Friend of mine sent his Lenovo to the center (not sure where precisely) and received the laptop in good condition after 10 days.

That's all I know. Better than Asus it seems.

asus service center shouldnt be the benchmark, asus service center is the benchmark for the worst service center, not the best.

Someone I know sent his laptop to Lenovo, and it took ages, and came back broken 3-4 times. He had to send it back each time. Horrible experience for him.

you will need to make huge noise to get them to work.. else they will ignore you totally.

so work very hard to get what you want from them!

ask for higher management or senior technician for help..

damage = your time wasted.

delay delay delay

coming 2 3 4 times just to waste your time and petrol because when speaking to phone there will always refer some other IBM petaling jaya service center. and their result on ready product repair is different!!! ibm said ready, lenovo said not yet... fak need to pick up at petaling if want fast.

terrible service. this is my honest opinion.

- On the phone on hold for hours, or can't get through. Of course this is the same problem as for a lot of services like TM, but not Dell for example.

- Laptop BSOD, sent to service centre. When it's time to pick up, BSOD happens right there on startup at the service centre. Check event log, turns out BSOD happened many many times while they were supposed to be "checking" or servicing. Huge waste of my time. I am a customer and home user, not a technician.

- Incompetent, poor service overall. No responsibility. No follow-up. Already the technicians can't deal with the problem. The phone service people aren't polite, all they know is to ask "what else can I do for you?" - seriously, what's the point of asking when you can't even solve my original problem.

Contrast with Dell, get on the phone, snap, will send a guy, send the guy at an agreed time within a couple days, takes minutes, snap, fixed, any further problems just call again.

- Laptop replaced a couple of times, finally refunded after 8 months.

Now I won't even consider buying Lenovo. Doesn't matter that it's cheaper now than it was when I had this experience (couple years ago). ThinkPad, I'm not sure, because they may have different levels of service, since it is premium. But mine was IdeaPad Y 5xx Series.

my office use lenovo PC and their support is very fast and quick too
it will only take one or two day at most to solve the problem
maybe the customer support varies for business and consumer

And I thought MSI is offering "mediocre" service.

From all this scare stories, seems MSI actually has "very reasonable" service relatively speaking lol, at least as far as I've personally experienced from the PJ branch.

Granted, it was a minor issue (AC adapter problems), and I've yet to experience "real" service conditions (involving a "major" repair).

Of course the undisputed king is still Dell, 2 motherboard changes and 2 screen changes under my belt, all on-site with ZERO hassles. Customer satisfaction at its best.

To be fair, even if I don't compare to Dell, Lenovo's service was absolutely crap. And that laptop cost a lot of cash... it was a high end model, and this was before they radically cut their prices.

Cut prices in Malaysian terms... because US prices are usually low anyway. The Malaysian premium that exists with most products (MBP, Dell laptops, Lenovo) came down a lot not too long ago.
