siap my diy mod
no pic becos didn't prepare camera, already pasang balik all biggrin.gif
next time i take first

got my capacitors from old player and use LAN cable as subwoofer cable (experiment)
this is not a true sucessful one, bring in something good and some new problems.

good:
no hiss at MAX volume liao (unplug source)
instrument seperation at higher treble

bad:
"pak pak pak" sound for each volume step i increase or decrease rclxub.gif dulu don't have
tweeter response dragggg...... a bit "slower" become harsh

now let it run for a few hours, hope to see improvement biggrin.gif

why la no pics =( faster go open balik

are you sure you used the correct/still good condition components? you shouldn't get pak pak and slow tweets if good mod
if using 2nd hand components no need to burn/run in. should be good to go

Hi there, new guy joining the club here... been using Altec speaker since about 10 years back. Below are the list of Speaker that I owna and still kickin'.

ACS45.1
321
BXR1121
FX3021

One thing i'm not understand and need all the sifus here to give me some advise.

The FX3021 i just bought it during the recent PC Fair. Sounds is good but unfortunately the left speaker is making cracking sound, either during watching movie or listening to music. It's connected to my TV. Soemtimes it won't come out some times you'll hear that very obvious but it won't "crack" very long though.

Any advise on this?

ADA885 is great. it has dual 'amp', the one beside the cone and inside the cabinet. the sub has dual voice-coil too... but easily get hot when idle...

Thanks for the reply. How do i apply that WD40 into the TV headphone jack? Won't it cause any short circuit on that? Thanks for your advise. Looking forward to hear from you again.

spray directly(but not ridiculous amount... think logic) and clean it up with cotton bud?
don't worry,it won't short out your tv that easily

give it some time for wd-40 to settle and dissolve the crap then wipe it off...
maybe like a minute or two
when you clean it out it should come out dirty

Oh thanks.. hm.. thought of using some cotton to clean directly like that. Spray on the cotton and poke into the hole. Let's see is there any dirt coming out from the jack...

i bought my ADA885 from college friend, it's been running perfectly for 6+ years but the hot idle temp is worrying me, i'm thinking of putting a 'cooler' like what i did with the z cinema, but there's no place to put so. any idea?

ada 885 got double amp... one inside and one outside.... the one outside is cooled by the bass tube... the sub one inside as pictured above gets minimal cooling, which can get hot fast.... adding a fan is useless in this case... probably changing the the heatsinks to larger copper plates works better
then again at the end of the day... too much work/$ involved unless you want to fully overhaul your treasurebox

actually the one outside is the one i feel hot when idle. they aren't exactly cooled by the sub cause the port is both releasing and sucking the air as of the excursion of the subwoofer.

exactly, too much work involved if i decided to install a heatsink in either amp, probably just leave it that way...
