Good performances by United. Great goals by Lingaard too. I still think United need an experienced midfielder (s) and play the youngsters occasionally.

Well I guess if Fab's deal is off, I think Cabaye is a good alternative. He may not be that young anymore but he could fill in the gap between the experienced
(Carrick/Giggs) and the still learning/potential players like Lingaard, Janujaz, Clevs and Ando. Plus, I think he is a good all-round players, the type of player United need. Just a matter of whether he is available at the right price, or not. |

Gundogan would be a great move, if he is available at a right price. Anything more than 20 or at least 25 mil is an overkill I think.

Add Fellaini, or even Cabaye for some steel in midfield, and let the flair players like Ando, Clev, Kagawa and potentially Adnan to be the playmakers.

QUOTE(zwanvedder @ Jul 29 2013, 09:46 PM) I somehow agree. He is not as speedy as Messi but has the footballing brain and skills. Just need more real game time I think. Lingaard is showing his class to in front of goal. In terms of attacking players, we have abundance of potential players there, but still need someone disciplined enough in the middle of the park. |

Fact: Anderson plays the most minutes in this tour
Surprised me a bit too but he does look abit fitter and not that fat like last season. If he can keep this kind of fitness, another season would be enough. Last chance to prove himself by playing regularly and keep himself fit throughout the season. Either way, I don't think he is the Fletcher/Kedira type which I think we are lacking now. We have the flair players but no players to do the dirty work. |

Like what the others say, For every Zidane, there's Makalele or Vieira or Deschamps. For every Goetze and Lewadownski, there is Gundogan and Bender. Depending on Fletcher's situations, I think we need another midfielder, to partner Carra or be backup. Hopefully Carra can play whole season like last and continue playing for a few more years, but we need someone to fill the void between the raw youngsters with potentials and the senior ones. Just hope Anderson and Clevs can prove us wrong this season. |

Well I guess that is his nickname based on his twitter handle? carra16 or something
Carra = Carrick CODE Michael Carrick has obviously found a loophole in his Manchester United contract that says that the need to wear a club suit doesn’t extend to donning matching footwear. The midfielder touched down in Hong Kong for the next leg of the champions’ pre-season tour of Asia wearing club suit, tie, formal shirt… and black pumps. The England international’s decision to team-up his official formalwear with early-1990s PE footwear caught the eye of former team-mate Gary Neville. He tweeted: “You got blisters Carra’s or am I falling behind in the fashion stakes? (Or both?)” This post has been edited by gr8fr8: Jul 30 2013, 01:33 PM |

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Aug 1 2013, 09:53 AM) As I've said before, £40mil can be used to buy more than one player. Buy Marco Reus and Christian Eriksen also okay ma. Then if got spare, buy Garay lor What makes you think that Dortmund would sell their player like Reus to United "cheaply"? He will be their main striker, or one of the main strikers besides Lewawho would leave eventually plus he has a contract until 2017. Christian Eriksen, once a hot prospects but seem to quieten down after last season, and I think the squad already have plenty of potential players. I don't agree on Garay, as we have whom might already past their best but still very good experienced defenders in Rio and Vida, plus the massively talented Smalling and Jones. What's the point of adding Garay, where we have another potentials like Keane? Unless there are plans to sell Vida and/or Rio, don't think that move make sense. That would be just another panic buy IMHO. |

Then if got spare, buy Garay lor Of course you didn't say Reus is a cheap target. Good target yes, but you did say 40 mil can be used to buy more than one player. For a player still in a long contract, Reus wouldn't be available cheap. Eriksen is rumoured to be worth around 12-15 mil in today's market. Reus to be worth 25 mil "only"? I don't think so. Not sure 40 is enough to buy those two, as you said. |

Bologna midfielder Saphir Taider's agent has told Corriere di Bologna that Manchester United are tracking the 21-year-old.
CODE by Football365 Alright. A new name to be discussed. Never heard of him. Have to resort to the virtual world to have any sort of ideas regarding this player. |

