How much can you get by changing the filter?
*
I recall someone did. I dont remember the figures, but just with an air filter im guessing less than 5hp.

My little pug seems to be drinking fuel like mad. The trip monitor said it is 17.2l/km O.O I have only driven it to work and back (10 minutes away from home) and only went on the highway once when driving my new car home from the showroom. Mileage about 180km at the moment
*
Bear with it..it will improve over mileage and service blush.gif but i can say this car is not fuel efficient like Vios for example. Driving experience is nice though icon_idea.gif

Hi all,
Just a warning to all of you who are thinking of getting a 208 GTi spec (and maybe all Peugeot niche models like the RCZ):-

I had ordered a red GTi in late April and completed all necessary documentation and loan. In mid-May, I requested for change of colour to white and clearly asked that unit must be new unit and no display or demo stock. In late May, I was informed that a white GTi had been allocated. I was provided with a chassis number together with details on balance payments I need to make.

That same week in May when my unit was confirmed, there was also a roadshow by Peugeot held in 1 Utama. Many models were displayed there including my white GTi. How I know this? Because I checked the chassis number that was allocated to me to the unit on display (door panel) and it matched! I took photo evidence of this and made a complaint to the dealer because I specifically said I don't want display or demo units. The worst part was that all the interior door panels were scratched from peoples shoes and can see little kids pulling and pushing everything including the moon roof cover.

After a week of ding-dong, Nasim came back to say that they only willing to give a RM2,000 discount on the display unit allocated and polish the scratched panels (not even replace). No apologies given at all besides saying if want a new unit, wait another 4 months.

I'm so disappointed with the manner in which Nasim handle their sales, especially for their premium and niche units that I immediatly cancelled the order. The worst part was that although they refunded my deposit, they "makan" for number plate and runner fees to purchase the number plate (which I cannot even use because of their bluffing and cheating ways).

So a warning for everyone getting GTi or even RCZ units, better beware your car would have been molested by thousands of people in roadshows prior to delivery and complete lack of professionalism on Nasim's part.

Shit...thats bad..

My only concern is that when you start in the early morning and you press the accelerator, even if lightly, you will hear like something is loose in the exhaust. Then after you drive for 1 minute the sound goes away.  doh.gif
*
Apparently this is said to be normal...sigh.. wonder if other contis or Peugeot family experience this.. ?

Was having tea with my friends earlier and he was commenting on how bad the 208 car and the aftermarket was. He shared stories on how his friends had trouble selling his 208 turbo.

would like to get some 208 turbo owners here for some real testimony bcos i was thinking of getting the 208 in the second hand car market
*
Most conti cars wont have good resale value, not esp within first few years of selling, ya used 208 will be good...as the price will drop maybe 15% or more?

dunno why they want to sell so fast, less than 10,000km

Wondering what is the maintenance cost or does it still have the common overheat problem? One is selling at RM98,888
*
Is there a common overheat problem ? Temperature sensor problem yes, quite common common..can be replaced at Service Center. Maintenance for my 208 vti ranges from 400++ to 1k++ for major svc.

Hi owners,

I am a potential owner. Saw the car two days ago in Glenmarie, and of course, I loved it as here I am making enquiries.

What I have been hearing are plenty of grouses about poor service by SA, which truth be told, I can live with (I own a Ford, after all). But technical issues can really spoil the ownership experience.

My queries:

1. Is the jerking gearbox a serious problem. I tested the car and it was evident. I am just wondering if the smart gearbox will "learn" your driving style and reduce the incidence.

2. Engine noise (within the cabin). Also apparent during test drive, but what are your experiences? Can this be solved with those sound dampener stickers on sale in most accessory shops?

Thanks a million for your answers, guys!
*
Jerking initially.. But I got used to it and it got used to me. Hahah.. Yeah you can say it learns your style. But it still happens when you suddenly change your driving style.

I like some engine noise. I can confirm it's better than some C seg jap car like mazda 3.. And other b seg like vios. Compared to other conti..not very sure. Sat in a BMW..very quiet ..But thats another story.

Guys, how are your 208's ?

For those that bought it say 2 years ago ?

Still people ask "are you sure you are buying a Peugeot" ............................
*
Mine almost two years 50k km mileage.
Few issues:
- temp sensor( fixed for free at sc )
- faulty side mirror( replaced at sc free)
- quite pricy service , minor 400++, major I did once 1000++, I checked friends 408 service is even cheaper...
- service center availability and competence, in Johor Bahru at least..not so good. Lousy staff... Too busy..sometimes can't even entertain you.. Make appt then forget or don't call back. I just wish the put up more SC.
- got into accidents(three), people bang me. Fixing takes times, because of parts etc some from france.. And lousy follow up from SC.

But, I love the car, I've driven quite a lot of different cars. The driving is great, nice handling and stability.
Quite good power and acceleration.. Even at 180kmh is stable..limited only by then engine and transmission(4 speed) When I was banged by an X-trail, I could feel the solidness of the car. Interior is great and comfortable(for driver), audio system is great.

Overall this car makes me feel like buying another Peugeot in the future just because of the driving experience.
My major issue would be the service center in Johor Bahru.

Thanks!  notworthy.gif

So after changing the temp sensor, no more similar issue? Someone else mentioned before they have this sensor issue like 2 years ago post.

Parts availability, no issue?  hmm.gif
*
after fix no more issues...touch wood..haha! parts...sometimes take time... i dont know is JB SC slow response or generally is like that. When fixing damage caused by accidents, it took about 2 months plus..just to wait for the parts..

2 months for the parts! that is too long. A person may not have a car for the time waiting for the parts. Did they offer a courtesy car (unless it is just cosmetic problem)? hmm.gif
*
They had limited cars..so I didn't get one. Yes, it is long.. . Think it all boils down to the SC quality.

how about the gear change, smooth? some complained on loud engine noise. how is it for you?
*
Smooth mostly, but need to get used to it. Doesnt feel "direct" linear transmission like most jap cars. Engine noise is fine for me. B seg car, so I don't expect it to sound as quiet as camry for eg. subjective, I have a feeling you haven't test drive. Go try for yourself. I test drove at least 3 times before deciding.

Hey guys..got a question. Does the 208 come with a spare key with remote? Or just the key alone. Thanks
*
Just spare key alone. You only cant control the headlamps and roll up windows without the remote.
