QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Sep 4 2013, 05:39 PM) Yalo, funny guy. I'm not angry at the xzu. It is a nice phablet. Ony want correct information. Only IP58 phablet is fine by me I change to Phablet now, if joytest can find single phablet on earth that is IP58, I will removed that sentence. Andrew you are an IT guy...there is a difference between 586A and 586B cable termination isn't there even though it's all Cat5. |

About this 4k recording thing. Chipping in neutrally. Although s800 supports it I believe u need some components to tell the s800 that "OK we can do 4k recording" and then the firmware also has to allow it.
It probably needs some resistors and a small control chip for this. Who wants to crack their unit open for r&d? |

alexng2208 voila
It's all about planned obsolescence. Note3 will probably get a 0.2" upgrade to 5.9" after "listening" to customers |

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Sep 6 2013, 02:40 PM) QUOTE(thatisazam @ Sep 6 2013, 03:14 PM) If you prefer to debate on this, mind give me your sources saying that 4K support requires more than just a firmware tweak on the supported chipset? need a dedicated image processing chip also like HTC One's UltraPixel camera? Bro, see my post about this just nowI am giving example on which features are constrained by more than just chipset support. I am (again) saying that it is possible to enable the 4K video capture on the device by tweaking something in the firmware but you just don't understand it. I don't mean that we have the tweaks ready, but instead I'm saying that it is possible because once the chipset supports the feature and there's no other hardware requirement for capturing the video at 4K that ZU lacks of (unless you got source say "note 3 able to capture 4K video because of S800 paired with xxx hardware/yyy Android version which made it possible"). As you might have known, the photos taken from the camera got better in the current firmware than the firmware it is originally shipped with. Image processing is software algorithm, sensors are just receiver. The manufacturer will decide what to give in the firmware because they have various reasons like who would need 4K video capture feature, do they have the codec to bring the update, will it affect firmware stability, etc. but doesn't mean u can't customize the features with custom roms if u have the knowledge to do so. my view is strictly as an opinion saying that the feature is possible and can be made available into the phone with the right tweaking on firmware level. and u peeps takes opinions way too seriously. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=63003079 IF they requisite switches are there, then FW can enable it. If not, then please get your soldering iron ready. |

QUOTE(62802820 @ Sep 7 2013, 03:48 PM) If ure a stylist person, who like to do everything with finger, pen or pencil on a huge screen, like to play games on smartphone and has ur own personality, go for xperia z ultra. I thought being "trendy" is a focus on fashion, of which the XZU obviously has loads of.If ure the type of person who like to use a special design spen which only designed for note 3 only and like to follow trend. Go for note 3. Ur choice. I'd qualify pen or pencil use on the XZU as gimmicky at best. |

QUOTE(rayzrblade @ Sep 12 2013, 02:10 PM) Why would u say yr ram is struggling? Ram is just space for apps to run. Low free ram means either lots of running apps or good memory utilization by the os. Lots of free ram is not entirely desirable in a modern os. |

QUOTE(Fazri9900 @ Sep 12 2013, 03:38 PM) already call sony..if want to change pay rm1100...the screen protector come with the lcd..so if want to tukar..kena tukar semua..haih...rasa nak peel of n ganti screen protector yang baru je...coz I cannot look that calar2.. The sheet on the screen seems to be laminated on the screen, and it takes some force to remove. I suspect the bare screen may not as strong as standard Gorilla glass. After removal there is no functional impediment to your device use, just that for some weird reason your warranty is gone. |

QUOTE(thatisazam @ Sep 12 2013, 04:58 PM) yeah well u gotta admit with rainy season, u wouldn't know when u'll be soaked wet and won't have to worry about ur phone. or when it's hot n u dnhave to worry about the sweat corroding the 'leatherback' of ur phone I would venture to say that I rarely hear of people having phones spoiled from rainsoak (at least in MY). It seems that with the advent of so called "waterproof" devices, people have started adopting a more callous attitude towards care of their devices, thus leading to increased incidents of water damage.I've seen more of people dropping their phones in the SEA (ffs, don't go to the beach without protection), in buckets, rivers and accidental spills. Whatever the case, water and electronics never mix. Waterproof phones should merely be treated as an insurance policy rather than tempt fate with callous use. |

QUOTE(Hertz96 @ Sep 12 2013, 05:11 PM) Actually yea. The leatherback thingy from Samsung was for me a no brainer. I don't really like the look of it. I would have been happy if it was still made out of that durable unsnapable plastic. What to do? Times have change, people want premium feel. But I'm not really sure about the White leatherback as White leather easily kena dirt. Haizzz. I wanna get the White one, let's see after 2 of my friends buy. It seems that it's textured plastic molding, not faux leather laminated on. So it will still be durable, and I believe you could remove the cover and wash THE COVER (not the phone!) if you are inclined to do so. |

QUOTE(un_id @ Sep 12 2013, 05:20 PM) ya i hate sony now for the damn shatter proof film… the person who given idea for the shatter proof film should get fired! very non-practical idea.. REALLLLYYYYY?????? I am not an avid follower of this thread yet I still know that the shatter proof sheet is factory laminated.QUOTE(yupio @ Sep 12 2013, 05:28 PM) But yeah...better still if totally do away with factory shatterproof sheet. Safe the hassle of removing it / replacing it. My 2 sen is that the Sony glass is fragile and not Gorilla quality. They need this sheet to reinforce the glass and also act as a film to stop the glass shards from flying all over WHEN your screen shatters. This is like the Llumar anti shatter films or any other tint film on your windscreen. It also gives the wrong impression to people coz many thinks its supposed to be screen protector and SP are supposed to be scratch proof but this That's why they call it the "shatterproof" sheet. |

QUOTE(yupio @ Sep 12 2013, 05:54 PM) Factory laminated shatterproof film is understandable but to be told to replace the whole screen just to replace the film is ridiculous. They should've made the screen with something like gorilla glass in the first place then and do away with the crappy film. You are right, there isn't anything larger than 6" that beats the XZU. However its size is both a blessing and a curse. No male has yet been able to pocket this properly and sit down without resorting to cargo pants or taking it out of the pocket.Thing is, I still want the XZU reason being its the only commendable spec 6~7" screen phablet out there. Overall design wise, its still cool from the thin and light profile, aluminium bezel. It's like I don't have any other comparable alternative out there. |