QUOTE(Sifha238 @ Aug 2 2013, 06:33 PM) Should we play 3-5-2 with 3 center back, 2 wing back ? We have always used wingers but the fact is your current selection are either not very good-Young & Valencia, not ready yet-Zaha, or wildly inconsistent and a bit of a tool-Nani. We not currently got Kanchelskis / Giggs / Beckham / Ronaldo (Obviously we still have Giggs, but he's not a winger anymore). So, problem of sub-standard wingers. Raphael and Evra, both cracking players but who are great going forwards. Being wing-backs gives them more freedom to attack with extra defensive cover behind. Understudies could be Valencia (good at running up and down the right touchline lots) and Buttner (best have as many defenders between him and your own goal as possible). Sorted We have 5 center back that can be used anytime (unless they get injured at same time Vidic, Ferdinand, Evans, Jones, Smalling (sorted by who i think better) You will still need to sign a central midfielder, but I challenge you to find any formation which will work with only 1 good player in the middle (Carrick). Just buy Fellaini/Khederia and put us out of our misery. |

QUOTE United Should Play 3-5-2 Ok Moyes/United fans/MUFC in general, time's up. I've waited for you to figure this out for yourselves but you haven't, so I'll solve your problems for you. Here it is...get ready... 3-5-2! That's right, that fancy foreign formation. Why? Well, let me explain: Up-front RVP and Rooney both able to play in their favoured 'out and out striker' roles AND Kagawa behind them in the 'number 10' role everyone is so keen to see him in. Sorted. "But we always use wingers!" I hear Utd fans protest. Yes, you have always used wingers (and to very good effect) but the fact is your current selection are either not very good (Young, Valencia), not ready yet (Zaha), or wildly inconsistent and a bit of a tool (Nani). You've not currently got Kanchelskis & Giggs or Beckham & Giggs or Ronaldo & Giggs (Obviously you still have Giggs, but he's not a winger anymore). So, problem of sub-standard wingers: Sorted Raphael and Evra, both cracking players but who are better going forwards then back. Being wing-backs gives them more freedom to attack with extra defensive cover behind. Understudies could be Valencia (good at running up and down the right touchline lots) and Buttner (best have as many defenders between him and your own goal as possible). Sorted Centre backs can be any from the large selection of good but regularly injured selection and Utd. If Jones is in then he can step up into midfield to help out and do his funny faces there. Sorted You will still need to sign a central midfielder, but I challenge you to find any formation which will work with only 1 good player in the middle (Carrick). Just buy Fellaini/Khederia and put us out of our misery. Anyway, that's my plan. Bearing in mind the fact that Moyes definitely won't use this formation, I can confidently say that if Man Utd employ these ideas they will win the Premier League, Champions League and WC2014. Ali PNE P.S. Last season's Premier League champions changing to an unfamiliar three at the back system? What could possibly go wrong? Kind of makes you wonder how SAF managed to win the league last season with this squad. He was very special
DM is still trying to learn about his players (I think - being positive here players and position (Kagawa on the left and Janujaz being the number 10 in the first half). Ando and Clev in the middle did mean that midfield is lightweight and almost zero cover in the middle defensively. I think Kagawa did get into good positions a few times at least. His teammates should trust him more and pass a simple ball back to him rather than crossing blindly sometimes. On the positive side, no one got injured |

QUOTE(IronLionZion @ Aug 10 2013, 04:09 PM) Well, tomorrow will be his competitive debut. We'll judge him after that. I guess the likes of Evra, Rafael and RVP were rested for this match. IMHO, those two can play together, but only with another player behind them as cover like Carrick. If only those two, it will spell disaster as neither is discipline And surely he has to realise that Anderson and Cleverley cannot play together. enough to stay behind if the other one is going forward. Even if either does that, both are pretty lightweight and not really workaholic defensively. |

I am really liking Zaha a lot. Always attracting extra defenders, and giving other players more space. Valencia looked sharp-ish. Less burden after shirt number change?
