QUOTE(fat16 @ Feb 2 2015, 06:41 PM) it the same wimax tech so more or less the same. Ok will survey my area if got shop that offer thisfirst check coverage, then visit computer shop near your place that have banner outsite say 'yes fiz unlimited available here'. QUOTE(chuahcs79 @ Feb 2 2015, 06:54 PM) Streamyx I speedtest and get roughly 80 to 100 ms but tends to dc all the time. So now it comes down to either red tone or YES Fiz . Both got coverage in my area. ping would be different or same? To tell you the truth I haven't heard of 'redtone' before until you told me so I'm a bit skeptical on subscribing it |

QUOTE(kacerism @ Jan 31 2015, 04:34 PM) Haha unfortunately there's no such neighbour here. The place is still new and everyone's waiting to sign up for TIME Fibre. That's why I need a stopgap measure. But I've run the numbers and it seems it's better to just get booster packs for my existing phone data plan (U Mobile, RM10 for 1.5GB valid for 3 days). Upfront payment/device cost is just too steep and might not be worthwhile in the end due to quotas (prepaid? I'll burn a hole in my wallet). FIZ user here, for me speed is fine. Usually capped to download speed of 124-128kbps per seconds. Which translate to 1Mbps. At times i see it goes up to 170-180kbps. On rare occasion you may see in Mbps region. This is rare, so don't get your hopes up.
Youtube watching is fine, there will be buffering as it is 1Mbps link, unless you can live with 144p quality, then no buffering. I usually watch in 360p or 480p. So takes a while to load. Occasionally i download games from steam / origin / patches and other stuff. Depending on size it can takes days. Usually my download size for games averages out to about 10GB, which takes about a day with on and off other internet activities. Gaming is fine, i play FF14 and D3, latency is usually green. I don't do torrent, so that is irrelevant to me. Nothing to complaint, i get what i paid for for RM79. I think now price increase to RM89. After almost 1 year subscribed to this FiZ plan, so far im satisfied with the service.
Few times down time, but quickly sorted out. Location - 5 Signal Bar Latency for online gaming - mostly steam/gar3na 70-100ms. Downlaod speed - 100-150kbps, avg. 110kbps Roughly 1GB file would take approximately 2.5-3.0 hrs to download with avg. speed. This post has been edited by maliwan: Feb 13 2015, 02:52 PM |
