Is it Rolex S.A., or third parties? I saw lots of special/limited by third parties but have yet to seen those by Rolex itself. The watch thread v7

If its in great condition I think its worthwhile.
That being said I don't think any GMT watch is as good as the GMT Master II range.. because the of the way it works. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 22 2014, 10:19 PM) u do know omega have quite a few different GMT watches... few of them based on ETA 2893? isn't that the -fake- GMT? out of all..only the PO is somewhat hawt to me... but that asking price is just a stone's throw away from BLNR.. bleah...2534, 2535, aqua terra, planet ocean... and yes, oris worldtimer works the same. small dial is home time, 2 pushers on bottom left n right is quickset hour for main dial. EDIT: BLNR is RM27k, what's the going rate for PO GMT? This post has been edited by Jason: Jan 22 2014, 10:48 PM |

Personally I feel *real* GMT watches is really useful. I honestly have no real use of chronographs, except the dials make me look "cool" and "sophisticated".. can't blame me.. I was young, and the chrono I bought was a Tag.. so yeah..
As for GMT.. when i was travelling i really wish I had a quick and easy way to tell time at home, and even in KL I want to quickly know the time in New York and California, lazy to always whip a phone out. If you travel, and I'm sure all of us do plan to travel sometime in our lives, the GMT will come into use. The chrono.. I guess unless you're a sports person or racing driver.. Just my 2 cents. |

QUOTE(r3kahsttub @ Jan 24 2014, 10:32 AM) I don't know why people debate over GMT. If I need to know the time in KL when I am abroad, I use my phone. Hey, I have an app for that. Just saying. Well, not a debate. Like you said, you use your phone. I prefer to be able to glance at my time piece and..tell the time. If I preferred to use my phone, no real use for my time piece other than being a jewelry. QUOTE(Everdying @ Jan 24 2014, 10:41 AM) ironically, for a *real* gmt, the first rolex gmt masters didnt have a quickset function... Yup. True that, but I assume back then they didn't have the mechanical know how..until GMT Master II was launched.anyway... http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.ph...ic,11763.0.html I kena poisoned by the BLNR.. but no stock in dealers to look at the real thing. Then again the same can be said about many watchmakers. Some worst than most, Perrelet for example. |

If you really like it, regardless how much you make, you'll justify to yourself its worth it if you like it that much. wansirpunk For your industry, I think its ok since you won't don a suit and tie with it. the watches you listed is more rugged but definitely earns respect for work pieces. |

QUOTE(Randy Marsh @ Jan 29 2014, 09:32 AM) Thank you for your valuable information's. I don't collect vintage watches. I just wear one non-vintage watch. But unfortunately, I can't afford that kind of luxury watch just yet. Are you a huge fan of watches ? You collect vintage watches as well ? As for being able to afford it.. identify what you want (goal), map out a strategy to reach that goal. If you want a Patek by 30 years old..then you better start planning for it.. e.g. if you continue working where you are will you be able to afford it? will you make it to department head? or lead a sales team with commission? its the same for everything else in life... QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ Jan 30 2014, 11:49 AM) i was at ur shoe just last week. wanted to get either the three. But i change my mind and aim the new GMT Master 2 Day & Night instead. I just saw the BLNR on my flesh 2 hours ago. Stock just in yesterday. Only 2 pieces. People on the waiting list not in town so if you want it now is the time. PM and I'll tell you where if you want to go cash and carry.IWC - god knows what happen to them. Glashutte - the ones that hit me is as expensive as $32k, the Senator Chonometer. Omega - the moon landing was a hoax. lol just kid.. it tried to be Rolex. The blue was a bit too bright blue.. Not what I had in mind. I liked the black with green hand more. Rm29k for the BLNR. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Feb 3 2014, 01:14 PM) Depend on how you look at it. Cheap.. Would it be more accurate to say they make tool watches for the everyday man and fairly priced? Its inexpensive, timex has historical roots in making cheap watches, it looks and feels unmistakenably inexpensive but its honest and functional. Most ETA movement swiss watches don't cost that much to make. Marketing costs the bulk of it. More of a luxury good rather than a tool to tell time. |

QUOTE(hidden830726 @ Feb 3 2014, 10:58 PM) Sniper, i particularly interested to know what you think since i knew you are a into photography and horology. Frankly speaking, right now, the prices of Rolex - used pieces is on the high end side, not talking about special or limited ediiton ones, just the normal mass marketed ones.If you are to use the same amount of money and allow to choose between a: 1) Leica+Summicron lens 2) Rolex Which will you get if only can choose 1? Which will you get 1st if you need to prioritize? Why? Off course, others please feel free to chip in. I'm just asking, not gonna spend money on the above anytime soon. As for Leica+Summicron lens.. the body is definitely not worth it, but the glass yes. The moment the glass is discontinued, the prices will go up, provided its a good lens to begin with. You can see today that older, examples of good discontinued Zeiss and Leica lens still fetch a high price with hot demand. New Rolex will always be technically more advanced than the older ones e.g. cerachrom bezel, newer movements are introduced into existing lines as time goes by. Choosing between these 2 is drastically different. If you took 100000 pictures with the lens, then definitely it is more worthwhile than the Rolex. If you took pictures of your baby growing up and that fast prime lens made the difference between capturing the moment and missing it, then yes, the lens is more worthwhile. So in the end, it depends on you. I would get the Rolex because I don't take that much pictures anyway. |

If everybody bought watches because of functionality.. we'd all be wearing G-Shocks.
Rolex without its prestige, its recognition, the fact its been worn by the world's most powerful men.. is just a This post has been edited by Jason: Feb 6 2014, 10:14 AM |

QUOTE(ridox_orimabu @ Feb 7 2014, 02:38 PM) Zenith have quite a number of model. which one is the grail? Hmm, the El Primero 36000vph 38mm for me. Not the Striking 10th. I doubt anybody would argue against the El Primero movement. |
