well frumpyclunkyboy, my life was in a mess and was stress eating a lot, grown very fat(cannot jump and if dive hurts alot), then slimmed back down by playing in midfield. got the bug about three months back..so went and 'restock' my gear and started playing GK again..still trying to get the hang of not running pass the defenders when attacking

hope you ok already with the bug problem. Hope you do well being a goalkeeper. Its kind of hard for me to dive and run cuz of my fatness (im 115kg) and now im motivating myself to lose weight and get my fitness back. I used to be central defender and now keeper since no one in my team want to. Im looking for people to practice and run drills for keepers,so can get better but till now no luck. Just came back from Germany,got to see Bayern Munich FC drills for the players and keeper plus met Manuel Neuer hehe

Bagi aku diorang ni kalau kita compare, sama bagus, cuma fizikal diorang je yg berbeza ( ketinggian ).

Aku harap ko tahu maksud tulis dalam capital letters kalu dlm internet.

Susah nak rate diorg, sbb main dlm era yg berbeza. Macam nak suh rate Lev Yashin dgn Joe Hart. Dulu2 takde bola laju2 mcm skang, xde boot power2 mcm skang & game dulu mmg x mcm skg.

Aku cuma rasa sgt lega skg sbb kita dh ade keeper yg reliable, yg tak fumble & x buat mistake bodoh2. Khairul Fahmi mmg sgt reliable, excellent shot stopper, baca game bagus, & sgt2 bagus dlm intercepting crosses. & dia juga sgt agile, sbb tu dia sgt bagus sbg shot stopper. Khairul Azman plak, very commanding dlm box, jugak sgt reliable & tak buat mistake bodoh2. Kelebihan keeper yg tinggi2 ni yelah dgn just presence dia saja dh buleh menggoyangkan confidence lawan.

& pls jgn tulis dlm caps lagi, unless ko betul2 nk marah2 org. Tulis dlm caps bukan cara untuk mendapatkan perhatian.

Khairul Fahmi ok,tapi harap dia tak hancurkan diri dia dulu la dengan gossip dan buat benda entah bukan2 (gi kelab etc) kalo ye pon nak cover la sikit...

Semua orang ada kelebihan ada kekurangan,lagipon zaman dulu dengan sekarang lain,bola dah evolve dan manusia pon evolve.

Tak guna bandingkan antara 2 hero MALAYA sebab dorang tu hebat dalam zaman mereka sendiri.

former school goalkeeper..stopped being a goalkeeper for 5years now..focused on gym and basketball..

love being a gk and to dive around like a crazy fella to save shots..oh yeah 189cm too..

i'am a goalkeeper with small figure. which is really disadvantages for me to protect that big goal. tried many ways to increase my body figure but failed

Hey! My team's goalie is 160cm and yet, he won best PLAYER in a tournament recently. You read it right. Best PLAYER not goalkeeper. Size isn't everything.

where can i get Reusch or Uhlsport goalkepper gloves in KL town....never seen in pertama kompleks...

i used to play as a gk
lepas broke my hand after saving 1-1 ball
retired d and now play as a DC,LB and sometimes striker hehe

just saw this thread and saw this

when Khairul Azman, i was still a young kid. EXCELLENT GK,
pernah jadi Best GK in Asia..
so on this aspect Khairul Azman win

Apex on the other hand won medals which is also equally important as a footballer. this Apex win.

however if u ask me, Apex still got long way to go to reach Khairul Azman level, consistency, etc etc.

before this we thought we already had good GK like Helmi Eliza , but not until AFF 2008 IINM
same goes to Farizal when we make numerous saves vs Man Utd (2009 oso) not until his dip in form at local league & injury.
same goes to Sharbinee when we won Sea Games 2009, but not until WCQ vs Singapore (but still Sharbinee is quite a good GK if u ask me)

but Apex of course did had good future. (same like Sharbinee & Farizal)
what matter the most HE DID his job

so godlike la him. very rare to see him let slip easy goals. last time i see him fumbled was during local league vs Perak where Kelantan lost 3-0 at Ipoh..but after that no more.

btw : pernah jadi GK utk satu cup, time tu GK kitaorang cabut team lain <GK Utama, dia mmg gempak gila so no wonder la byk teams nak snap dia, and our 2nd GK terseliuh tangan sbb ragbi.

so we had no cover..i dunno la why I want to take the responsible. managed to go until Semi Final IINM, lost Penalty shootout.
that last penalty I believe i can save becoz I knew the direction where the player want to kick (coz previous round i study and look on each takers of the opposite team)
but still tak berani mau dive la..

Hahaha, actually I used to seriously play as a GK. Aku tak go on for professional career sebab satu, aku ni agak rendah ( tinggi around 172 cm, lebih kurang apex kot ),satu lagi masa remaja aku agak perform in studies, so aku teruskan focus kat belajar dan bisnes ( mostly sebab faktor career pemain bola yg sampai umur 35 tahun je biasanya, lagipun masa aku umur awal dan pertengahan remaja, masa tu zaman gelap bola sepak malaysia, around late 90s ). Ni baru balik main futsal jadi GK, sampai bengkak tulang keting ni tadi berlanggar keting sama keting semasa merempuh masuk one on one.

Sebenarnya semasa zaman Khairul Azman, team Harimau Malaya masa tu 2 of the best kat south east asia, tetapi masa tu Thailand tengah gempak giler khinzir ( zaman Kiatisuk Zico ), jadi Tiger Cup 96 kita kalah kat diorang. Kalau x maybe kita ada harapan nak menang edisi tu.

Cuma Apex bernasib baik team 2010 dan 2011 win medals, sebab ada defenders dan defending midfielders yg gempak giler for our HM team, tu pun plus factor gak. Keeper godlike macam mana pun ( contohnya macam Peter Schemeichel dan Lev Yashin ), kalau defenders tak power giler khinzir ( macam defender Italy contohnya ) mesti akan bolos juga. Pasti bolos kalau :

1. selalu dalam situasi one on one terlalu banyak dalam satu match
2. terlalu banyak shooting berturut2 dan bertubi2 macam latihan menembak dari pihak lawan, kalau bola tepis dari dekat lepas tu muntah, tap in je confirm gol kalau keeper tak sempat bangun dari kedudukan terbaring selepas diving.

i played as goalkeeper 2 and im only 163, really short for a goalie right but i enjoy being a keeper.....

all those dive and saves will make you proud of urself, competed in a tournament (not a pro 1) during studying time and not conceded a single goal from grouping until semi final but conceded 3 during the final......
