here's the first question-
guys, does ur moonshell provide smooth movie playing experience?
if it does, can u give some information on it? coz mine jus sux because it hangs alot.

something about the video width, aspect ratio(mostly auto detect), bitrate, framerate, flipvideo(?) or anything.

in the 1.21+8 version of moonshell, they have the thumbnail feature for pics but i notice that it only shows the thumbnails for the images that were already in the folder at the time of creating thumbnail. pics added later do not show the thumbnail. besides that, a certain number of pics dun show the thumbnail altho they do show the previewon the lower screen. maybe in later versions these problems can be fixed

suet,

THAT or a passkey device. Its a "homebrew" application so the DS encryption validation needs to be bypassed and passed to the GBA cart.

myliew,

Moonshell is operating in DS mode, whereas the SC movie player is meant for GBA. Therefore the Moonshell one works much better

To get it to work, just put moonshell.nds on your SCSD and put your mp3s on the SD card. Same goes for pictures, oggs, text files etc.

However, if you want to play movies they need to be converted first.

http://ls5.cydonianknight.com/?Download

along with avisynth that is linked on the above page.

follow the instructions and you can encode nearly all video files. I've tried wmv, rm, rmvb, mpg and they all work.

*bumping old topic*

Got a few questions here about Moonshell.

1. What's the picture resolution if I wanna view it in moonshell?

2. Is the clock in the moonshell can changed to other type? Meaning does it have skins like moonshell itself? Or when we change the skin, the clock will follow the skin?

3. Is it normal when I'm moving the clock/mp3's window on the touch screen, the mp3 become lag abit?

4. No more question your honour. HOLD IT!!. OBJECTION!!.

Sorry. 'Demam' Phoenix Wright.

Thanks in advance.

1) Picture resolution of wat? Picture files can scroll around using touchscreen. Not sure if there maxsize but i've tried 2000+ by 1500+ still can. Video max screen size is 256x192

2) Can be changed. U need to get the relevant skins for the clock. Forgot where already. And no, when you change skins its only change for the main interface, not the clock. Unless its included in the skin package then got change lor

3) Yes. Its normal. So don't itchy fingers lah.

If you read my previous post HERE pls disregard it.

The way to do it is when you run the "Setup.exe" choose the drive of your SD card. Please don't use EXFS as that is meant for a GBA flash cart with no FS for u to put your files. Uncheck those other things that is not SuperCard at the bottom.

Once that is done, click the "setup" button and everything u need will be copied over to your SD card and run!

Master santaduck, notworthy.gif

i have follow the way u teach. run "setup.exe" choose the drive of my SD card. uncheck those other things at the bottom. and click "setup". after it done, i also copy some mp3 and WMA files in the same SDcard too.

start my NDS, only saw shell, click shell, only have "back" & plugin, select plugin and it show "idcp.bin" & "clk_vu.bin". both are only showing me "GAME BOY" doh.gif

what should i do next? did i miss something else?

thanks for the fast reply.

Try this instead :

http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/e_main.html

But as kennyboy pointed out, you might just want to try :

http://ls5.cydonianknight.com/?Download

and forget about the one in ScDev. I've only tried the first one actually and I don't use my DS for videos.

Go to this link

http://ls5.cydonianknight.com/?Download

Get the avisynth, Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 if you don't already have it, and BatchDPG v1.0 final - Full.

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/avisynt...56.exe?download
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en
http://ls5.cydonianknight.com/index.php?do...tchDPG_v1.0.exe

Install them in order above. Then just run batchdpg. Simple as that. Much easier than tmpgenc.

Using this you can convert most video that your pc can play, even realmedia files.

other format files can? Your rmvb files can playback only with realplayer correct?

If so go download the media player classic. google for k-lite mega codec, download and install it. then play your rm files with the media player classic installed.

If can play with no prob, dpgbatch should convert it with no problems.

so can use already lah?

support exactly wat i'm not sure. i've read that anything that plays through the directshow filter can be used.

I've used vob, mpg, dat, xvid, divx, rm, rmvb, asf, wmv all can.

Only format cannot is flv, cos that's flash format so still to convert to avi first. But strangely i can play flv format directly on my media player classic....hmmmmm....

why cannot install framework? think quite a few programs require it anyway.

edit...now works with flv files too!!!! smile.gif

Hmmm.. ok here's the story...

U need to convert to mpg first, then use "dpgenc" to convert to dpg for the DS to play. "dpgenc" only takes mpg files, and the first step using the program is to make it all into mpg first. BatchDPG is supposed to do all that in a single step, thats why i suggested it at first though I have not used it before.

"dpgenc" used to be distributed with moonshell i think. no matter, u can get it here :

http://home.att.ne.jp/blue/moonlight/moons...10_dpgtools.zip

Sorry for the "partial" information in my posts, I've only tried it briefly once as I don't view movies on my DS, so abit hazy.

Good luck!

hehehe you're welcome.

After all the trouble, the quality is a bit of a disappointment ei?

MP3 on the other hand seems to play well and sounds pretty OK too coming out of the DS speakers IMHO.

moonshell v1.5 is out.

File Description
old MoonShell screencapIt's been a while since we last heard from the Japanese DS coder Infantile Paralysiser, but apparently, he's been busy as he has just released MoonShell v1.5. As we all know, MoonShell is one of the most popular homebrew image viewers and media players for the Nintendo DS.

For v1.5, the creator has noted the following changes:

* Corresponded to EZ4/DSLink. I wish to express my deep gratitude to Rudolph.
* 'The cartridge of enhancing the memory of DS browser' can be used for the cache memory.
* The resume item was added. (sound volume, reproduction mode, and NDSLite backlight brightness)
* ResumeUsingWhileMusicPlaying item was added to [System] section of global.ini. The resume is preserved while performing the tune.
* The DPG format was renewed. As for the DPG file made with a new encoder, seek is fast and the image doesn't fall into disorder either. Especially, it is remarkable in a long video.

He also warns that this current version must not be mixed with older versions of MoonShell.

In any case, besides the application itself, the creator of this homebrew has also released the source as well as an MSPV40SDK plug-in, for those who might be interested.

As for the installation and other procedures, Infantile Paralysiser has also included a comprehensive FAQ and readme file in the bundle, so be sure to check those out.

3 things to download:
Filename
MoonShell v1.5 - MSPV40SDK plug-in File
MoonShell v1.5 - Source
MoonShell v1.5

any idea what is the plug-in & source for?

in the 1.21+8 version of moonshell, they have the thumbnail feature for pics but i notice that it only shows the thumbnails for the images that were already in the folder at the time of creating thumbnail. pics added later do not show the thumbnail.  besides that, a certain number of pics dun show the thumbnail altho they do show the previewon the lower screen. maybe in later versions these problems can be fixed

For proper viewing of images, I'd rather be using Image Viewer. Comes with nice stylus feature to drag around to zoom/select the pictures. Although you need to convert the bundle of picture files into a certain filetype to use it (but it's nice anyway, it's like an autopilot to compress+ create thumbnail for it)

The only good thing that I use Moonshell for right now is to convert my DSL to a mp3 player. The movie viewing thing is just a silly novelty that wears off quickly.

i mean clean as in untouched one..probably u hv deleted other files too unintentionally coz if u just messed with the theme files the brightness option will not be affected.
