For me I like no cheats better. You know the challenging how cops just chasing you in GTA IV and with the new system that when the police is there can't paint cars. I'll just jump into the ocean and swim to the other side. Well troublesome sometimes but just the chase on the highway is fun brows.gif

After seeing the conceptual screenshot, I am interested.

Crap. sweat.gif

Why is the goal is only 100k? Thats damn little to make a game? Even a uni student's game needs like 75k for one year of development.

Same here, saw the screenshots and it looks damn yummy. Plus the people enlisted for this one, it look so much like a win for sure. My only concern for this game is the delivery date, man, Nov 2014 the earliest and for the addon items by March 2015. Worried that I might have a kid in hand by the time this game is out biggrin.gif

*In regarding to the low KS amount - they are just getting 100k for the 3D development, the rest are going to be royalty based (sales based profit, I guess). It is in their FAQs, take a look see. For info, they broke the KS amount in just 1 day time.

Isn’t $100,000 too low to be making a title of this caliber?
When you think of usual developing fees, USD100,000 is definitely not enough to create a video game. However, as each of our members are professionals in their own field, they do not require a salary right now, and so, are donating their time and effort into developing Project Phoenix. Their reward will come in the fans’ evaluation of the game and a %-based royalty of all sales.  This is the reason why our project will never fail due to lack of finance after we reach our goal. It is possible to release our game with just our developers' work, but there is one cost that we just cannot ignore in order to make the highest quality video game. Our pledge, USD100,000 will be used for one of the best 3D modeling out there. This figure is the most minimum cost required.

The money that has been invested through Kickstarter will go towards things such as recordings and hiring extra assistants. The money will always be used solely to enhance the quality of Project Phoenix. This money will never reach our members as salary. Our members are working on this game knowing that they will receive a royalty of the % of income based on how much time they've spent on Project Phoenix.

Project Phoenix aspires to be a video game that solely exists because of the users. So, user evaluation will inherently be crucial to our members' future revenues. If they do not put much effort in, the users' assessment of their work will simply be poor and therefore ultimately reflect badly in the incoming they receive.

We chose Kickstarter because this is where we will be able to make all this happen. There are various exciting rewards ready for you depending on the amount of money pledged. What will the fate of Project Phoenix be? You, who invest in Project Phoenix, will be a true team member. So let's create an amazing game together!

So, they did explain it, but I am not too sure that they can make it without any salary.

Still, I am god damn interested in this project as I like the idea of blending the talents of east and west.

Is it just me of the in-engine concept felt a bit chibi or something? Like everything is small and a bit cute.

My concern is, I am fine if they dont take salary but are these AAA developers going to work on their free time or they are just gonna do unpaid work for the next whole year? I am assuming that it uses Unity so it might speed things up a bit.

For your case, i actually dunno how to help you or even what to say. sweat.gif

Seriously, the music sample on the KS is awesome.

Pledged one game this month, another one next month. I can forget about buying games on release then, and keep playing all the buggy stuff from KS.

I actually don’t mind the chibi-ness, after all most older/general JRPG used to be designed in that way (Disgaea, Ys, older FF series etc). I miss having games like that haha.

Based on what I can read so far, it seems that the developers will really do the work for free until the game is out for sale. Maybe there are some hidden publisher or company sponsoring something here and there.

Music is being managed from the legend himself haha, he has a lot to answer if the music is no good.

I am likely to go for it but I am checking if I can poison my gamer kaki to combo the Fiery Steed ($80) pledge. Pricey but it seems like a worthwhile investment. Tempted for the Artisan or Treasure Hunter but hmm, have to see if I can poison the guy successfully first.

*On having a kid, haha, if I kena one by 2015, this will be his first b'day present then.
