Beijing, Dec. 22 (ANI): China has declared it is building a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

The size of the carrier will be huge enough to rival the biggest in United States naval service in the first move of a major new arms race.

According to China Daily, Chinese website qianzhan.com said 'top People's Liberation Army' sources as saying the 110,000-ton aircraft carrier should be launched by 2020.

The news follows rising tensions in the South and East China Seas.

The design of the carrier is reportedly based on drawings from the former Soviet Union of a nuclear-powered, 80,000 ton vessel capable of carrying 60 aircraft, the report added.(ANI)

KUALA LUMPUR - Sebuah helikopter Nuri Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) melakukan pendaratan cemas ketika melakukan tugasan keselamatan di kawasan Pulau Perak, dekat Kedah, semalam.

- Bernama

sure the lads up in RMAF did a great job keeping the bird intact (and thus also cementing the venerable status in of the S-61/sea king), but i bet the man hour per flight hour gotta be high due to aging fuselage, stress fatigue, etc

after all teh "high-profile" spending ends, i hope we can replace them asap. sure AW101 is good (since it is designed as like-for-like replacement for sea king) but i'd take new Mi-171 as replacement. it's cheaper(1 AW101 = up to 5 Mi-171),battle proven and versatile enough.

sure it has it's weakness (being slow is one of them, though other more obscure fact is that Mi-171 cannot operate effectively in higher altitude, the reason why PLA still retain their S-70s),but for me, i'd prefer a hi-lo mix of more capable helos in smaller number (for spec ops, CSARs and inflitration deep in enemy line, etc) and less sophisticated helos in larger number (general transport, humanitarian effort, etc)

I still prefer government get more ec725 mayb in the mix of utility dan csar variant.
chinook is great for heavy utility workhorse for us.
Spec ops heli is very much needed too mayb we should opt for blackhawk instead.
