BTW, just finish my mobile crane MKII this holiday... my first set that unable to complete in 1 day...
let me share some pictures that i take this morning biggrin.gif (haven't apply stickers yet)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

personally, i'm prefer the hook to be in one piece of metal, just like those old sets but i don't think it's possible with this size...
and there are "sound of doom" or sound like somethings gonna broken when raise or lower the crane part to maximum point...

took me 2 days to complete (about 13-15 hours) even i'm follow the instruction, only open the packages that's require instead of open all at once... (normally i will open all at once and search through all the parts biggrin.gif and this is my first set to use this method and i found it not bad actually... reduce the chances of wrong parts)

probably take me longer time if i apply stickers as well...

first thing that surprise me when i open the box - the wheel... it's really bigger than I had anticipated although there is picture show 1:1 of wheel size but it really surprise me when i take it out from the box

and it not only 10 rubber wheels in MKII brows.gif i'm sure it can be seen in my pictures laugh.gif

That should be the LA reaching its max or min point. The clutch will auto-skip (grind-of-death) to protect it from breaking.

There is a flaw with the double LA, similiar with the construction in 8043. Both the 20T gears should be at the same side, i.e. not opposite of each another.
Search for Parax here
Due to it, it could strain one LA on the way up, and another LA on the way down.
Long term, the metal cylinder inside could grind the plastic inside, even though it is already gel-lubricated.

To be honest, Winter Village Cottage is relatively like those LEGO family house. But just to have a cottage itself is insufficient because it seems like there is nowhere for the Winter Village Cottage resident to go... unless you mod your Modular to Winter Village feel then is different...

IMHO, its quite detail. It packed with Christmas / Holiday feeling... So I would say I give it a 9 for the set, and missing 1 point for being expensive for the set.

I'm actually thinking about getting it, since the Carousel is coming later this year too right. Won't be moving to Modular at the moment due to space, so I thought Winter Village might be a good line to brick.

It's a nice line of theme to go after. Even those older set like toyshop or others is not that expensive even is already EOL. So, you might consider completing your collection. But do remember that there's a lot of white bricks and grey bricks around... if you r the kind of cannot tahan brick get yellowish, then it might be a bit heart pain...

My next town hall gonna moc a bit and add some white bricks to make it as if it is a town hall for Winter Village set and a GE that have christmas feeling. I might consider getting a LEGO truck / TRU truck to make it as if the Winter Village toy shop is supplying toy for GE.

Perhaps Winter Village set is the only set that I determined to finish the complete collection... and creating a small Christmas town!

Yeah, I was calculating on my calculator when I saw it on BBT last Thursday, so with 10% discount it's like RM450, then I was thinking whether should I BL it...find it only about 10-20 bucks cheaper, although it will be way cheaper if I import 2 boxes in, but then again for sure will kena tax since it's more than RM500. So considering and considering, in the end, didn't get any.

Yea, so we can create 2 scene actually. 1 is outside of the building, and the other is inside.

Like toy shop! I have have outside a lot of people singing carol, skiing, or decorating the Xmas tree.

While inside I can have kids going around the shop looking for toy with parents, and toy maker making toy on 2nd floor biggrin.gif It's perfect!

Well, Overpriced is definitely compared to anything earlier. I just hope that they can persist to continue to coming out the set that with holiday Xmas feeling... I would love it if they came out with a ski area next year!

agree with u. the MKII is really huge (i don't think big is suitable)
really like the picture of glow in dark thumbup.gif maybe i'll try take some pictures like this in future...
ya... really painful...
for me, i finish the MKII in 2 days and 2nd days when continue the fingers are much more painful than I expected...
to be honest, i'm prefer the 8070 hotrod, the alternative model than the main model but luckily i manage to resist this...
and i saw a classic set there brows.gif
nice mod thumbup.gif this reminds me that i'm also plan to mod my 8109 truck with V8 engine long time age...

QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Aug 11 2013, 07:22 PM)
Took 1 and a half days to build it, approx 9 hours to build. If start in the morning can finish in 1 day.
The alternate model for the 8070 looks cooler than the main model. The best part is the automatic roof!

If you want to build construction vehicles there is a whole range of vehicles to collect  sweat.gif cranes, backhoes, wheel loader, bulldozer, dump truck etc. So better to stick to technic flagships only.
Nice! Very "hot rod" like!

Old photo of my other Technic collection, 8448, 8258, 8053 and 8275. Three of them were dissembled long ago and the red car is in its alternate mode. Tempted to rebuild the 8053 to put it side by side with my 42009.

really? I thought the main model would look better so I build the alternate one first. The convertible roof is cool, but I find it too low as it's not to scale to the car.
For the doors, there's a grinding sound when it's closing (or was it opening), can't remember which. Not sure if this is common or I made a mistake somewhere.
