Snap is actually an app or a software? Sorry for asking dumb questions. But from forum, every1 is so raving about Snap.

SNAP, is an app, that essentially is a third party made front for Google Playstore. What it does is that, it asks you for your Google ID and password, and it will log in as you, to Google Playstore. Essentially, you are technically browsing Google Playstore, since you can run .APK files, but you cannot run Google Services.

In a few months time, this may be moot since BlackBerry is now partnering with Amazon for APK.

If you're unsure of what on earth is going on, go and read up here,

http://utbblogs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=573

It will give some clues.

But essentially:

1. Consumer apps are now readily available via APK, via Amazon App store. (which should be a win).
2. Users who are locked on to native Cascades (especially if its controlled and fully locked down via BES 10/BES 12) will continue to enjoy apps that are already there (native, no port) from BlackBerry World.

BlackBerry will essentially be dealing with multiple vendors, with 2 app ecosystems, native Cascade BlackBerry 10, and Amazon services.

That's why you use Amazon app world.

there are ways that you can remove Google dependenicies, but depending on how deeply integrated it is, really.
As far as I know, there are things that you can actually yank out and make it work, like Google Maps, and to an extent, Ingress.

I'm still hesitating to get a BB. Last time had a 9700. The experience was good except for the dreaded hourglass wait. Then changed to my current S3, which is a shitty phone. Lags like hell.

Many told me BB is a dying company. My playbook was the best tablet I had, the multitasking feature is 2nd to none but the apps and games were poor.

Still trying to convince myself to get a Z30.... :'(

BlackBerry just reported a small profit last financial report, with their cash inhand of 3 billion (if I remember correctly) and with their new ceo cutting down costs, I highly doubt they're a dying company, even if they are, I doubt they will die anytime soon. Honestly if you want to just dip your toe in the bb10 os but don't want to splurge too much cash, get the new z3, available in first week of July for RM699 but from what I've heard about the z30, if you can afford it, it's the BlackBerry phone to get now (unless you're a qwerty bloke). Honestly I used to be like you, doubting BlackBerry's financial state, afraid of biting the bullet, but I just took a leap of faith and got myself a Q10 and no regrets smile.gif

What the man above has said, get it and you wouldn't regret unless you're a keyboard junkie, and I felt it too. Wanted to get the Z10 when it came out, but took a Xperia Z instead because my friend in Singapore said it's a dying company. Looking back, I hated myself for not getting it else I would've two of BB10 awesomeness.

Apps is not a problem with BlackBerry anymore, neither the hourglass if you go for Z30 biggrin.gif you can install Snap and apps from Google Store is there for you. Sifu hyperyouth_firepower explained how snap works several posts up smile.gif

Take the leap, you won't regret leaving your S3 behind smile.gif

Does the phone lags when running non-native apps (Android apps)? Had enough of lags with my 9700 and S3.

Will android sucks it memory and power? My S3 sometimes feels hot hot no apparent reason and I need to kill all apps. A stupid smartphone!

Spending RM1.4k means a big leap when with that kinda money, there's a lot of choices.

If you're coming from the S3, you probably want to try the Z30. I would not recommend the Z10, nor the current Z3 (unless you can wait for the Z30).

You should try it now as well. You can sideload and play games and stuffs with it. Please remember apps that uses Google Play Services will not work, or work properly. Google Framework is not supported at all.

If you need to ask anything further in spesifics, please feel free to. We're here to help. I won't sell you potential, I'm only promoting what BlackBerry devices can do right now.

Hi guys,

Just got my Z30 today after my Z10 dead last night. Still adapting with size increasing..i have small hand, lol

My opinion, I think its a waste to put Blackberry wording under the screen just up to the bezel. I'd love if the wording Blackberry are engraved on the bezel itself so the screen can be stretch a little bit more, hence it look more premium...like engrave on Porsche Design Blackberry series.

I bought it Rm1380, Brightstar warranty (2 years) at Subang Parade. Perhaps other place are more cheaper. I did not have much time to survey at other place since I need a phone urgently.

I not sure what happened with my Z10, but I plan to repair it this weekend

Saw from iPMart. Only RM50 cheaper. I guess the price is in this region of below RM1.4k

BTW, your unit is LTE unit or just 3G? Heard LTE unit is a bit more expensive but the hardware is much better.

Now, need to save some money...

Mine is LTE STA100-2 model. I'm not sure what the difference between 3G model & LTE model for the Z30. But for the Z10, the LTE model are better, less problematic than 3G model..speaking from experience.

If online sellers say the warranty is from Blackberry, does it mean from Brightstar?

Most likely yes, but you can always confirm with them prior to purchase.

Just curious and I know there a lot of difference between Z10 and Z30 but wanna know apart from hardware; is there a big difference in terms of usability and user experience?

Z10 is only RM700 while Z30 is double the price. Is it really worth to get a phone that's twice as expensive? Need frank feedback on this coz it's just playing in my mind that 2x the price for a lower spec phone can be a tad too much!

Z10 can do what Z30 can, right?
