QUOTE(biatch0 @ Feb 1 2014, 06:39 PM)
You can try but I doubt anyone will exchange it for you unless you are really buddy buddy with the shop (even then I still doubt it). I don't think the SNZG comes with any guaranty of accuracy (not that I'd expect a USD100 watch to come with one).
*
You got a point there but, are these automatic watches, at least normal, to be faster by 30 secs per day? I think that's too much for a reliable company like Seiko, no?

QUOTE(Jason @ Feb 1 2014, 08:30 PM)
If its under warranty you can send it back for inspection.
*
I hope that inspection doesn't mean have to pop the back case up? Sigh. I think I'm very unlucky.

QUOTE(BigMan123 @ Feb 1 2014, 08:43 PM)
Insist there is something wrong. Its consumer rights
*
I am very annoyed by it. Even if I have to send it back and never get it back I can do it. I just hate the watch so much now.

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Feb 2 2014, 05:39 PM)
It could very well be magnetized.
*
Anyway to like de-magnetize it?

Is it normal for a automatic to go faster by 5 mins is a week? Meaning I have to reset the time every often week? I have literally no experience in automatic watches at all.

What about those expensive watches? Do they guarantee accuracy of +-5-10secs per year or something?

Sniper, i particularly interested to know what you think since i knew you are a into photography and horology.

If you are to use the same amount of money and allow to choose between a:

1) Leica+Summicron lens
2) Rolex

Which will you get if only can choose 1?
Which will you get 1st if you need to prioritize?
Why?

Off course, others please feel free to chip in.

I'm just asking, not gonna spend money on the above anytime soon.
*
Rolex for sure. Everything digital.. even leica turns to an outdated paperweight in a couple short years.

there might be better ones out there but the best auto i've personally seen so far on paper is the GS with +-15sec per month

Frankly speaking, right now, the prices of Rolex - used pieces is on the high end side, not talking about special or limited ediiton ones, just the normal mass marketed ones.

As for Leica+Summicron lens.. the body is definitely not worth it, but the glass yes. The moment the glass is discontinued, the prices will go up, provided its a good lens to begin with. You can see today that older, examples of good discontinued Zeiss and Leica lens still fetch a high price with hot demand.

New Rolex will always be technically more advanced than the older ones e.g. cerachrom bezel, newer movements are introduced into existing lines as time goes by.

Choosing between these 2 is drastically different. If you took 100000 pictures with the lens, then definitely it is more worthwhile than the Rolex. If you took pictures of your baby growing up and that fast prime lens made the difference between capturing the moment and missing it, then yes, the lens is more worthwhile.

So in the end, it depends on you. I would get the Rolex because I don't take that much pictures anyway.

Do read up, spring drive is a hybrid. In short Quartz regulated but mechanically powered

but from the comparison on their website... its similar to normal mechanical watches except for the escapement

if its semi quartz/mechanical... then its more similar to Tag's Calibre S electromechanical movement?

Not all semi quartz / mech is same as tag.
Spring drive do make use of a quartz escapement

Hi,

I am stuck between Omega Constellation Co-Axial 38MM Day-Date steel on steel and rose gold on steel. Anybody here wearing one of these?

I see. Thank you.

Time to save up for a better watch then.

What do you think of Maurice's movements? Are they accurate?

I just saw a Maurice Les Classique Chronographe in the Garage sales going for RM5k. Within my budget. I think I'd like to get it.

Noted. TQ.

Anyways guys, thanks for your input. Think I'll just have to reset it every week. Only concern now is the gasket, and maybe should just give it a regulation.
