Didn't try gaming yet. Besides, I'm back at my folks = air conditioning. Sure won't notice anything.

Actually not 100% ngam. My inner perfectionist is SCREAMING but I know if I adjust summore it's just gonna get worse, so better not do anything.

Ended up covering the extremely shiny mouse pad button and the battery edge below the screen too. Now stopping completely before I start wanting to cover the spaces between the chiclet keyboard (which will be horrifically complicated).

But now everything looks extremely stealthy, if not a bit cliché with all the CF everywhere lol.

Don't worry, not even going near the keyboard lol. It's just ridiculous.

Testing ME3 now, though I doubt I'm gonna feel anything with the air conditioning going on.

Plus I'm now thinking that this cheapo X-Lite II cooler (which I leave at my folks') ACTUALLY works better than the FUIYOOH U2 Plus. There's just so much air volume it's not funny anymore.

Probably for the best. The spaces around the chiclet keys are very narrow. Risky wor.

Yah. I'm surprised how petty the airflow is from the U3 fan, even cranking max fan speed.

Problem is with the X-Lite (and everything else for that matter, save for the Deep Cool MultiCores) is that the single huge fan gives greatest air volume... to the center.

My GE40's bloody vents are at the front end lol.

Actually, the U1 fans are bloody good. It's a single fan for one USB connection and it's damn powerful (for such a small fan, that is). I use them stacked with the U2 Plus double fans, which don't even blow half the amount of air as the U1 single fan, even when you add them together. Plus it attaches fine to the U2.

Now thinking of buying another U1 fan from Thundermatch LYP, the ONLY place I know of selling them. They're cheap too.

Oh, and yeah the CF skin helps. Temps are about the same, after taking into account the colder AC air being circulated into the lappy. But the CF skin DOES helps moderate the heat to my palms.

Before it felt like I was putting my hand on a toaster. Now it just feels like someone's warm bum after an hour's worth of exercise... sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

The bummy heat lingers a bit longer though, due to the fact that it's not being conducted as efficiently to my palm. Maybe the engineers at MSI intended for the palmrest to serve as a secondary heatsink for the GPU, thinking "gamers will prolly use a gaming keyboard or a Nostromo... why not we...".

Regardless of the stock fans, I did notice a change of temperature while gaming, but if time permits, I would opt for the U1 fans, probably a pair, since the U3 has more than enough space for 5 fans. biggrin.gif

I think due to the light build of the ge40, i think the whole lappy feels warm ? And your hand was probably an indirect form of another cooling laugh.gif

Speaking of gaming keyboard, anyone saw the Roccat Ryos?

Actually, post *ehem* repaste *ehem* and also after turning Turbo Boost off, the WASD area (aka. the CPU) never feels even warm, much less the other parts of the laptop lol. Of course putting your hand just an inch over to the left side puts it right over the heatsink fins (read: WARMNESS), but the WASD area itself remains comfortable most of the time.

It's just the extremely hard working GPU and the area around it (dat palmrest).

Not that I didn't anticipate it happening. MSI DID stuff a 760 into a laptop an inch thin after all. I hear the Razer Blade is EVEN HOTTER at full load.

OH MY GAWD IM BLIND!

Anyway, is that line inside the screen? If it's just ON the screen some cleaning spray (sprayed onto a CLOTH, not the screen) should help clean it.

If it's inside... Uh... hmm.gif

Well MSI has always been about value for money (though I'm not sure how value the top of the line GT70 is at 13k). Yours came with the 555 or the 635 GPU? 555 = Alienware M14xR1 level woooo.

bro, is it a good deal if i can get the GX60 below rm5k with spec HD8970M+SSD+8GB RAM 1866MHZ
But, the bottleneck......................... icon_question.gif  cry.gif

My advice is if you're looking for absolute good performance then avoid it. I was considering on getting the GX60/70 laptop too. The 8970M was really attractive. But after watching Youtube videos and forums about it, decided to skip it entirely. Some went to extreme lengths to upgrade the CPU to an ES version so that OC can be done is good testament.

Of course, if you're on a budget but still want all the nice MSI features such as cooler boost, dynaudio, audio boost, etc then its a good buy. Just be prepared to lower down the eye candies hehehe...

I got impatient and ended up covering the entire display frame in CF vinyl as well. Nothing fancy, just another half-hour rough hack job. Thankfully it looks half-decent (if not a tad tacky), and at least I'm now completely free from them shiny plastic bits.

Total cost (Palmrest + keyboard sides + display frame): RM50 + about an hour's work cutting and pasting. Quite reasonable considering I have A LOT of CF skin left over.
