Yeah, shouldn't be if both types are of the same quality. Sometimes, the interconnects have an impact on the sound which is most often overlooked.

The 3.5 mm cable is the one connected to your pc's sound card, the slim wire, the fatter wires are connector to your speakers.

You just need a stereo to stereo cable, correct me if i'm mistaken.
I'm using a MX5021 too, with PcWork stereo to stereo cable, attached to an Audigy 2 ZS.
I'm very happy with the sound, compare to the stock cable of course.
When i'm playing NFS:C, the engine sound go boom boom laugh.gif

PcWork is our new cable guy. Damn ......... you're talented ...... you can probably upgrade all the internal wiring for AL MX5021 and rename it as AL MX5021 PcWork Edition. rclxms.gif

AL has those USB powered speakers for your lappy but they're more expensive but they're portable of course. If I'm not mistaken, they're in the range of RM200 to RM300. If you're not looking for portable ones, maybe you can let us know whether you want a 2.0 or a 2.1 system and of course, your budget. smile.gif
