Purely based on rumours, if United could really get Ozil or even Modric, that would be fine piece of business (depending on the price, still good business). Perhaps

then we will understand why they left it late. Bayern got their Thiago. Barca with their Neymar. You get the idea, that most big clubs already done their business of

major transfer dealings. That would leave only United and maybe one or two other competitions for such signings (at least less than if we try to bid for them

earlier). Having said that, I still wouldn't want any of the experienced players United already have to leave. If we add just either Modric or Ozil, United would be

awesome already. Nani/Valencia/Young back on form. Rooney to play with renewed vigour after seeing the arrival of big name players. Kagawa finally settling in at

United. RvP to continue being the top league goal scorers. Vidic to have full season (he is the key, such an immense defender!). Let younger players like Clev,

Ando, Janujaj and Zaha to play in the cup games and ride on the good team's forms. Then again, will wait until 2nd September brows.gif

morning lads...later moyesy do the SAF...trolling at its best...say wanna sign but sign no one...lol...all rumour flying kite...then he end up with the current champion squad...he do say he wud like to bring 2 players in at least...they working hard at that...come 2nd september...he sign no one...ahahaha...2 side of a coin...i think he needs to get know his current player 1st before bring someone in...he needs to see how shud he play the current team...which area he want to improved...yes we fans sees we need to buckle up signing to compete with chelsea, man city, arsenal etc...we need a midfield...he do his homework in the summer...but like he said...still its not the same when u meet the squad n see them 1st hand...maybe he feel he no need panic buy...he can squeeze n fulfil the current squad potential...

all in all...i think he is the signing of the season...SAF sign him from everton...no...i never had this kind of confident feeling past 3-4 season in term of new season...this season really excite me...cant wait tomorrow...moyesy will be a success...

Well guys, please remember these are all just rumors. No confirmation of anything yet (Ozil, Modric, Etc), other than Moyes saying United are still trying to get players. So let's not get our hopes up.

Personally, I think the midfield is still strong. Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson and occasionally Giggs. The only concern would be a backup for Carrick/replacement for Scholes. In that regard, I think Modric is not only the more achievable transfer compared to Ozil (Ozil is more favored and popular in Madrid compared to Modric), I think Modric is also the more suitable player because he can complement Carrick when Carrick is fit, and he can replace Carrick when Carrick is injured. Nice fantasy. Let's see how reality pans out.

Welbeck, RvP, Hernandez.
Adnan Januzaj, Kagawa, Rooney.
Zaha, Young, Nani, Valencia.

We're very loaded in the attackers front. It would be interesting to see how Moyes fits everyone in, what formation he will choose to use and which players, if any, he will purchase.

These are exciting times. smile.gif

^ have a read for laughter sake.

Well, midfield wise, we need another CM. good and reliable one. and hope Ando gets fitter, valencia back on form, nani back on form, kagawa playing AMF behind striker, and we're set! just I'm wondering what role will moyes put for chicha.

No way Modric can replace Carrick. Sure Modric would be a better fit because he plays a deeper position than Ozil but Modric doesn't have half the defensive acumen that Carrick has. If Carrick is injured, I think Jones will be called to play a more defensive midfield role or DM can go the dynamic midfield like what SAF did last year with Cleverley and Ando. As it stands, we don't have a direct cover for Carrick nor are any of the rumoured targets capable of replacing him.

im not sure how any new player will slot into the first team right now.

under moyes, a traditional 2 striker 4-4-2 is being used. all we can sign under this formation is replacement players for aging and some backup players.

Wingers we already have nani, valencia, young, zaha, giggs, januzaj.

Central, we have carrick, kagawa, cleverly, anderson, powell

strikers, welbs, rooney, hernandez, henriquez, rvp, macheda

defenders
rb, rafael, varela
lb, evra, fabio, buttocks
cb, evans, vidic, ferdinand, smalls, jones

with jones to go rb, cb, cm and smalls to go rb, cb, rw

i dont see where are we going to strengthen except for GK because of experience and once kagawa starts to play a little more like he did in dortmund, then i would say it would be a complete team.

we don't have Defensive Midfielder that can win the ball back...no Jones plz...stick him to CB

Anderson meh...Powell too young and will be loaned soon. Cleverley still look average to me and Kagawa can't play central midfielder...it will be suicidal

The only quality and reliable central midfielder we have is Carrick and he is 32 years old already

Man Utd need experience/world class central midfielder badly if we ever wish to win CL next season. So far IMO, we can only wish for Domestic title.

with kagawa the position is 4-4-2 diamond with kagawa in a CAM role and carrick in CM... agreed with your assessments on the players, but they will be played by moysie regardless and since he's new, he will give everyone a chance. i did not list average players like keane, bebe, wootton, amos, johnstone and some other players on tour, they dont even make the cut for our starting 11 as of now.

If moysie has the balls, kick anderson out, sideline cleverly, and get 1 top class midfielder (fabregas, eriksen, modric, SwineTiger, ozil) and a sub par one like fellaini as a backup + Willy Caballero or Sirigu. For 3 players, investments should be around 80mil. If anderson goes, around 6-8mil, rooney 35-40mil because chelski is rich.
