Bring your opponent hero's life to zero before your hero is defeated. You do this by deploying creatures, fortunes and events and by casting spells.

Every army consists of 1 hero card and 5 event cards. there are 16 positions on the battlefield where cards can be deployed. the decks can grow from 56 to over 200 cards when you add in creatures, spells and fortunes.

Get to know your factions:

There are 6 different factions (Haven, Inferno, Sanctuary, Necro, Academy, Stronghold). Each offer special powers and opportunities that will help you win the game.

The hero you choose will determine which faction your army is. Your hero also determines your starting levels and life. Each hero has access to a number of special schools of magic.

Personal view:

This is a card game, similar to Hearthstones, MTG and perhaps, Scrolls, but in the Heroes 6 setting, by Ubisoft. I have not spent a single cent on this F2P game, and have been playing around a month now, and currently sitting at 1350 ELO (about 1200 ELO there before the new patch released a few days ago, which enables you to hunt down specific cards you need much easier). Rewards come as you play (hitting achievements), level up (gaining exp winning or losing) and also found online with codes (http://www.reddit.com/r/duelofchampions/comments/1n777x/free_codes_for_new_players/) - with constantly adding new ones and removing old ones as well. Matches are fairly easy to find, takes around 20secs max, but usually found withing the first 10, matching you usually from 0-500elo, 500-1000elo and 1000-1500elo, and yes, cards and strategy both play a role in this game so if you don't have the right cards in your deck, some other players may be impossible to beat until you find the right cards. There are people who hit 1500 ELO without spending a single cent too, but if you would like to support ubisoft / this game, feel free to use it to buy stuffs you want from their online shop.

Otherwise, the game is pretty cool for CCG players, especially those waiting for heartstone or have played before MTG (from what i heard). Do try it out as you don't need to spend a cent on this and the download is ard 400mb i believe.

If you wanna add me: UnkwnWanderer - uplay name.

Cheers!!

opening a replay:

C:\Users\YourUser(e.g. abc123)\AppData\Roaming\Ubisoft\MMDoC-PDCLive\GameData

just drag and drop your replay file to game.exe, after logging in it will start playing. you need to dig it out from your replay folder and put the file with your main game.exe folder

if you use steam to play the game, check it in your STEAM folder (under the DOC name)

2 interesting matches on how to play malik:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/qj2r5v - vs slowpoke dhamira

http://www.mmdoc.net/show_deck/16082/

inferno rush, best used to farm i guess, with short matches too

Daily rewards - collect from 8am daily, if you break your chain before 1 week, all rewards will be gone, thus sign in at least once before the next 8am comes (+8gmt)

Game format:
Standard
Play vs other players online to climb the ladder and gain ELO points, going above 1k elo will award you 50k gold from an achievement

Daily tournaments: 8pm changes daily (2 types)
1) Jackpot
Earn lesser gold per game, but if you win at least 3 rounds with 90 t(tournament) ELO, you earn much more gold comparing to playing normal mode, free entry

2) Swiss
Play vs 7 other players, need a tournament tix to enter, which can be gained from daily rewards or even achievements / bought with seals
Win at least 2 rounds in a row to "confirm" your place to be in 2nd, without losing any rounds before the 3rd match, if you do, you will get a booster pack from the latest series, in either normal or premium format, and 3 wild cards too

Wild cards - a form of currency to get the cards that you need - obtainable buy purchasing packs / boxes
seals - the main game currency, best used to buy boxes, especially the latest version as the packs are only available through seals - obtainable through leveling up (playing the game) and using real money to buy, and sometimes codes too (free input for redemption)

Well, not exactly true...but it was almost everyone agreed that if you start with inferno / necro, the ladder climb and earning gold is much easier than other factions. This is only when you hit the 1k ELO though, that is when you are playing against other better people with better decks then you may want to do the same / improve your current deck.

I started out with inferno, but due to the fact that i got "lucky" with some necro cards, i changed when i hit the 1k elo point, and got stuck at ard 1.1~1.2k elo there due to the fact that i was missing some vital cards to move the deck further, but with the newly released expansion (forgotten wars), you are now able to buy specific cards much easier with no random rng involved.

If you stopped due to the fact that you can't get the cards you want, try playing now and check out the new system.

As for spending money, the devs at ubi are handing out free codes as well as some other sites that give you free seals, gold and packs as well, so it's pretty people friendly i would say. Besides, if you play often enough and level up, you get free seals and gold too.

Oh, and luck of the draw for both you and your opponent is quite important too, one wrong draw from you or a better situational draw from your opponent may cause you to lose the game, and vice versa. This is a card game though, so yea.

