hello i want to know the feeling standing between post and waiting others to shoot at you........
*
LoL.... I love the anticipation of the shot coming in and i save it in a spectecular way and the look on the player face after i save his shot....

Been a goalie since 12 until now....
Form has dipped lately because i left football playing for about 8 months. I am currently gaining back my fitness...

I especially loves one - one situations.... Most of the time i come out tops....
thanks to my upper body agility and my super fast hands and fingers....

only problem i have is my over dramatic save that can have very bad consequences.... ie making a meal out of a simple routine save...

Everytime i playing football,i don't like be a keeper because i scare the ball shot to my face,so just be a midfield only..passing the ball to striker.. rclxms.gif

Hahaha, being goalie means u gotta be prepared to use *EVERY* part of ur body, and i really mean it...

Let's talk about our best saves. My personal best was a 3 save in-a-row, first i had to punch the 1st shot away, then it rebounded to another opponent player and he took a shot to the bottom right corner, i have to immediatly dive bottom right and push it away before i could even stand up, then, my stupid defence still standing there watch me do One-Man-Show, 3rd fella came in from right side and shoot, i had to use my balls to block the shot, and finally hold on the ball...lied on the ground for 2 minutes after that, SAKIT OH~~~!!! sweat.gif ...but managed to get rclxms.gif and notworthy.gif from everyone on the field and spectators, so it was worth it icon_rolleyes.gif

Yep, the look on the opponent's face that says, "HOW DID HE SAVE THAT shocking.gif ???" is the most satisfying part about being a goalkeeper thumbup.gif

The best part I like is, blocking/saving a 1 on 1 attempt. Looking at the opponent's reaction is priceless rclxms.gif
Btw you bought your new gloves already?

I once dive into an opponent balls first just when he was preparing to shoot.....
flex.gif

My best save was ala gordon banks... a free kick, deflected by the wall and wrong foot me yet somehow i manage to fly across the goal and somehow catch the ball clean..... high ball some more....
flex.gif
but that was quite some time ago la...

PS : Who say i old ? vmad.gif

During a training session a couple months back, Alex (of Soccer Star) was up against me, chasing a loose ball. I got to the ball first & kicked it, but the ball hit the advancing Alex & bounced back towards my goal. I chased Alex down, he was now about 7-8 feet ahead of me, & swept the ball away as he was about to kick the ball, bringing him down as well. He claimed penalty, but I got to the ball first.

In 1999, semi finals of UKM's inter-Kamsis (now Kolej) tournament (SUKEM). We were up against the favorites, they're leading 1-0. I saved everything they threw at me. My teammates came to me later & told me, if they were the other side's striker, they'd be very frustrated. We equalized with less than 10 mins to go & went on to win on penalties. I saved 1 penalty. I guess that was one of my best games.

Early this month, in a friendly, my team was up 2-1. Then my defence was caught off-guard & let this lone striker towards goal. I went for the ball, the striker hit the ball & I parried it, but the ball bounced back at him. The guy hit the rebound against me again & this time the ball rebounded outside the penalty box, to his teammate. This guy took the shot as I was backing up to my goal & I had to dive full stretch to parry the ball away.

Too bad I'm still new to have my "best save" experience. But can say the best moment as a goalkeeper I had is during my college futsal competition. I almost manage to get a clean sheet in the group stage(which consist of 9 teams in total) untill one of my defender accidentally own goal. Well one shot only, still something I'm proud off..(unfortunately during the finals I made some major screwed up...Let in 3 goals...heck..kinda like Kahn during the 2002 World Cup finals)

well, the first time i became goalie, everyone was already amazed biggrin.gif
but that time didnt do flashy saves, just wait the person dribble i go dive at his feet. haa. and also, got once, the striker wanted to humiliate me. he dribbled past all the defenders ( lousy baastards, blame me always when one on one) . then he had a superman to face. ME tongue.gif . he tried dribble around, i wait for right moment (forming a "cobra" style with my hands to protect my face, u can check this technique at jb goalkeeping) go dive at his feet lol. he fell down then claim penalty. hahaha. too bad, he didnt get the penalty, even the referee salute my save. and that was match deciding. we won 1-0. actually, i thought wanted to simply let him score, but he wanted to humiliate me, so i gave no chance biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

then there was this time, the ball was like bouncing irregularly, suddenly i dunno how, the ball got out of my sight, yet i know it was beside me lol i just stretch my arms and parried it away. talk about keeper instincts laugh.gif

then got this ccb part where we were playing a losing match, the defender got pissed( he blamed me for all the goals lol.. actually all of them scored during one on one shocking.gif ), simply kick the goalkick into striker, and the striker came so near, bout 6 feet away from me, shoot towards the lower corner. i use super reflex save dived at the grounder. my gloves, needless to say got abused coz of the sand near the goalpost.
anyway i never had the chance to save multiple shots.. the max is only 2. i parried the ball away dunno fly where, then i turn around the ball hit my ass. haha . is that counted? whistling.gif whistling.gif

i guess most best saves are those where people gave up hope, but we still go for it thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Adidas' new line looks really good, but Adidas distis in Malaysia is quite slow to bring in the new models. Adidas have just released their latest latex palm called E5S, the new models uses this latex plus new cosmetics & all. But they also released replica models, that is this year's cosmetics with the old latex, E4S. The one U bought, is FS Carbon, with E4S.

