Won't external monitors be better picks? hmm.gif
But up to you la haha, I'm just saying haha, not really familiar with 3D tech XD

Illegears are very tempting, but at up to RM8-10k, its not exactly very cheap also haha, for that price I would "subconsciously" expect them to last 8-10 years haha XD After all, RM1k for one year is pretty rational no? XD

Entering next stage of life haha, expectations and expenditures also need to change already as there are bigger things in life now  sad.gif
I think I should try to find some ways to prolong the life of my m14x~
*
i wish i could get external monitors too. just the problem is, i might constantly travel in the future, so i would prefer a high performance laptop with 120Hz screen.

if you wanted to prolong your m14x life, just regularly service it like a car will do a good job. smile.gif

Brand: Asus, but willing to budge to get the best value.
Budget: 2k - 2.5k. Cud go over by a few hundreds. The lower the better
Usage: big dragon age fan. Looking forward to inquisition. So spec wise mite be based on the game. They use frostbite 3 engine same as battlefield 4. So i'm using BF4 as indicator. Means minimum and recommended requirements are as the link below.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-...specs-confirmed
If u can get as close to the recommended specs eithin the price range, wud be awesome!
Screen size: i guess 15" wud be good.

Sorry for the long post. But i truly appreciate ur time n effort in this. Its coz of u guys this community is so well versed in techs n all. Thank you! biggrin.gif

new laptops with Windows OS in the market currently are pre-installed with W8. Business class laptop still has W7P.
No brands are releasing Win XP drivers for new models any more. (you realise MS Windows has gone through Vista, 7, 8 ... and 9 is already on the work biggrin.gif )

If you buy a laptop with W7, there is a build-in XP mode.

You should install whatever legacy applications you are using onto machine with W8, and try to run it in compatibility mode to see if it work. Getting stuck with legacy software is no fun.

Laptop is particular bad on running old OS since lots of the components are not off-the-shelf.
You can probably install W8 on old laptops, but getting Win XP to run on new models perfectly (without official drivers support from brand) is quite a challenge smile.gif
