Latest status of the prepaid GST, government giving 6 monthd to telco to adjust the system, afterward RM10 reload has to sell RM10
*
Thanks for link. Hopefully not another Ahmad Maslan case of say without brain.

If that's the case, spending for U28 per year would come out to RM356.16 (including GST).

Spending for Power Prepaid per year would come out to RM365.

It's closer, but U28 still cheaper for more data and calls and SMS but less flexibility. Big downside for those who call a lot. Also big downside of RM300 deposit for those who want to use roaming.

Collect so much credit for what? You can't sell it off to anyone else....

Unless you plan to convert to U28 and use it, but even then some say will burn, others say max RM30 or so will carry over.

Well because I can I supposed....lol

Also your idea not bad. Convert to u28 got free phone line for almost 1 year.
*
The U-mobile promoters I asked said cannot carry over, but some here have carried over some low amounts. Doubt U will carry over RM100+ for you.

QUOTE(asiatrader98 @ Aug 6 2015, 12:19 PM)
just want to know is it likely to upload rm10 to power and then use the free 1gb each month for the 10 dayss
*
Likely? Once you reload RM10 once, you already have that free 1GB as long as you're active.

I presume you could, after RM10 active period finish, don't use your line for a while, then reload RM10 when you need data and get another 1GB from that point.

But this requires testing.

QUOTE(prosibu @ Aug 11 2015, 08:43 AM)
The best combo is by using 3 numbers and put them in dual sim card phone in sequence

1st sim, reload RM10, 1GB from 1st to 10th (let say this is ur main)
2nd sim, reload RM10, 1GB from 11th to 20th
3rd sim, reload RM10, 1GB from 21th to 30th

and of coz ur main number in another sim slot of the phone all the time.

Receive call with main, calling / SMS out with other active card during the period

So, reload RM30 get 3GB and RM30 credit...

Other way, if the reload RM10 to get 1GB is only for 1st month but not all the months...

And those online top up RM2 is still available...

U can have 15 numbers reload RM2 every 2 days...

U can have reload RM30 get 15GB but still having RM30 credit.... smile.gif
*
May as well say 30 numbers reload RM1 every day. When does the mafan-ness of having to reload become not worth it? =)

I'd say at most 2 cards (RM15 each) with dual sim phone is not too hard. Otherwise too mafan for me.

should stay old umi plan or change to power plan?
pros and cons please...thanks
*
Do the maths for your own usage. You don't even say which UMI you're on.

Assuming it was UMI28, you get 1GB, 50 minutes call, 30 sms (or something like that) for each RM28. Lasts for 30 days. Reloads are 2x validity but you reload about RM30 every 30 days anyway so that UMI28 can be auto reloaded.

With power plan, you reload RM30 and get 30days validity and 1GB free. No free calls or SMS, but you still have the RM30, so use that to call/SMS anytime. You'll come out with more minutes/calls, but spend a bit more (since you need RM30 rather than RM28 every month). Or you can buy the UMI25 and get much more than you used to get with UMI28.

Or you can just go U28, pay the same as you previously did for more data, more sms, and a bit less calls.

Depends on what you use.

another question.. lets say if the 30days of validity finishes from the power prepaid plan and am I allowed to subscribe to UMI which will grant me another 30days validity?
*
During those 30 days you will only have data, no call/SMS, as far as I can tell.

Seriously, if you want longer validity don't bother with power prepaid.

For Umobile postpaid.

AFAIK you must go SC, so if you're already abroad then most likely cannot.

Maybe with photocopy IC etc they can still help you to do. As long as RM300 deposit is there.

no contract . proven power better because internet is free. after 1 month you still got RM30 for power.

voice call for power is 10cent per minute
voice call for u28      is 20cent per minute
*
'Proven'?

RM30 with prepaid, can buy UMI25 (1GB) and then only have 5 ringgit left for your calls/sms.

Or you can buy UMI30 (1.5GB) and have no money left for calls/sms.

Both of which still have less than 3GB data which U28 gives. Oh, and U28 also gives free calls 50 minutes to all and SMS 200 (+ 100 to U). Power prepaid free 450 minute call only to U.

Postpaid plan can get 250MB more data by auto-pay using CC.

Postpaid plan costs less over time than prepaid (RM28 per month works out to RM336 per year vs RM30 per 30 days works out to RM365 per year). This is MINIMUM spend.

The 'best' way to use power prepaid is to have 3 sim card and reload RM10 to each in 10 day intervals. So you get free 3GB over 30 days for RM30 spend (compared to using 1 sim card get 1GB free). Both also you are left with RM30 or calls. Of course, the mafan-ness of this may not be worth it for some (most?).