@ Deimos

THANK5-4-THE-F4CEBOOK-LUV

MMDOC-H4S-THE-B3ST-FANS

5ORRY54TURD4Y

TH4NK5FBF4N5

WE-ARE-NO-TROLLS

These are "probably" working for now, if you found a bad code there, it may have expired.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/static/duelofchampions (enter this website to claim another code)

It does not need a power pc to play the game also, as it is also developed for the ipad, so anything could most likely run it =D

well, there are decks that can win "most" of the time, but can still be won if your hand is still better than it, or perhaps, a main counter to that type of decks, but the catch is that, it is entirely weak to other type of plays, and with that, lose most of the time

kinda like rock paper scissors, but you need to be able to change your paper into a scissors with either the right draw or right deck

in other words, sometimes you may have the feel that some things may be imba but with the right deck / hero, you can win that battle most of the time

necro is really weak against lock decks, strong against creature decks, but doesn't mean that it can always win against other creature decks too, depending on draws and also other heroes

most necro creatures hit 2 damage, but some other neutrals can hit higher (dark assasin, pao deathseeker and shi-no-shi are the best neutrals to use)

main reason why necro hits not much is probably all heroes master dark magic, kills a creature instantly / switch sides, so dmg doesn't really matter

sanctuary is best against lock decks (and can lock decently as well), and it has pretty good creatures too, especially with the new expansion...lock decks are also weak against water magic (strength of the sea) as it negates fortune effects

anyway, game card list can be found here:

@ unker

yes, no ban hammer if u auto quit to remain at 500elo, those are known as farmers

and for the hero, the poison counter will only be useful most likely during late game, or if u dun need the extra card

there is another hero that can instant kill your creatures if they have a poison / crippling counter on it too, which is more useful

people play nergal more for slowpoke game though, stall and kill you in one turn

also, the other option to not encounter those types of people who auto quit is to make your elo above 1.1k, but if you are above that level, which means that you are aiming for 1.5k elo, which will be an uphill battle most of the time due to luck of the draw and hero matchup, lul

if u buy serious box, it will take a long time to buy that, most people will buy the 1k box and use the 120 cards inside there to build a stronger deck and get more wins that way and buy another booster, much faster that way

farmers and new players are in low elo bracket, hit above 1k elo and you find serious players most of the time

ya man, the win 30 duels u guys will be feeding me for a while, =p

usually you will find those disruption tactics in fortune, mainly inferno, as it is a mill / rush deck

winning a duel nets you ard 700 exp ~1050 max i think...1050 is a very long battle though

1 type of each unique with same name only can be played in the deck, meaning only 1 doom bringer but you can add another unique, eg, shi no shi

wiping field clean got a few ways, usually with magic

insect swarm x 2 + 1x earthquake
armageddon
tsunami
song of the lost + ice splinters (most famous combo)

fortune there is throne of renewal

if you wanna watch your replay:

C:\Users\YourUser(e.g. abc123)\AppData\Roaming\Ubisoft\MMDoC-PDCLive\GameData

just drag and drop your replay file to game.exe, after logging in it will start playing.

And yes everyone can watch replays after logging in with ANY account.

frankly though, i did not manage to get it to work yet on my side

shi no shi is powerful, but most of the time it will be sitting in your hand until late game (around over turn 10)

and worse of all, it's a spell magnet, but it's really hard to kill though

if you manage to keep it on the field, most of the time the match will be won

it has darkness ward, so that helps a lot

@unker, have been playing for i think 7 weeks or so, i think...=D

anyway, that creature that banishes is a void keeper, a neutral creature, not many people play that, but it's kinda good vs necro especially when atropos is going to die the turn it is deployed...otherwise, there are other better creatures out there for that value

milling is done with inferno and academy, academy only available in forgotten wars though, so it's kinda expensive playing it now

best card for inferno mill is hall of amnesia, maw of chaos, garant purge and larcerator, hall of madness and chaos rift is kinda situational though, but not many people run chaos rift i think

there is also chaos imp to reduce hand size and also void arbiters to stop everyone from drawing cards...

just so that you know, if you drop an atropos as your last card from your hand, and if something requires you to throw out a card everytime you play a card, you need to throw out 1 card you obtained from your atropos back into the graveyard =D

haha, it's probably one of the games i'm playing now only, furthermore, 1 game usually last at most 15min or so

there are people who became lvl 100 in about a month...>.<

anyway, milling is a term from magic, meaning discarding opponents from deck, maybe hand too

i dunno, some other people still think mtg is the best though, up to each own personal taste i guess

heartstone, most claim its more shallow but probably some would like it more due to it

anyway, win streak i think hit 13/14 ledi for now, lul...dunno when will be my next lost...XD
