QUOTE(pyroboy1911 @ Jul 22 2013, 09:27 PM)
Just came back from the Sydney tour and PHEWWW! WHAT A TRIP!!

Went to their hotel on Thursday night right after arriving in Sydney, waited for about 2 hours then Rio, Adnan and Buttner had late supper...when ended, Rio came out to meet us, sign some stuff, took some pictures etc

Friday night was the training session, managed to get Anderson, Adnan and Evra's siggy. Because he was in Running Man and good fren with PJS, i said Annyeong Haseyo to Evra, he smiled and reply back laugh.gif

Initially they were to fly straight to Tokyo after the Saturday match, but they forgot that Australia has a flight curfew meaning no flights in or out airports late at night till early morning, so they had to stay another day.

So on Sunday i pretty much camped outside their hotel from 10am till they left for airport at 8pm, managed to meet Moyes, he was such a nice fellow, very eager to sign stuff for fans! Then later in the day Rio and Lindegaard walked out privately for shopping, managed to get a awesome pic with Rio, profile picture worthy laugh.gif When they leave for airport, only some players wanna sign, like Evra..but already got his so i took a pic with him instead. Then managed to get RVP there. Also Captain Robbo in between.

Also met Paddy Crerand, as he was with the MUTV crew. such a friendly person, he hugged my shoulder so tight when i took picture! then talk with him for a bit, according to him Rooney actually wanted to stay with MU, but his agent doesnt want him to make any comments about that...

amazing trip throughout. Apart from that, managed to see the trophy, join other fans at the Sydney Opera House for photo session and chanting, got interviewed by a local news here (but didnt make the cut for the news), met a few fans from Manchester who were supporters since the 40s and never missed a home game since the 80s etc. It was like a convention, fans from all over gathered and the few of us crazy enough to wait outside hotel for hours have so much to talk about even though we just met. Too bad it has to end  cry.gif

Haha...i am in Aus myself so its just a domestic flight. But yes feel very lucky to have this chance, both times the team visited Malaysia in the past few years, i was over here in Aus so always missed out. So gonna make the most of the opportunity.
Some of the pics i posted on my FB, others havent upload yet:

A combined period of more than 16 hours of waiting between the players hotel and training session  laugh.gif have the sense that my friends who arent Utd supporter think i am crazy..

CRAZY!!!! sad.gif I live 3 hrs away flight from sydney but I can't make it cos I got work/study T____T my friends all went to watch live.

So jealous =( And the news on Roo, if that's true then yay! To be honest, we have NO idea if all the rumours out there are true. could be just the media. And we might even have some signings done already without people knowing drool.gif

more photos!!!!!! biggrin.gif

btw, so is DM putting Lingaard as a regular now? hmm.gif

lol thanks. Many people liked that photo, not because they are MU fans but because they watch Running Man laugh.gif
Which part of Aus are u in? You should come, once in a blue moon opportunity, take leave for a day or two.

I think DM was playing Lingard because we really are short with wingers. i think the formation during the OZ game is 4-5-1, with Zaha and Lingard on wings, and Welbeck lone striker up front. Now that Young and Kagawa joined the team we will have more options in those position.
Pretty sure he is out injured, he is not with the team. From twitter i think he is training fitness by himself.

think south, think island, think ulu. that's where I am tongue.gif

Miss the time when I was in perth with massive crowd watching football at a place. In residential college, we have huge pack of MU fans and bunch of SG liverpool fans watching MU v Liv and screaming like mad hooligans. Good time. tongue.gif

Haih...
My humble opinion....

Zaha - Good winger, quick feet and speed. still need to brush up his vision and crossing. Good Potential

Januzaj - too raw. Not a first teamer yet.

Lingard - Very hungry, Hardworking. Should be given more oppurtunity to shine. Need more experience. But overall good player

Cleverly - I am not sure, but i think he should be given more chances to prove himself

Welbeck - Need to brush up his finishing.

Anderson - Average first half. Mediocre, sluggish, non-existant at 2nd half. This guys has been given too many chances. Didnt make any run at 2nd half. He put all the burden to cleverly to defend midfield. Fat and lazy........MUST SELL!!!!!!!

Young - JusT back from injury. Good workout. Jury is still our there
*
agree with Zaha, Lingard. We should let them play more. =) welback.... i'm having doubt. Ando should be gone sad.gif our midfield was horrible.

in recent years, arsenal hasn't been as successful as chelsea and definitely not their wage structure. but second to chelsea? I think so...

and hopefully RVP can brainwash him not to join the londeners....
*
tongue.gif pretty sure zenix was being sarcastic. icon_idea.gif

I've given up haha. dont care where he goes. I care more about WHO ARE WE GETTING. Geez Moyes, do something.

Striker wise, we have mr RVP, hernandez, and welfrontback. I'm happy with the first 2, hernandez can't play alone though. Welback finishing is horrible. Roo going is gonna be sad, but I'm sure currently we'll be ok SO LONG, we get some good midfielders. Last night was the proof. + Our back is horrible too.

rclxub.gif I iz scared for new season. but staying strong and trusting MU always rclxms.gif

cesc seems positive, well, slightly.

Fellaini, maybe time will change.

