Modric? for me he is likely to stay at Madrid. so his status is like Fabregas. possible to lure him away but at the price we cant afford. and the player himself not really want to move.

iirc Ancelotti was the Chelsea manager wanted to buy Modric before Levy forced to sold him to Madrid. so Modric know he will have a good chance, despite Illarramendi purchase. Alonso with his fitness and age, will be the bit part CM for Ancelotti.

Modric is good, but Man Utd need to add steel to the midfield. The type of Essien or Makelele who has strength and stamina that can do the dirty job and at the same time can pass and has good long range shot. Gundogan fits the criteria.

For the here and now, we should buy Fellaini; I cannot understand why we haven't already. We already have plenty of creativity in the ranks; especially when you look at the kids coming through, such as Januzaj and Lindgard, and players such as Zaha and Kagawa feeding the strikers. Bring in Fellaini to play alongside Carrick and to provide the muscle and foundation to allow the forwards to play. I don't care about 'marquee signings'. I just want to see the right players brought in and I would be very happy with Fellaini. Throw in Cabaye and we'll be sorted - imagine in big games playing a 4-3-3/4-5-1 with a midfield three of Carrick, Fellaini and Cabaye; the balance would be awesome
