QUOTE(Kim0207 @ Aug 4 2013, 02:10 AM) Pre-order only on Greenmangaming.com & Zavvi.com, but like i said, PC CE already finish. If you still want CE & play on PC, you buy 1 PC normal edition, buy PS3 CE. Perks getting both is that you can play in either platform still using your same characters. This post has been edited by shojikun: Aug 4 2013, 02:12 AM |

Question for those veteran players:
I really dislike crafting & gathering...can I do well in FF XIV without learning/doing/leveling those crafting & gathering skills? Example: Maybe there's quest that needs crafting/gathering skills? So if I don't level my crafting/gathering skills, I'll miss out all the EXP & rewards? How many such quests? Maybe crafting/gathering is a very lucrative thing to do? Maybe it's a main source of income? Seriously I hate gathering/crafting...would love to know how much weight these thing have in FF XIV. EDIT: Ok...I don't really mind gathering/crafting something that I can use...like potion/boost/(repair kit? do we need to repair gear in FF XIV?). Or gather/craft furniture for my house... But I do not like to do such activity too much either...10% of play-time is ok...anything more than that, I start to feel I rather don't it... What I really hate is to gather/craft gears, and in the end these things just pile up, because I find no use for them other than sell them to NPC or other player...and I hate to gather/craft something just so that I can sell for money. Firstly u can entirely level ur other jobs without touching ur crafting jobs, no issue at all. As for quest, there are many types of quest in game. If u arent going for crafting then jsut dont take crafting leves(you will understand this when ur in game). Crafting leves are design to help you level your crafting jobs. Please bear in mind that crafting leves only gives u experience for your crafting jobs. In simple if u do botanist field leves, you only get exp points for botanist, you do not get exp for other jobs. In terms of gears, dont worry cause normal quest will drop you gears that will be sufficient for you to hit 50, besides this, there are also dungeons. If you want epic gear then you can buy them from other players who are pro at crafting but bare in mind this will probly cost u a BOMB lol tbh i feel you shouldnt drop crafting as crafting in this game is a different game by itself. basicly you can totally just play crafting without ever worrying to level the war jobs n magic jobs. i personally like to level crafting along side with other jobs as this would complement my character progress. imagine leveling alchemist alongside with ur main jobs, u would probly save a lot on those pots my personal plan is to get grand company asap then i can probly start leveling my craft as company does help a lot on leveling crafting too. QUOTE(unknowngst @ Aug 4 2013, 08:21 AM) Question for those veteran players: OMG you remind me when started playing FFXIV long time ago. Last time its all about Experience Points and Skill Points and Fatigue. It took over 1 months to get my Pugalist Skill to 20. Every 7 days you will hit Fatigue and slowly your SP earn from fighting mobs will get to zero LOL. You wont get Skill Point from killing a mob.. you get it from hitting it with your weapon T_TI really dislike crafting & gathering...can I do well in FF XIV without learning/doing/leveling those crafting & gathering skills? Leveling Craft/ is terrible too .. everytime hit fatigue have to do something else ... progress is really slow .. that why so many quits. Really 1.0 gives me lots of good memories... |

nv ever drop crafting in ff series.
It's an income source*unless u buy gil*. Take it slowly and advance steadily. There wont be any difficulties or problems to get to max level. There wont be any difficulties in attaining gears too. But it will be rather difficult to get gil and skilling up craft in later stages. Players who told u that gil is easy to farm is just plain bs. Once u hit endlevel stages, endgear will just be out of reach to u. |

Umm....ok...so it seems that I can't escape certain form of gather/craft in FF XIV...
I think I'll skip all those gear-crafting ones, and probably only go after those crafting consumables/potion/boost....from what I read in official website, I assume the following ones are those not gear-crafting related: - Botanist - Fisher - Chef - Alchemist I ASSUME Botanist go with Alchemist, and Fisher go with Chef...am I right? Or Alchemist/Chef depends not only on Botanist/Fisher? (Can't imagine Chef depends on miner, for example...) Which combo will save me more gil? I really hate wasting time on gathering/crafting...I assume Fisher will be idling a lot? Hard to find spot? Maybe I should just stick with Botanist+Alchemist... Anyone has a good link on overview of all crafting jobs? Like, how much investment in terms of time/gil, how long it took to level, the item crafted easy to sell or not, etc etc? I remembered, I level up my craft because I want easily to fix my own gears. Penalty of damaged gears from death and even when you get damage is so dreadful in 1.0. When leveling pug, I will level my leatherwork, goldsmith, weaver just for the sake of repairing own gears. After pug got 50, I level up marauder, and I have to level up Blacksmith and Armorer and so on when leveling other class. Only Alchemy, Fisher and Culnarian that still in progress... About money, luckily in 1.0 reward (gil) from leve is really awesome. After alots of updates the reward became really low >.< |
