I would rather queue for Note 3 than a Nokia Lumia 1020 at its price tag. For its overall OS performance and limitation the price tag is overpriced.

Reason is simple free samsung gear. While Nokia grip if made in china might worth RM60 or RM70 while the samsung gear can reach RM500 - RM900

2nd If u used a note 2 you know why its worth to get note 3. All my notes all mostly written by s-pen.

My contacts on the phone are link to google contacts while my contacts on lumia making a mess in my live account.

The main selling point is the S-pen. You can draw, you can crop, you write text, you can colour and if the s-pen is too far away from the phone it will tell you.

Nokia free gifts are getting crappier and overprice now. Back then when Nokia Lumia 900 u get a free monster headset dude. Its call giving massive value but nokia value is at least we gave you something than nothing.
If you have follow nokia products. Nokia practice limited stock to show that there is high demand but actually its not.
Nokia store got example 30 units that the maximum sold out u need wait 1 week for stock new arrive.

Samsung practice everywhere got stock until sold out.

agreed 1000% +100000 siifu

all of you who are considering buying this overpriced underpowered phone please go buy Note 3. I don't want you all mainstreaming my 1020 LOL

3. hox->Nokia Lumia 1020 Yellow + Black  tongue.gif
One thing to take note on the 1020 screen is, it was a 2.5D gorilla 3 curve screen, so SP always had problem to fit at the edge of the screen.
*
Yellow my cousin 'forced' me to sell to her, so I bought the black one for replacement and after few days usage, yellow too funky and bright for old people like me....and you all mainstreaming yellow already hahaha

This week bloody busy at work, haven't even test the camera and still using my blackberry..

Finally got time to test the camera and now abit less intimidated to post here since i m no photography expert sweat.gif
posted below are resized 5MP version to fit the forum, 100% crop if from 5MP. No editing except the downsizing and cropping.

Thoughts on Lumia 1020 camera
From a person who has been using Pureview 808 for long time, I think Lumia 1020 is definitely worth the upgrade if price is not an issue. There are clear and very noticeable improvements in term of overall operation and focus speed, colours, bokeh, sharpness and especially lowlight performance, thanks to f2.2, BSI and OIS. Although missing the extra settings in 808 (eg. ND, sharpness, saturation controls), 1020 still managed to produce higher percentage of sharp in-focus photos with good colors rendition for me than with 808. For those who never bother doing any post-processing on desktop, Lumia 1020 photos is ideal as they can be used without much further tweaking with the higher saturation and sharpening compared to conservative 808. They might looks Samsungy oversaturated on screen because the default screen colour is boost up ala Xperia Bravia engine. On desktop, they just looks about right.
Will test night shots when I have the time soon.

Thoughts on WP8
This is my first WP experience and I have only one thing to say - aesthetic and UX/UI-wise, it's at least 5-year ahead of iOS7. Love the minimalism, suits me as a designer perfectly. Despite the imperfection when comes to features and apps, the simplicity and typography win me over.

yup, right from the camera...no post-processing

the OIS is huge when comes to image sharpness even for daylight shot. I have alot of 808 shots that are out of focus when view at 100% crop. Manual focus is faster and more accurate too. The 4.5" screen also helps a lot.

Your 808 shots are out of focus or blurry? Two diff things.
I had tried 920's manual focus and it's great. Wish my 808PV has it too haha.
Those are taken from 5MP files I think. Need to see the full resolution file which I think 808PV is cleaner (except in low light?).
Yeah one thing I don't like in 808PV is the focusing performance. Even the infinite focus distance is not perfect.
*
blurry because out of focus hehe

its actually both blurry of movement without OIS and out of focus due to failure to have proper focus lock.

btw, the super wide angle is really great for architecture and interior shots.

just found the setting to lower screen saturation, lowered 2 notches and the colors are more accurate now.

Take note that wide angle only works on 16:9 mode shot, but less pixel.

4:3 had more pixel but angle was less wide.
*
if your shots do require a wider angle, the 2MP diff is worth it as you'll be getting real wider angle, unlike every other smatphones out there that have 'fake' 16:9

Didn't notice that 1020PV's lens is wider by 2mm focal length.
BTW, do you still have your 808PV with you?

The other great improvement over 808 is wide angle barrel distortion which is very bad with 808 for subjects like people at the edges of a shot. With the new 6 elements lense in 1020, almost all distortions are corrected despite the wider lense

Hi, bro. Those photo u transfer from phone to pc then only upload?
Looks really nice
*
hehe..no la, this shot was cincai taken to show the barrel distortion point while stuck in stupid jam yesterday, then upload via imgur uploader...

i don't border with the hires version for non-critical day-to-day shots, will backup via desktop probably once a month..for special events or holiday shots, i'll do backup the day after them. auto-backup 41MP pictures via my already slow UNIFI is not a good idea.

anyway, just got a cheap RM20 TPU case from lowyat 3rd floor (or 4th?). Its minimal and protects all sides including the camera hump by 1mm, comes with non-rainbowy sp also (good enough for the time being until better case available)..i know i very the clumsy one and guarantee 100% will drop my phone one fine day and crack the screen..

green lizard was sharpened because of the thick glass blurring the edges. the rest were default camera sharpening.

Just got myself a Lumia 1020 today. Upgraded from 920.
Definitely satisfied with the camera plus the other best thing about this new one is that it's lighter.
Yellow Matte finish is really nice since it's not that slippery like the Gloss Yellow 920.
Faster, very noticible. 2GB ram is nice.

Now to test some shoots.
*
Ya, the first thing that surprised me was the weight as I thought with the bigger sensor it will be definitely be heavier than the already heavy 920, so it was a pleasant surprise...and I love the N9-like matte design way more.

Btw, I thought the stills are good until I tested the video today with my friends...wow, beat all their latest smartphones by a wide margin in term of smoothness and stability..the OIS is really a big help together with the huge sensor, it looks almost buttery close to those taken with my RX100 for daylight shots...and the other 2 killer features - lossless zoom and manual video focus..can do all kinds of those creative shots...weirdly the Note 3's 4K videos actually look worst than 1080p on 1020 (framerate drops sometimes, and bitrate is weirdly low for 4k) hmm.gif
