To all Malaysians with an international passport, do you notice that our number starts with an 'A' on the first page, but on the inner pages, the numbers punched into them are without the 'A' character? Now I am confused, what is really my passport number? Is A12345678 or 12345678?  rclxub.gif

This is important when we buy air tickets online or applying for visas......

why u need to refer other pages ? look at the 1st page!

I doubt this. Look:

How hard is it to include the character 'A' in the numbers on page 3?  confused.gif

I am pissed off on this because on my recent trip to China, I bought air tickets giving the number according to what I saw in page 3 (without 'A'), but for the visa the Chinese embassy was using the number with 'A'. I have to waste time clarify this twice in China immigration checkpoints.  ranting.gif

Why put two versions of the passport numbers? Somemore the wrong version are printed much much bigger and more visible than the correct one?!  bangwall.gif

Really wish those a**holes who are responsible for this make this disappear in future versions.

u dun understand, dun simply blame people. already putih2 put on the page, passport numbers u go and put numbers only.

I'll be going to Japan in the next few months under an student exchange program, I wanted to get a multiple-entry visa but the lady at the embassy did not ask (my fault for not checking) so I just assumed everything went swimmingly. I had plans to visit nearby countries other than Japan but with what I have right now I won't be able to. Anyone here has any experience on this? Like is it possible to change to a multiple-entry from a single-entry? If not, can I reapply immediately or do I need to wait a specific time period? Thanks..

My understanding is that you are not applying for a toursit visa, as none is needed. Hence that single entry visa is for you to get into Japan and then proceeed with the necessary steps to get your Japan ID. Then you can travel in and out anytime you want.

Ah yes, thank you for the information. I've reached out to my nearest consulate office and they assured me that I will receive a residence card which can serve as a multiple-entry permit.
