Hi, I don't own any unit right one, but I'm very interested to buy a new phone and HTC One was top of my list until someone said that Android's gadget lag after a month of use or so, which I've already read/watch online since a while, but never really took it seriously. I hope here, I can get some response.

Is this true for all Android's gadgetry or the problem is hardware dependent ? I fall in love in the design of HTC One, but now, I'm starting to lean to iPhone 5.

Btw, the person that told me that uses a Note 2.

Thanks for ur response.

So, u mean, it might happen to just any phone regardless of the OS, depending on what kind of apps that we keep installing into the device ? I might just look into that.

Does 'rooting w/ custom ROM' is something that average users like me can afford to delve in ? The term is kinda alien to me, sorry that I ask.

P/s : Eid Mubarak to HTC One owners that celebrate it. Hopefully we got something from Ramadan that just passed us, and hopefully we'll live long enough to meet it again next year.

You heard that from an iPhone user, right? LOL..most android phone especially those released since Q3 2013 till now are smoother than iPhone 4, or as smooth as iPhone 4s or 5.. Actually, it the Android system itself, evolves and getting matured.. jellybean marks the maturity of android system.. When Android is equally smooth as iPhone 5, but having more features than iPhone, so u think yourself where your rm2k worth spend. At the end of the day, it's your personal preference.. It's not android nor iPhone is better than the other, they are a totally different ecosystem .. Unless if you ask, is HTC One better than S4, we might have more opinion.

cannot compare with iOS. iOS is limited by apple which only can access to those UI. cannot add widget, customize anything by your own.

android can add widget, customize homescreen, more and more.. so same hardware, different performance, it's confirmed ady.. so if u heard someone said android lag, this might need to see whats phone he is using, what he do on his phone.

mostly lag is caused by limitation of hardware (RAM). when your RAM is 512mb or 1GB, its might not enough. let say for a normal social people.. confirm use, fb, twitter, messenger, viber, whatsapp, line, wechat (i assume he have used these apps). all of these are running in background, and consume RAM. so in the end u might only left 100~200mb free RAM.. hardly to let u access other apps smoothly..

go for any mainstream brand phone with 2gb RAM, i can say hardly notice the laggy in phone. HO,S4,XZ,N4 and others..

The design is one thing. Its performance and software is equally great as well. The previous Sense for older HTCs are laggy and not known to be smooth. But this Sense 5 for HTC One is super fast and snappy. You'll be surprised by its performance.

Do yourself a favor and go try the phone first.  icon_rolleyes.gif

You like the phone? tell us why a bit.
By the way congrats for being the first user to have the Red One!!  notworthy.gif
Good evening.
Happy Hari Raya Aidilfitri // Şeker Bayramı // Zuckerfest
At first, it`s not really honorable to be the first one with this phone.
I only went to the store and buy it.
But thank you. My first time to be the first one.
aehmmmm ok not really but that`s another story. whistling.gif

And I like the phone cause of the colors. Red and black it`s a really cool combination.
My wife has the black one, looks very nice too but no comparison.
And the body of this phone is phenomenal.
It´s like a piece of art in your hand.
The body is not really matt and not really metallic.
It feels a little bit silky matt and a bit raw.
And than the lights and shadows at the polished edges.
I think it`s a beauty.

And the other argument, for buying was the performance.
Oh my oh my, what a display.
The blink feed would called a killerapp, if it build in an Apple.
Blink feed, is a very cool gadget and is often in use by me.
But you know all about the features and hardware.
And i think your decision for this phone, came also for the stated reasons.

Lag exist in pretty much every computing machine.Trick is to minimize them.Android has come long way since the version 2.3 days.Pre 2.3 did have issues with performance because Google was more concerned with OS/hardware adaptation. Aside from immature OS OEM's bloatware did cause some lagging issues with earlier Android devices.

With Android 4.1 things have changed.Android devices from major OEM's have good performance and user experience (in Samsung's case bit bloated perhaps).
To help reduce the lag issue even more Google recently added fstrim support in Android which already showing noticeable long term performance boost in older devices.

I have used current major 3 mobile OS. I have to say each of them has it own advantages. Frankly speaking iPhone is a good device because it doesn't need any learning curve in order to use it. However if you want to customize something you're out of luck. Also transferring media via cable is pain in the @$$.

I never own HTC One myself (I'm Nexus 4 owner) but I've used it extensively & I can say it's a solid device & you can get almost all the Google services in Malaysia. The UI/UX is quite simple & easy to use. Eventually you will encounter some minor issues but you can always Google to solve the issue.

My choice will be HTC One simply because I hate iTunes.

Not everyone have the technical knowledge to modify device software. Regular end users should be provided stable & reliable software for daily usage.

As long as you only download apps from recognized app store like Google Play or Amazon I don't think you'll get the rogue apps. Some apps use higher than usual resource. You can always check which app does this and remove them.

HTC One's software is just fine for average users.IMO there's no need to modify much.Anyway in order to root you're required to unlock the device at HTCDev website. This will void warranty I'm sure you don't want that.

I myself prefer black. More owners of the white/silver though. Black is more low profile. Or you could go for Red brows.gif

he speaks the truth and share the same opinion as I.

Coming from ios. Itunes is a pain in the ass.
Sense 5 to me, considered as a major improvement, compared to previous sense version.

It could mean two things ; either the phone is well received or HTC didn't really bother to revise the prices. You can get cheaper price from other sellers though.
