see at the top tier tournaments, there will be quite a few type of decks/strategies that kinda swarm the whole tourney.

However, like what LostWanderer has said before, every heroes has a chance on beating each other, just that some circumstances might give a little advantage on the other. But your skills in this game matters more biggrin.gif
