QUOTE(Mr. Z @ Dec 17 2014, 11:18 AM) Hi Mr.Z i am pretty familiar with Mac Barren..i do tried the likes of Harvest, Colts, Drum, Golden Virginia and West before. My own preference would be mac barren. for a start, i would recommend you to try the Aromatic flavor. If you prefer something fruity, apple is the best as compared cherry or grape. you can even try Rose too, but for me, the smell of rose is too strong, and over the period of you using it, you may get sick of the smell. |

Thanks for your feedback, will definitely go try getting one soon. Want to have something more portable other than my pipes. I only smoke original tobacco on my pipes most of the time, with the occasional aromatic. Trying to recapture the flavour or blackstone cherry. haha |

Been smoking ciggies previously but shift to RYO as it taste better.
brought my 1st starter pipe yesterday at kamelah tobacco house.. got a few questions to ask sifu sifu here.. 1) how to light the pipe tobacco? For every puff I need to light it once, it goes off easily, any special technique? 2) how long can i smoke for a bowl of tobacco? Will it damage the wall of the bowl itself? & how often I need to clean the pipe? 3) Search online, other people mentioned for every one pipe they smoke average 2 bowl per day, after that they will left it in between 2-3 days for it to dry off. I dont quite understand why is it neccessary? 4) How often I need to change the filter? |

I dont quite understand why is it neccessary? 4) How often I need to change the filter? u let it dry of because as hard is it is to believe, the byproduct of a closed burning like that is, moisture. moisture gets into the wood so there is no way to completely dry it. hence, the 2 day drying period. which also means u gotta have more than one pipe if u wanna do it everyday. as for the filter, u replace it when it's black and wet. (yuck) i'll let others correct me if im wrong, and also answer the rest of the questions. im retired from piping. vaping easier. This post has been edited by monoeye: Jan 31 2015, 12:39 PM |

QUOTE(RazrV3 @ Jan 31 2015, 12:20 PM) Been smoking ciggies previously but shift to RYO as it taste better. You need to pack it tight enough to keep the ember continuously burning. Combine that with airflow and you ll have a little campfire on the top. brought my 1st starter pipe yesterday at kamelah tobacco house.. got a few questions to ask sifu sifu here.. 1) how to light the pipe tobacco? For every puff I need to light it once, it goes off easily, any special technique? 2) how long can i smoke for a bowl of tobacco? I dont quite understand why is it neccessary? 4) How often I need to change the filter? Its inevitable that you may need to relight it occasionally especially true for beginners, so dun be disheartened if you need to light it often. It takes practice. As the poster above mentioned, pipe tobacco is quite damp and full of moisture, hence the need to let it dry between 2 - 3 days. Some pipers, like me, have a couple of them as spare. If you dry your tobacco too much, the ember will be unbearably hot and you ll lose quite a bit of flavour. But it will light easy and stay lit easier. If your tobacco is too damp, the tobacco will be cooler and contains more flavour, but generates more moisture and difficult to stay lit. So the skill is to balance the tobacco's moisture level. Enjoy your pipe.. Been smoking couple of years but can't say i know it all. |
