QUOTE(amacharu @ May 24 2006, 11:09 PM) Are there any keyboardist around here? Seemed like keyboard are more neglected nowadays. Sorry im kinda late. Haha. I play keyboard. My favorite is the red and beautiful nord stage 2. I use a marshall to amp although its a guitar amp it would be better if this topic would serve as tips or techinques in playing the keyboard. Escpecially some solos. Currently i'm practicing some solos from The Black Mages Added on January 18, 2012, 12:51 am QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ May 25 2006, 08:38 PM) Heh, I used to take piano lessons when I was real young! Stopped at Grade 4 heh... I feel like taking piano/keys up but I dunno where to start LOL! I'm too lazy to go through music scores and theories, so is there a shortcut, like guitar, to learn the chords and all??? YouTube. Checkout youcanplayit and JazzEDge channel. And if you're looking for a specific 'how-to-play-it' song, putting the word 'synthesia' behind. For example; Avenged Sevenfold Warmness of the Soul Synthesia.Keep this thread alive. Added on January 18, 2012, 12:57 am QUOTE(Femi @ Jul 3 2006, 11:15 AM) To me, piano, organ, synthesizer, controller = keyboards.Added on January 18, 2012, 1:33 am QUOTE(amacharu @ Dec 17 2006, 11:17 PM) Umm.... one question. To me. It's about the feeling. When you listen to people playing, you know that specific note was bended. So practice. I recommend playing guitar pieces since guitar playing usually do that bending2 stuff. How do you properly use the pitch bend on the keyboard? I've seen various video clips showing keyboardist make use of it especially during solos, but i just can't do it properly. This post has been edited by soapmac: Jul 3 2012, 03:36 PM |

Playing a Keyboard is totally different from piano. Playing Piano is easier.
It makes no difference whether you have PHD in piano or not. YOu have to understand that keyboard playing encompasses many factors. You can control and command the entire ORchestra...which is under your fingertips. This takes a lotta of experience and creativity. Piano is striaght forward. You dont have to change sound at all. It is only piano, piano and piano only! Nothing hard about that. |

If you're considering RM1 - 3k range of keys, Roland got a better looking keyboard. At this range, Yamaha keys are looking like kiddo stuff. I mean the design is just eeerrhhh.. No offense Yamaha owners. I played a kiddo Yamaha too.. But if money is not a problem, Yamaha offers plenty of top class keys too. And so do Roland.Added on July 4, 2012, 12:24 amSorry. Been busy with studies lately. And since I'm on a holiday, I'll try to give a piece of my mind. Idk much about keyboard so I'm very sorry if it wont help. Like they said, just to keep the forum alive! Cheers. QUOTE(air @ Dec 13 2011, 04:03 PM) Hi there, interested in learning classical organ, any suggestion on starting on it? Yes keyboard is suitable. Being an organ-trained keyboardeur myself, I think it's good enough FOR A START. However, when your grades are higher, it is no longer suitable. You need to get a full organ. This is because you're going to play all your right and left hand alongside the bass pedal together. See, organ pieces is quite 'lively' hehe.. So it's up to you actually, start small or go big. To me, I start small. Because in the end, I'll have a big rig: 1 key 1 organ 1. Instrument: Keyboard suitable? 2. Teacher for classical organ 3. Any extra equipment or fees? QUOTE(zzzxtreme @ Jan 18 2012, 10:29 AM) too much gear, not enough talent That is a good-start-rig. Sorry I cant help on rock school stuffs since I'm not even in KL. Anyway, Keep playing! BTW, anyone knows Rock School in KL ? are the teachers friendly , passionate and dedicated? I really want to find good keyboard/piano teacher which does not teach children song, and also 1hour per lesson. please help ! QUOTE(brokenbomb @ Jan 18 2012, 10:10 PM) Hey uhm can recommend any sub rm2k keyboard and a sub rm1k keyboard amp? For church use. Thx Idk but according to http://www.cmmusic.com.my/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=15 as on 4th July, Roland Juno D is RM2600. That is way beyond your budget. I recommend Casio CTK7000 or Casio WK6500 which is according to the link, is RM1999 and RM1890 respectively. Here is a little advice. Choose a keyboard with the most function and still within your budget. Of course, you need to consider sounds, rhytms, key-type, number of keys etc2.. For an amp, I dont really bother since me myself is using Marshall MG30FX. I mean, I just love Marshall Amps. Wa thinking of roland juno D but wanna knw wat other options..haha QUOTE(empire @ Jan 24 2012, 02:36 AM) Playing a Keyboard is totally different from piano. Playing Piano is easier. So you're telling that changing keyboard sound is hard? Just an opinion. I do not agree nor disagree with you. I have to say that there is no one, standard way to play a keyboard. If you start learning piano lessons and ended up playing keyboard, you will have that piano style of playing. If you start taking organ lessons and ended up playing keyboard, you will have that organ style of playing. For example and from what I see, a piano-taught keyboardeur is playing Cmaj chord: C, G, E. However, organ-trained will press: G, C, E. And however, again, keyboard opened up to many styles. After countless hours of practice and covering songs, you'll end up with the keyboard-style.It makes no difference whether you have PHD in piano or not. YOu have to understand that keyboard playing encompasses many factors. You can control and command the entire ORchestra...which is under your fingertips. QUOTE(zzzxtreme @ Feb 16 2012, 02:43 PM) Idk about the rate nowadays but seems that the price at my time was around that range. I didnt take piano lessons. I just look at the rate displayed at my tuition center. Anyway, better look whether the certificate you'll get is recognized or not. Of course, the more recognized it is, the more expensive it will be. Happy boardin' This post has been edited by soapmac: Jul 4 2012, 12:24 AM |