I'm hopeful of the new youngsters like ya-nu-zei and zaha. smile.gif sell nani for some $$$ and LETS GET CR+BALE+MESSI+bla bla bla bla bla.

seriously, Moyes need to be more concrete in the market. He seems to be like 'yup, we cant get these people, lets cincai get la. lets see.... Cabbage anyone? Or gundagon? "

Carrick, Cleverley, Ando, Kagawa, Powell, Lingard, Jones (DM), we are actually have a good depth at MF, just the matter whether fans and board have the patience while Moyes is nurturing some of them by giving them playing time.
*
youngsters need a lot of gymming and steroids and protein to bulk up, if not they will be flattened =P

Powell seemed to be here and there for the past few years, haven't seen his full potential, partly because we tend to use oldies.

time to let the youngsters shine. =) well, we need ONE good signing, CMF or DMF. Cesc or afro seems good.

QUOTE(sinoffire @ Jul 30 2013, 11:10 AM)
so, hope u enjoy my last long post eh? now today, back to the hot issue of midfield, which we failed to acquire a reinforcement or some sort for the past few years.

it has been some years since we ever owned a midfield general, someone that add that extra steel into the middle of the park and stamp fear into the oppositions. From those days of Keano, until the we got Hargo and then at some point we've got Fletchinho in the mix. All these 3 are the steel that a team like us sometimes need, during a different ballgame is played. While some may say Carrick is a replacement for Keano 'cos of the jersey number that he wears. Well. like all the Reds have been singing every-single-time, "There's only one Keano, there's only one Keano". Carrick is a whole new different kinda midfielder. Should I say, an all rounder. Creative + can tackle as well. The midfield requirements have evolved since those Makalele's days to those of Pirlo-esque in the modern football world. Much like Real with Xabi, Barca with the duo, Juve with Pirlo, Spurs with Modric previously. I knew we were onto something great the moment Carrick's deal was sealed. True enough, we won few trophies with him on our side, the creative force behind. But he can't operate alone, there must be someone next to him sweeping, mopping. Hence, a few of midfielders were brought in to complement Carrick. Ando, Clev, Fletchinho. I do not understand the cry for a midfield general so urgent that it needs to be acquired this season. It is good if we do get one. It doesn't mean the end of the world if we don't get one. But then again, Carrick are not young anymore.Fletchinho's health condition is, well...... I can even obmit him outta the squad totally. Ando & Clev are stil too young and not able to step-up to the job, yet. We need to think far, far ahead now. How many in the academy are close enough to feature in first team squad regularly? Well, we had one, but he went to Juve and flourished there. The rest is history.  I've always told AuRevoir that if we ever to dive into the transfer market and get busy, we will need to get 2 midfielders that are of first team quality. 2 midfielders that can play day-in and out, and then at the same time and let the youngsters play a bit during injury time of last 10-15minutes of the game when we've sealed the game.

It's hard to get/unearth Carrick type of players as he possessed the creative as well as abit, mind you, abit of steel to our gameplay. I do not even hear the medias ever come out with a younger generation that is dubbed as "the next pirlo", "the next Xabi", "the next Xavi/Iniesta", "the next Carrick" thus far. All we are linked with right now, are more of those categorised as tough-tackling midfielders eg. Strootman, afroman, Marchisio, Vidal, Veloso. At the same time, we were also looking for possible replacement for Carrick, which bring us to Thiago, Cesc & Gundogan. AND NO, JONESY & GIGGSY ARE NOT MIDFIELDERS!

Some might say, "Hey, we've been winning the league even without addition of midfielders, why change it? If it aint broken, don't fix it." Those who asked this question are clearly those that only satisfied at what they have at current state and do not wish to improve anymore. The future guys, the future. I don't wanna see both Carrick and Fletchinho play until they're 40. I even hope Rio can retire next year when he's 35! Act ASAP before the market gets even more inflated that it is now.

On a sidenote, the whole Thiago + Cesc saga is kinda like a "revenge" to what those 2 spanish giants did to other teams when comes to bidding for player(s). At first, they'll declare their interest via their "designated" local newspapers. This will last for few weeks while waiting for the player's  response. However there's no official bid amount tabled at all. In football world, this is supposed to be illegal as this means "tapping up" the player. Right, the player's camp responded. Those 2 feckers teams will kept on strutting their stuff via the newspaper, again. They have successfully "unsettled" the player. The player now would wanna held talks with his club officials about a move to those 2 clubs after reporting interest via the papers. Remember, stil no official bid at this stage. Then, talk broke down. Player asks for transfer request. Club has to sell cos no point having a player whose heart is no longer here. BAM! Sounds familiar??

Have faith in Moyes. Like SAF said during his last speech on the pitch:
Your job now is to stand by our new manager.

skian, tima kase.  nod.gif
*
even IF we don't buy anyone else, I would like to see the youngsters develop this season or two =) they seem promising. Moyes has been trying things here and there during preseason so he will know what is best. personally would LOVE a midfield general. Even afro would do. but apart from Ando, the rest of the team is playing well, just combinations need to be adjusted. Kagawa is no where near his top form to be honest, and hope he reaches. Nani, valencia when top form are crazy. Seems like Fabio has been handed some playing time and establishing himself. onwards march! biggrin.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
