Hey, I saw you in soyacincau. What they say is right. 4k video capture is not supported. Not sure if this can be fixed with firmware.  biggrin.gif

i must've missed the word 'capture' back then XD but well, same hardware, capable camera sensors. just matter of the availability of codecs (which is possible to be add in, the hard way of course) isn't it? or i'm missing something?

Its camera feature. Hardware wise, it need to be able to save data at high speed when recording 4k video.

4k video streaming into your phone require huge buffer. You should hope that UZ hardware is able to support
that and can be enabled through firmware. hmm.gif

I think it can capture (Snapdragon 800 supports 4K video capture) with the right firmware tweaks.. but then for capturing maybe you're right coz it will take huge memory power and the slightest OOM will make the capturing fail. how i wish it's 3GB ram in XZU

Sony is heading to right way to come out with S800 processor phone. But in terms of RAM, I don't know why Sony never want to become leader in coming out with more RAM.

Probably Samsung is RAM maker sweat.gif

true that sony is a little late but this year Sony is very aggressive with its Z lines. I see a bright future in the effort and i'm satisfied enough for now (although still envies the camera on Z1 sweat.gif )...maybe 2nd half of next year will consider another beast, hopefully with S1400 chipset and 3gb ram as baseline for high end beast

Indeed. Really applaud Sony's effort this time around with Z line. Fast firmware updates to fix bugs etc. Am a Samsung - HTC convert, but now will indeed stick with Sony until I see what's in stored for us in 2014. thumbup.gif

Why are you so obese with 4K video recording ? It's still a very new tech currently and to get a 4k TV or even a tablet cuz u a bomb . Having it on Note3 is a bonus . Not having it doesn't make any difference . And with XZU current camera , do u think a 4K video will be good in quality ? Do note that most forumers resort to 3rd party camera app to get a better quality pic since stock camera app isn't that good , in fact , for a main stream device , it sucks . I rather Sony do something about their camera app then to hope to implement a 4k video recording .

It's about time they do so since they cant even be top in their own country for smartphones . Brands like Fujitsu and Sharp are the dominant brands in Jp . Before this , all their main stream new release devices are 1 generation behind the latest . Xperia S , Xperia Z . Price wise however r reasonable since they r not so new . Until XZU , i dont recall a unit going over 2k for RRP but i might be wrong . 1 thing is for sure , looking forward to the day Sony can do something logical like putting the " Sony " logo on the unit and not on the anti shatter SP . Or I presume it's gonna cost a bomb to change the default SP at Sony outlets

i am not (yet) obsess with 4K recording, really. I'm merely stating that it is possible to do so on XZU with the right customization. so chillax cowboy, i'd get a proper camera if i am obsessed on camera features. for me phone camera is always a on-the-go thing, can't expect a top-notch image from such small image sensor no matter how good the camera app is smile.gif

Based on what fact ? Both running S800 proc ? Or r u a developer with knowledge to know about it ? If u want a proper camera phone , XZU is not your choice . Z1 is your choice .

S800 clearly states that it supports 4K video capture . therefore it just the matter of tweaking with the software. and hold your horses with your assumption that I wanted a camera phone. Read carefully and don't put weird accusation.

Can. The new version of the PPSSPP app has the option to even re-map your PS3 controller buttons if not mistaken.

Like I state before cowboy-wanna-be , how do u know its only software related , not hardware ? Sure , S800 supports but how about camera's hardware or any other factors ? Just because S800 supports 4k video and Samsung did it on Note3 doesn't mean other models can do the same , running on the same processor . . It's like saying " my dad is a man so any men outside is my dad " . That is what I'm trying to say

About this 4k recording thing. Chipping in neutrally. Although s800 supports it I believe u need some components to tell the s800 that "OK we can do 4k recording" and then the firmware also has to allow it.

It probably needs some resistors and a small control chip for this. Who wants to crack their unit open for r&d?
