but if RX-17 offers 3D screen, it might be a good choice, as i wanted to play in 120Hz mode, sometimes in 3D.

3D is not viable one la bro laugh.gif
And not everyone is cut out for 3D, some will have headaches and vomits after using 3D for too long haha XD

I also wonder when I can get a new notebook haha laugh.gif
My M14x is still going strong lol~
Maybe will ask putochip123 sifu to help me replace the components so that it can last even longer haha  laugh.gif
*
im fine with 3D. laugh.gif
just need the 3D screen to run games on 120Hz only, 90% is for that more than 3D.

just buy an Inspiron 15 7000 full spec, save your hassle. laugh.gif
or Inspiron 17 7000 if you like bigger screens.

Won't external monitors be better picks? hmm.gif
But up to you la haha, I'm just saying haha, not really familiar with 3D tech XD

Illegears are very tempting, but at up to RM8-10k, its not exactly very cheap also haha, for that price I would "subconsciously" expect them to last 8-10 years haha XD After all, RM1k for one year is pretty rational no? XD

Entering next stage of life haha, expectations and expenditures also need to change already as there are bigger things in life now  sad.gif
I think I should try to find some ways to prolong the life of my m14x~
*
i wish i could get external monitors too. just the problem is, i might constantly travel in the future, so i would prefer a high performance laptop with 120Hz screen.

if you wanted to prolong your m14x life, just regularly service it like a car will do a good job. smile.gif

btw.. Illegear have different cooling system isn't it? after ROG.. want get other brand... wan get weird2 brand... else i go build desktop.. but problem is.. i owez travelling  sweat.gif
*
both are same or less. alienware's internal parts are armored, mainly to prevent dusts enter the mainboard. that makes the an advantage but if you are planning to rip it apart, it takes a lot of tough works. laugh.gif

as for illegear, the internal parts are 'naked', dust enters easily (main disadvantage) but therefore the parts removal are easier.

i hope the P375SM comes with 3D screen but too bad, have to wait as only P370SM only have it. sad.gif

Hi,

Would like to know how the following compare with each other in terms of specifications (CPU, speed, price etc.). Weight does not matter. TQ.

1) Acer  V5-551G-84552G1T
2) Dell Inspiron 14 (3420)
3) HP Pavilion 14-N010AX
4) MSI CX41
5) Toshiba Satellite S40T
6) HP 14-B151TU
7) Lenovo Z480

Hopefully someone could help me choose the best laptop for my needs. In a huge dilemma right now sad.gif

Lenovo Z480 outperformed all of them. smile.gif

And I can't risk spoiling it, too much pending work @_@

not the brand lah  doh.gif  You need to see what is inside a model from each brand. For laptop used for gaming in your budget, go with as powerful a GPU as you can get.
If you just want to know the spec and RSP of the models you listed, go here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2656663

If your budget is around RM2k and your need is gaming, aim for models spec with GT740M.
Btw, follow the suggested format in the 1st post. Nobody know what kind of "dilemma" you are in you know  cool2.gif

this is the price from the retail shop. they are also negotiable btw.

im wondering that you had bad experience with Dell before, therefore you dont prefer Dell as Dell has a cheap option that you might like. hmm.gif

Preferred Brand
Any, but prefer reputable brands.

Budget
RM2000 - RM2500

Usage
Mostly programming, might compile heavy code.

Preferred laptop/screen size
I'll bring it around, so prefer not larger than 13", smaller the better.

Thanks for the help!  notworthy.gif

sorry for not replying. sometimes, we are busy we our personal life and sometimes newer posts will push back older ones. this is truly 1 case that i cant evade.

as for your requirements, it is quite hard to find a small and good laptop for heavy programming. the only 13" that are nearest to your budget :

Acer
S3-371-53334G50, i5-3337U + Intel HD4000@RM1999, 4GB, 500GB, W8

ASUS
S300CA-C1033H, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768;touch)@RM2299, 4GB, 500GB, W8

Dell
Vostro 3360, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000@RM2249[1.67kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB; colors: red/silver/bronze

HP
Envy SpectreXT 13-2215TU, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD@RM2899[1.39kg], 4GB, W8,backlit keyboard

Fujitsu
UH572-MYEAK20015, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000@RM2819, W7HP, color: red

prices are RRP and negotiable.

2. Budget : Rm1600 max
3. Usage : Office usage, surfing(5-10 tabs) and entertainment (flash games & some light gaming got desktop for heavy one flex.gif )
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : at least core i3 sandy/ivy bridge, min 4GB ram, 13-15", for gpu anything better than Intel HD2000 is enough
*
Dell
Inspiron 14-3437, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400@RM1399[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), 4-cell; W8SL@RM1549

2. Around 2.5k
3. Entertainment, watch movie/drama/video , and some gaming
4. 15.6' prefer i7 core
Anyidea?
*
i dont think you need a core i7 for entertainment purposes. the only main purpose of it is only when you want to utilize something that uses heavy processing power. anyway :

Dell
Inspiron 15R, i7-4500U + AMD HD8850M (GDDR5) @RM2499[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), Linux, 65WHr; W8SL@RM2699

Lenovo
Z510, i5-4200M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2399[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 yrs, color: white

keep in mind the Dell uses an ULV CPU which is different from consumer lines.

haha, i dont see that as a complain. im just telling the fact why sometimes forumers are being ignored, because some forumers tend to treat us like an ass, like we got paid for replying in the forums. so i hope both of us wont get it wrong either. icon_rolleyes.gif

anyway, good luck on hunting a laptop. icon_rolleyes.gif

PS : i personally like this 'Windows Macbook', the Dell Inspiron 14 7000. you can now feel the premium build quality of an Apple for RM2699.

nope it isnt. why do you need a touch screen? constant poking the screen will loosen the hinges and most likely in the future, you will have creaky hinge.

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand but God please no Acer and Dell.

3. Usage: Gaming (Guild Wars 2, other latest and retro games)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: either 15 to 17. My concern is 15 is too small for ex-desktop user, hence please give your 2 cents regarding this.

it is true but the G750JX did a lot better than the GS70. colours on the GS70 are totally washed out and not real. ASUS on the other hand has poorer viewing angles, colours washed out easily on simple turn.