But I guess the latex won't make much difference, the new Fingersave elements is really good. Maybe U can try & compare Ur current gloves with the new FS Replique, the FS elements are much more flexible.

being keeper is the best...the only position that allowed using hands and when u 'terbang' the crowd goes "waa....keeper mantap" rclxms.gif (provide if u make a savelah)
another important point when u play as a keeper the posibility to be chosen into a team is easier coz not many contender rclxms.gif
but to be a keeper especially in futsal u must have a very brave heart, i myself being call psycho many times by my friend

Ookay that would explain what 'replique' means...Was wondering what the heck it means..I know it's a downgraded version but dunno what is downgraded. But latex surface technology don't really bother me much lar...

Yeah the newer line of the Adidas FS the FPS is more flexible than my FS Carbon. Anyway I got used to my FS carbon already so nowdays doesn't really give me much problem

I played futsal most of the time...And that will definetely test your skills to da max coz you're constantly being shot at. Some claim they too scared to take a shot coz I always come rushing at them tongue.gif

A good team member will always understand the keeper's position by not putting the blame on them for EVERY goal conceded(unless it's some very stupid 5 year old kid shot goal lar). But I do get mad sometime at my defenders who constantly go up the field and often leave me with 1 on 1(some time 2 on 1, 3 on 1 also got) situation.

GK's are not pyscho, they just love their job that's all..that's what makes us special and different...Talk about machoness.... flex.gif

lol, thats wat my stupid teammates always do. they leave Gk 1 on 1, all wanna go in fronta goal to score. then when score liao say i didnt guard. lol. damn funny man. and no use talking to them , coz im from the 1st, class, they all from 2nd, 3rd 4th class, wont get along well.

and i tot if they shoot the ball at u, what skill they testing sweat.gif sweat.gif for me, if i position myself well, like in the middle of where they can shoot( not too near to near post or far post, right in between) they shoot straight at me, then its easy to save thumbup.gif thumbup.gif but no diving saves to show off whistling.gif whistling.gif

Any goalies here using softground (SG) boots ? I mean those with 6 studs (removable). Most of the pitch in KL is hard pitch, but sometimes in the rain, we will need SG boots. My current two pairs are SGs, one is blade studs SG (Adidas Salvador SG) & the other is Umbro Match Bronze SSG (6 studs, metal tip).

Last nite I had a friendly match against Valencia (well, they were wearing Valencia jerseys). We won like 3 or 4 - 2. The first goal I let in was a deflection. My midfield lost the ball in our half (a very, very dangerous situation). It was a shot from outside the penalty which hit one of my defenders. To make it worse, I slipped & couldn't get to the ball, although I've already anticipated the shot. I had my Adidas on. Usually I'd use my Umbros when playing in PKNS field. But I didn't know ther was going to be a match last nite, it was supposed to be a training session. Well, what to do....

I dont buy SG boots at all.if i do wanna get it, get a cheaper one also . Malaysia pitches suck to the max , so hard. and i hardly get to use them. and 6 stud usually metal, depending on where u play , they usually ban it.. my school had some student organised leages, they said " 6 start tak dibenarkan" that time i dunno wtf is 6 start also. ahhaa

Wau....so far down edi this thread. Been down with tonsilitis since last Friday, but played on Sunday anyway. Won 7-1 against FT Chinese. Initially we were a bit .... awed, becoz the team got 2 foreigners. But later we found out those foreigners weren't effective at all.

Hmm..been playing as a keeper ever since I started football..probably the lack of people willing to become the keeper kept me in the position even though I am not that fantastic tongue.gif

Not to mention, I love playing as a keeper, the fact that the responsibility is greater as a keeper than any outfield player. As they say, keeper gets only one chance to save, a striker can get ten to score.

Tend to let high balls get to me and the occasional super blooper like dropping the ball into the goal.. laugh.gif

Usually get called into teams last minute to join tourneys because they dont have a keeper tongue.gif So far, experience has been varied, for amateur tournaments, always get pass the group stage but falter in the knockout stages.

Joined a semi-pro (i guess) Milo League at Sportsbarn once. My team consisted of teenage kids playing first time in a major league. Needless to say, it was a good (although humiliating) experience for me. Who knew Steven's Corner can shoot the ball so hard? tongue.gif

But that was also the best time being a futsal goalkeeper, learn quite a lot from that tourney. Best save at that time was a one-on-one situation and I remembered him saying "Matilah engkau" before I went and save his shot. Quite a priceless moment.
