i'm one of those guys who use pipe tobacco to roll (i have a pipe too).

macbarren; the old macbarren was way better than the current one. these new mac barren sucks, all of them.

harvest: a little rough, but no too bad, certain flavour that is. the double vanilla is quite good.

domingo: better than harvest is most way.

my perefered rolling tobacco: golden virginia(yellow > green). else i'll just use pipe tobacco.

well 7-eleven is the last place you should go to find tobaccos. golden virginia are sold in KK mart.

plus, a whole lot of "additive" .

anyway, no need for injector. use roller if you are a beginner. then, learn how to hand roll. these are the different rolling "levels" as i define it:
lvl1: assisted roll- roll with a roller or other devices
lvl2: mobile assisted roll- roll with devices without being stationary(i.e: while walking, standing etc)
lvl3: roller - rolling unassisted (by hand)
lvl4: mobile roller- being able to roll on the move (while driving, walking, standing etc)
lvl5: one-handed roller - well, self-explained. (i know this can be done )

that's my interpretation of it . i'm at lvl 4. what level are you guys?

for me it's the exact opposite now. i used to do what you do. but now i just bring along a packet of tobacco and papers. i rolled one whenever i need a smoke(it's fresher this way). so in the instance that i can't roll(both hands not free), then i just skip the smoke. so, one less smoke for the day .

i do smoke a pipe when i'm at home. most of the time i just go rolling up pipe tobacco. haven't bought any ready-made cigs for years. can't stand the tastelessness.

yup, pretty much the easiest to find is macbarren vanilla (loose cut)- 7E. jusco sells some middleton's, which are pretty good. me i like blend eleven(good for pipes and rollies), but damn hard to find.

pertama. there's a shop that sells unbranded briar wood pipes there for under 100. pretty good quality too. gf floor. don't remember the shop name at the moment.

advice? never buy plastic pipes or the ones with clay-walled(dr. plumb's lower end series).

well, you're out of luck i guess. i bought a pretty cool looking one last year for 70. smoked really nice and fits nicely as well. pipes are subjective anyway. one man's pipe may not accommodate another.

price wise, pipes are like wines. making it is an art. so obviously even the cheap ones are not that cheap. "cheap" here means at least with acceptable workmanship. not those lousy cheap plastic ones. happy hunting.

KK mart. for zigzag king size paper and golden virginia. i think they have rizla too. at least you'll get free rizla with golden virginia.

yup, outlet stocks differs. but they do stock those. golden virginia is pretty hard to find anywhere else. my fav, blend 11, was even harder to get. good think i'm a vaper now.

they do. but mostly for flavours and preservative. nothing as bad as normal cigs(i.e ammonia so that the nicotine can be absorb better).

yes, unitas stuff are a bit stronger on the flavour side. mac barrens are no where as good as they were before(old packaging). harvest, ok if desperate. i used to roll pipe tobacco. better taste. also, try to stick with original flavour, all the flavoured rolling tobacco are basically crap nowadays. golden virginia is a good choice.

i've been rolling since 2006 ended march this year. indeed, it's way better than boxed cigs.

since march i've only bought 1 packs of mac barren pipe tobacco. smoked on and off when i feel like it, like leisurely. vaping most of the time. no more tobacco since august. so i guess it's working for me. you do miss the morning nicotine kick from time to time though.

nope, you can get cheap briar wood pipes in pertama. note that using pipes are a lot more fussier then using papers. with the cleaning and all.

not sure if they do online business. their cheapest would be around RM60-80, non-branded briar wood pipes. some points about pipes:
- pipes need pipe tobacco, don't use rolling tobacco. that would suck.
- a nicely packed pipe would last you about 15-30mins. so can't do that quick half-stick smoking. you can't rush when using a pipe
- don't buy cheap pipe(unknown wood, plastic bowl, bla,bla), better off without it
- you shouldn't inhale. might be tricky for long time smokers.

papers are always more convenient, pipes are more for leisure. like during a lord of the rings marathon . just need to get use to rolling it. here's some weird skill level i've defined on my own
lvl1: assisted rolling, as in rolling with a roller or similar device

lvl3: hand rolling, as in rolling with hands

i'm at lvl4. could never get lvl5 to work . and yes, i can roll a "popiah" better than my wife.

i never think of smoking as being cool. my excuse was, nicotine helps me think(scientifically, it does actually).

you did? lucky. i've never actually met someone who can roll it one handed, that's so hardcore . i can drive a stick shift while rolling, but still 2 handed.

yup, smoking a pipe is more or less like a cigar, but without the ashes. inhaling too much does "choke" you, need to learn to control it.

unfortunately, those has been discontinued(for quite a while now). hence, macbarren's rolling tobacco has dropped from my preferred brand. their pipe tobacco is still nice though.

you'll get the hang of it eventually. not like wrapping popiah, but like rolling it. wrap like popiah becomes like cigar already(closed on both end). how to smoke?

yeah, the king sized papers are actually longer than a king size cig. it's also wider, so you can pack more.

lot's of factor comes into play when i comes to pipe smoking. even the shape of the pipe has affect on how it smoked. how you pack and light it is important too. i'm no expert, but i'm guessing you're doing it wrong.

unitas are one of the easier ones to find. KKmart, Aeon, Giant, 7/11, some random magazine shop. it's everywhere.

try harvest double vanilla. one of the better in the harvest line.

macbarren is not as good as it used to be. harvest, only a few flavours that tasted good. drum just taste weird(some suggest drying in out in the sun before using). try golden virginia, much better than any of those mentioned. yellow one is mellower, the green one is stronger.

better yet, use pipe tobacco. like macbarren's vanilla cream, loose cut. or my personal favourite(but hard to get), blend eleven.

KK mart usually have those. depends on stock availability though.

aeon big(carrefour)/ aeon(jusco) usually carry them. depends on availability.
