Nani has deflected talk of a move by insisting his ambition for the season is to help Manchester United retain their Premier League title.

Monaco claimed the Portugal international had been offered to them and as Nani’s contract expires in 2014, United have to either sell him or risk losing him for nothing.

But the winger, who joined United in 2007, said he is focusing on securing his fifth league title in his time in England.

He told MUTV: "I hope to win the league again and, for my personal wishes, I want to be at my best and score a lot of goals. Like I said, I just need to be at my best and then everything will come together."

After scoring 10 goals in each of the last two seasons, Nani only struck four times last year during an injury-hit season.

And he missed United’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia after undergoing surgery on his nose.

But he scored twice in Monday’s 2-0 win at Crewe and hopes to be fully fit for the start of the season.

He added: "It's always nice to get back to work and start training with all the team-mates. Of course, all my team-mates have been in Asia but I have been training with a couple of them and it's nice to feel the grass, feel the atmosphere again and start to prepare for the new season.

"I'd played two friendly games already and am preparing well in myself. I hope, when the season starts, I will be at my best to help the team. I think there's still a lot of work [to do] but, in one more week, then I will be at my best."

Cesc should consider joining Utd. He won't have much chances in Barca this season and with the World Cup coming up after this season, he should be looking for more play time in Utd and to be selected in Spain squad. Should be a good move.

As I've said before, £40mil can be used to buy more than one player. Buy Marco Reus and Christian Eriksen also okay ma. Then if got spare, buy Garay lor

So... guess that release clause wasn't triggered after all biggrin.gif

Thiago = wasn't a target, or wasn't a firm target, or wasn't interested (depending on what/who you believe)
Afroman = wasn't a target
Strootman = looks like he wasn't either

That leaves... Cabaye, Modric (speculated targets) and Fabregas (confirmed target, but with a surprisingly transparent attempt to sign him)

Good for fans
Not so good for businessmen looking for "flexibility"

Reasons are indicated in the article itself

What makes you think that Dortmund would sell their player like Reus to United "cheaply"? He will be their main striker, or one of the main strikers besides Lewa

who would leave eventually plus he has a contract until 2017.

Christian Eriksen, once a hot prospects but seem to quieten down after last season, and I think the squad already have plenty of potential players. I don't agree

on Garay, as we have whom might already past their best but still very good experienced defenders in Rio and Vida, plus the massively talented Smalling and

Jones. What's the point of adding Garay, where we have another potentials like Keane? Unless there are plans to sell Vida and/or Rio, don't think that move

make sense. That would be just another panic buy IMHO.

tbh, i dun think feillani is good cm/dm area. i seldom see him played there. moyes always played him played as amc or behind the strikers

btw, i really hope cesc will come here. i think he'sthe missing link

Rumor has it that Fellaini played very well for his old club in the DM position when his old club beat Everton in a knockout competition. That was what convinced Moyes to get him in the first place. After that, due to the injury crisis in attack, Cahill, and after that, Fellaini was drafted in as a target man in attack.

It's a move aimed to protect old trafford, but the Glazers are worried it would affect share prices because in business terms, this means the club has lost one option to raise cash flow.

That's true. Dortmund have lost their best players for consecutive seasons for the past few years. But always only one key player per season and always only after they find a replacement. They lost Gotze this season (which is why Lewandowski is stuck in Dortmund this season) and they are already bound to lose Lewandowski next season to Bayern Munich. Why would they want to sell Marco Reus to us this year or next year? And cheaply at that?

As for the defenders, Evans/Rio - Vidic will probably be our first choice partnership in the coming season with Evans and Rio rotating. Jones next in line and Smalling last. We really do have enough defenders already, although left back doesn't look solid. Buttner still doesn't defend as well as he attacks. I hope Fabio can step up there and we can then push Buttner forward as a winger. But so far, Fabio has been played on the right and we also bought another young right back. We really seem overloaded there. I wonder why.

Of course Dortmund won't sell Reus but he makes a good transfer target. I have a soft side for Dortmund, but I don't recall myself saying that we can buy him 'cheap'. Don't make assumptions that I said that. I did not say how much we should pay for him.

Garay is a good backup should Vida or Ferdy gets injured. They are above 30's mind you, I surely do not believe Evans and Smalling are formidable enough to dethrone both Ferdy and Vida. One each is fine, two together, no. Only Jones is the reliable one who is also versatile.

Of course you didn't say Reus is a cheap target. Good target yes, but you did say 40 mil can be used to buy more than one player. For a player still in a long

contract, Reus wouldn't be available cheap. Eriksen is rumoured to be worth around 12-15 mil in today's market. Reus to be worth 25 mil "only"? I don't think so.

Not sure 40 is enough to buy those two, as you said.
