QUOTE(wil-i-am @ Nov 9 2013, 07:36 AM) My fren in law managed to top up RM20k @ ASNB few years back Adding RM100 each time is just too tiring for me, drive to the bank, car park ticket, wait, wait and wait. Ha. QUOTE(davinz18 @ Nov 9 2013, 04:06 PM) I think got someone managed to add 25k @ AS1M, can't remember when? Very lucky guy! That will be equal to going to the bank 25000/100 = 250 times (assuming RM100 strike each time)! Hope for better strike rate and larger amount for me. Cheerio.

I went to a bank to try topping my my ASX the other day. The gent there told me that the ASNB office was just a few meters away from the bank and they have better facilities for this topping up. I replied that I have been there before and the queue was very long.
Not disrespecting the teller, this ASX topping up is not that difficult, enter account number, IC number and then the account balance. See if there is any available for the amount one has entered.
Workwise, maybe a 30 seconds job. Then why the general resistance in helping customers to buy ASX?
Just airing my observation (and also frustration. Ha)

Some sharing on my top up journey.
Went to RHB 3 times over a few weeks. Outcome? ZERO!
Some success at POS & CIMB ( RM100, 1000)
Rockie at this game. Need some guidance from the more experienced ones. PM to me the tips, please! Ha.
Any one with some strikes lately? Maybe everyone is now keeping their units. Ha.
Cheerio.

Out of curiosity, contacted ASNB on whether my purchase amount should match exactly the amount a unit holder has sold his/her units.
Reply is, no. Purchase will be successful if the purchase amount is equal or less than the amount available for sale.
Lately, a BIG ZERO success strike rate with my trips to the banks and ASNB on the top-up. Any one with some success? Date and amount?
Cheerio.

QUOTE(richygirl88 @ Dec 11 2013, 02:23 PM) non-bumi. why lucky? lucifahToday manage to put another RM50k .. Total is RM60k So if i withdraw all by 01 DEC 2014.. the interest will be count from JAN to NOV 2014 (11 months) ? Let say the interest is 6.7% again So the dividend will be 3685 + Rm60,000 Total = RM63685 Sifu my calculation correct? and i lose interest for DECEMBER 2013 whole month? I have been trying so hard lately and my strike rate is very low. Now reading your 50K (in Wawasan I presume) just put a knife into my head! Ha. How did you do it, if you don't mind sharing? Thanks. P/S Most of the bank staff I talked to said Wawasan is the hardest one to get. And yet, 50K for you! My salute to you! Ha.

QUOTE(richygirl88 @ Dec 11 2013, 03:06 PM) I go to their branch and put my passbook with them. I give commission RM50 for every Rm10k they put for me. Next few days gonna put RM50-RM100k again. So my calculation for dividend above are correct? I see. Speaking my mind, ASX is about 2% better than FD. So, this 10K will give you an extra 0.02*10000 = RM200 extra pa. So paying RM50 for the effort is worth it! How can I find one staff like this here? Ha. For the dividend calculations, I better leave that to the sifus here. Thanks for sharing. Cheerio.

Just sharing a story on how difficult it is to get ASW2020.
One bank staff told me his experience when one guy sold off RM10k of Wawasan (non bumi) via the teller next to him while he tried to purchase RM5K of Wawasan the seconds after the other clerk entered the RM10k sale.
Guess what? Did he manage to get the RM5K? No, someone else managed to get it before him! Looks like there is an inside circle at work! Ha.
Cheerio.

QUOTE(hyelbaine @ Dec 13 2013, 08:43 AM) Inclusive of PNB's own branches and its agents, there's more than 1700 branches/locations where one can transact their unit trust product at any one time. As you rightly pointed out, there's someone trying to add to their investment every minute that these branches are open. Wah, did not know that there are more than 1700 branches. So I am competing with some 1700 potential buyers when I try my luck. Interesting. Cheerio.

QUOTE(richygirl88 @ Dec 14 2013, 02:01 PM) I seldom use cheque. only cash because she tell me cash is better. Once the transaction is done with yellow receipts, and printed on passbook, then she will call me and i will take the cash to her. Basically, all the time she do it for me first and only i pay to her. its a mutual-trust anyway. Wah, your mother's friend is indeed a friend who takes all the trouble and potential risk in doing the top up for you. Hard to find this type of friend. Treasure, grow and enjoy your new found wealth! Cheerio.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Dec 14 2013, 03:18 PM) the account belongs to my client. Ya, "my client" is a diplomatic way of saying "myself" lah. Ha. Is there a maximum limit for non bumi in ASM, AS1M & ASW? One thread mentioned about a max where the amount above that max will not get any dividend. Scary if true. Thanks.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Dec 14 2013, 04:02 PM) modal = principal ASB has initial principal investment limit of 200k which can grow every year, depending on the dividend. it's like a container. your container limit is 200k. but after a yr, the container will expand a bit to accomodate the dividend. if you take out the dividend, your container size remains at 200k + dividend. if you leave it like that, the container will eventually expand very very big I see. If I understand this correctly, there is a limit on "fresh" fund top up once 200K is reached. No limit for add-on dividend. Right? Thanks.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Dec 14 2013, 04:16 PM) yes. but there's also another case - ASB balance inheritance. if you inherit the ASB account from, let's say your parents, you will automatically have whatever in their account + the initial investment limit of 200k Many thanks for the insight. My parents do not have ASX account. So, no extra money on that front for me. BUT I can use that for my children (if I got any left later). Ha. So this 200K limit is per account and transferable when one passes away. Cheerio.

Rather quiet on this thread now.
I am new to this ASX. Historically, do we usually see more ASX sales before the Xmas and New Year? Hope so.
Ditto before the Chinese New Year?
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all the ASX thread participants!!!

QUOTE(MysteriousBabe @ Dec 19 2013, 04:29 PM) ASB's historical dividend + bonus payout: 2007 - 8.00 + 1.00 = 9.00 2008 - 7.00 + 1.75 = 8.75 2009 - 7.30 + 1.25 = 8.55 2010 - 7.50 + 1.25 = 8.75 2011 - 7.65 + 1.15 = 8.80 2012 - 7.75 + 1.15 = 8.90 2013 - 7.70 + 1.00 = 8.70 For the past 6 years data, EPF dividend's pattern (increase or decrease) seems to follow ASB's pattern. With this slight drop in ASB rate, I hope EPF's rate will not follow it but increase as EPF has done well in the 3 quarters this year. Cheerio.
