Getting Started

|
Im using g1wc bought from forumer here atah. So far so good. I bought the usb 5v adaptor to connect directly from my car fuse. Looked tidy and no messy cables tingling around. I hate that. Haha. I sprayed the g1wc cover and buttons with matte black plastic dip to make it less obvious.
Future project, get the smallest DVR without lcd screen and connect it to HU.

QUOTE(mydragoon @ Feb 13 2015, 02:31 PM) i'm finally planning to get one for myself... planning to get what the others have mentioned... G1W. say on GearBest. Going for slightly less than usd60 (inclusive shipping). i know GB agents are on some other forums, so might be able to get some discount code from them... so just sharing another option, in case anyone is keen: http://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_67201.htmli've submitted a price match thingy with GB. let's see if they can match or offer even better. got reply from GB. item: http://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_67201.htmldiscount code: GBG1W with code, I have been told it'll be usd41.99. recall reading the price used to be usd30+. if can find any such valid deal/ price, I guess can nego further with GB. I'll probably shop a few more days to see if there's a better deal. after all, these sites like GB won't be able to ship anytime soon. long break in China.

I'm just curious.. with the g1w-c, how long can the capacitor last? I mean, that's supposed to act like a battery, right?

Recommend me a camera for recording. Be it Dash Cam or Action Cam. Hope to get some precious comment.
Budget : RM200/RM300+- Requirement : 1) Must be 1080 full HD. 2) Video during night must be good, coz travel alot during night also. 3) Able to see number plate clearly.
Those are the 3 things that must have, currently thought of G1W. Any other camera that can beat G1W and satisfy the 3 conditions?

I've been considering using action cam to double up as dash cam. one reason being action cam got built in battery, so no need cables. was looking at sj4000 till XiaoMi announced their Yi Action Cam... This post has been edited by mydragoon: Mar 4 2015, 10:21 PM

Those are the 3 things that must have, currently thought of G1W. Any other camera that can beat G1W and satisfy the 3 conditions? I bought a dashcam that looks like G1W 1 to 2 years ago. It's not good, don't buy it. There are several problems: 1. After 3 minutes moving, it will stop recording the same file and begin recording into another file even when the car is still moving. There are some lost frames/seconds when it switched file.
2. Some files can't play at all after recording. Not all but some. What if that file contains accident scenes?
3. The video can be quite shaky. It's not smooth.
4. Day vision is very clear but the night vision is not clear enough, sometimes I can't see the number plate at night.
5. The file stop recording after we stop the car in traffic light for a few seconds. But I still want to record because what if some car bang my car when I wait at traffic light?
Can anyone recommend me a dashcam with none of the above problems? This post has been edited by jalsrix: Mar 8 2015, 04:34 PM
