Juz bought my sexy z1 yesterday. Overall it's seem nice as I expected. 21xx with dock included. But Im wondering antutu showing the screen is IPS instead of TFT? Dunno whether it's true. Lol. Many ppl r worrying about the screen. For me, it's not tat worse that u think. B4 I bought this z1 I was also worrying about the screen issue. That's critical due to I was s3 user. Also, some say that Sony 'should' have used similar-or-better screen quality in the Z1 since they have done so in the XZU and the Z1 is an even newer product - what more with the Z1's launch price being very close to the XZU's launch price even. For this matter, IMHO - it is all about costing. The RnD and material cost for the Z1 camera may not be cheap after all, and Sony needs to to some cost-cutbacks (in the screen maybe?) to be able to set it at a competitive price. +1 for second paragraph.. |

I'm no expert of this thing, so i would like to ask, why there are so many people complaint about the viewing angle? alright, just finished the Z1 workshop at the curve and here's some of my opinion
hands-0n:
it is definitely big, but indeed very very well designed... at first i worry about the weight, 170g is not a light phone. but holding Z1 in my hands, it doesn't feel that heavy actually.
bezel, my other concern also after looking at the pic in internet. turn out, i wasn't giving any attention to it at all... the beautiful design of the phone make you forget about it.
overall, with the nice design and some weight, it really feels a premium device
screen:
turning on the screen, wow... it is very bright and sharp.
comparing to the XZU - straight on, i do not seem to notice any significant difference. viewing angle, as expected, not as good as XZU
comparing to XZ - straight on, definitely Z1 better. have noticeably better colour and contrast. viewing angle also Z1 better than XZ.
speed:
no doubt very smooth. i open message, phone dialer, album,... all open very fast and i have no complain about it
camera:
i am no expert in photography. but comparing the pic with my acro s, the pic in Z1 definitely looks sharper, but grainier... dunno what's wrong though
timeshift burst is what amazes me. one touch capture 61 pic. 30 pic before press, 1 pic when press, and 30 pic after press...the ability to scoll the 61 pic looks like a short movie
loudspeaker:
dunno how to test but sounds loud enuf for me
what else did i miss out... pricing... when asked, the presenter just said it's not official yet and said it'll be around 2300
oh and QX10... saw the presenter pair it with Z1. after paired, i notice the display on the Z1 lags abit when he is moving the X10 camera around
conclusion... i'm sure most will concern more on the screen. my advise, don't listen to some genius who have not even seen the real device in person. i think it is a very good display, only the weak viewing angle... straight on definitely no issue. go and test the device yourself and see if it a deal breaker for you. u'll have to see it to belive it. in fact you do not need to listen to me as well, just trust your own eyes...
