now donno too much or too little... but heat is worst that before.. think need to bring it back to lyn and ask ppl to re-install for me

It's better if you apply your own thermal paste. Search around the web for guides. For Arctic Silver 5 go here.

either u didnt skru it firmly or the paste is totally crap sweat.gif if u open case is worst something is wrong...ermm u need to apply the paste as big as a rice grain no bigger also make sure u apply it in the middle or u proc so that its spread evenly onto ur proc for best results... nod.gif

I follow the instruction on the manual.

for the screw-part, i screw until i need to apply pressure, then i tighten it a few time.

for the thermal paste, i'm using those provided with the 9700. and i apply it based on what the manual says. I've tried to apply a grain-size on the top of the cpu, then use the hst to spead it, but the temp is worst that it is now.

i've change the hst pointing location and re-apply the thermal paste. Now the temp is idle-ing bout 49-50.

what weird is that core-temp register 46-49 ; tat register 49-52 ; and speedfan register 36-39 ...

donno what's wrong now...

tat temp lar... but nevermind, found my answer liao.

From what it was said, certain C2D CPU (like my 4300), the temp from TAT and CoreTemp will register higher because they compute directly from T-Junction. One way to check is to open CoreTemp and if my T-J is 100'C, then my temp is taken from T-J instead of T-Case
Most ppl who hit the same problem as me just -minus 10~15'C off.

T-Junction = CPU's junction between core. (hottest part of the CPU)
T-Case = the part on CPU most ppl measure, especially when they're doing OC.

For me, T-J = underneath the CPU cover, and T-C outside the CPU Cover. brows.gif

Sry for the confusion .. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Edit:

Check out these two forum I've read.
AnandTech - High temps when overclocking with core temp
Core 2 Duo temps - been doing some research, does this sound right ...

these are the wrong guidlines.
basically. the noctua would be a better choice though the TT BT performs well givne the price
so it comes down to the price

This is how you do it:

Step 1:

user posted image
Apply the thermal paste to the middle of a
clean CPU surface. Use at a size of two rice grain.
Do not spread the paste.

Step 2:
Install the cooler following the installation
instruction of your heatsink.
After the installation is completed, rotate the
whole cooler a lil bit to the left and to the right to help the heatsink to spread the thermal paste by it's own.