If you use data a lot, U28 gives more data.

If you don't use data a lot, U28 is cheaper.

Power prepaid is better if you call other U numbers a lot. Or generally if you call a lot. For any other usage U28 is better.

I use 1gb only. So all your point is moot. it is ridiculous to subscribe u28 when you have the power to subscribe to power. pun intended. lol
*
You use 1 GB only. And you happily see a lot of credit build up. Unfortunately U credit cannot be sent to other people, and your spend over time still more than if you go U28.

If you happy to spend a bit more then good for you bro whistling.gif

If you really use only 1GB, here's the better way. Go for power, use for some months until credit build up, then convert back to old prepaid plan. Your validity will be reset, but now you get 2x validity and you already have quite a lot of credit to buy UMI plans. That's the only way to spend less than U28 without losing out on validity days or having to switch sim cards.

I wanna ask if there is postpaid package that is around RM 90 to 100?

With 10GB perhaps?

And wanna ask regarding the sim cards sharing, RM10/m is per sim? Means if share up to 3 sim cards, I nid to pay RM 30/m?

Thanks.
*
RM10/m is per additional sim. Meaning 1 sim card free, 2 sim cards RM10, 3 sim cards RM20.

If you willing to spend RM90 to 100, then I teach you a 'strategy'. Get U28. Every 3 days buy a 1.5GB booster for RM10. If you know that particular day won't use much (maybe you're at work all day or something) then can skip.

If one month, you pay RM28 + 10*RM10 which is RM128. You can total 18GB over the month.

By comparison their platinum plan at RM498 per month is 'only' 15GB. Of course that one got berlambak banyak free calls/sms.

This method is good because if you use more can just buy booster again, and if dunneed buy booster can save. A bit mafan to monitor. If you're using Android and a bit techy you could probably automate the whole process using Tasker, AutomateIt, IFTTT, or similar.

Alternatively a bit more hassle free method is to go for the MB88 which gives you 9GB (and 14GB off-peak during 2-8am). Not sure if can be used for call/SMS though. Perhaps check at your nearby U service center (don't bother with their helpline).

saw few commented that the data on postpaid is waaaaaaaay slower than prepaid despite both getting 3G in same location sometimes ago.

can anyone with postpaid still having this issue?  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

I think you saw wrongly, prepaid is the one that's way slower last time someone shared. He was using prepaid happily, his roommate got postpaid then he couldn't play games on his prepaid anymore.

I want to ask forumers here on the feasibility of this idea.

Sign up P70 and get a member line, and use member line for data only.

Can I put the member line SIM into a MiFi router using it at home? I am clueless whether SIM for smartphone can be used in a MiFI router. Newbie here.

I hardly use more than 2GB per month on my smartphone. So, I am thinking of replacing my Unifi with the above setup.

Please advise. Thanks.  smile.gif
*
From technical perspective, yes it is possible.

From usage perspective.... can your whole household actually survive on 5GB a month? Depends very much on what you do online, but each video you watch on youtube is maybe 100MB (depending resolution). So 1 GB is about 10 HD videos. Maybe you stream on some Jack Sparrow sites for movies? That'd be at least 700 or 800 MB there (for non HD).

Since you currently have Unifi, you should just ask them (no idea whether this works). Call them up, ask if they can tell you how much data you used in the past month. If they ask why, you can make up a story like "oh, my computer is pretty slow, a friend mentioned maybe got virus connecting to internet to slow things down" or something like that. They have very accurate numbers.

You could also try bandwidth usage monitoring programmes but in my experience they're quite inaccurate. Good for ballpark figures though.

My own opinion - don't do it. I myself use at least 6GB a month (without considering ANY youtube/video watching) on my laptop. At least. I don't pretend that I'm a very light user, so you may be able to get away with it, but....

Tried to looking at website about credit sharing, did not found any.

I'm pretty sure, I will have excessive credit. Because I will topup for sake of free 1gb internet. How should i do?
*
Someone previously posted a quite interesting idea. Keep topping up till you have high amount of credit, then when validity expire convert back to old prepaid plan and continue topping up, but now use that high amount of credit you have to buy UMI plans until credit runs out (so you'd reload RM30 and get 60 days validity, then you'd buy UMI 25 two times meaning spend RM50 over those 60 days, after a while you'd finish credit). Then convert back to power prepaid.

Of course, I think within a year or so they will remove the old prepaid plan totally, so need to pay attention. After that time no use keep credit di.

And regarding that, I've not done before but been reported as can before on this thread (I think). Better verify before trying.
