What is Final Fantasy XIV : A Realm Reborn?

Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn is the "re-launch" version of the September 2010 Launched MMORPG, which was an uber and epic failure of a MMORPG. Despite being known as the worst launched MMORPG, they have admitted at fault, apologize and reshuffle the Development Team, with a brand new Director, Naoki Yoshida or known as Yoshi-P. Thus the first Final Fantasy XIV is reknown as Version 1.x. During his duration of overseeing and responsible to fix the mess that the old Development Team produce, SquareEnix CEO Yoichi Wada (Now former CEO) announce that the game will be free till it is fixed. So it begun the day where true fans of the game sticking to the game like glue and await the miracle patch that we thought it will come. The change to the game begin to see some significant enjoyment up to patch 1.21 where they announce that they are reinstating the Pay 2 Play for a the period of time, also announce... the version 2.0, where the whole game is being rebuild and was said to have already begun prior to patch 1.16. Meaning that they were doing Parallel Development where there not only keep updating the 1.X servers with Contents but also secretly building a whole new client, new engine behind our backs! The best thing about it that we are able to see the change that were made in 1.0, the storyline that lead to the epic ending of the server shutting down. And long story short. Here we are now.. entering the new age of A Realm Reborn. xD

Now enough of history let us go to the real deal about the game!

~: Frequent Asked Questions :~

Is this game Subscription base or Free to Play or Buy to Play?

- This game is using the Subscription base where you have to pay monthly to pay.
*For information on the rates of Subscription please read below.

Is this game Region Lock?

- No, this game is not region lock, you can buy any version of the game and still play in any servers that they offer.
- However, when it comes to Accounts, say if you bought EU version of the game, you will have to register an EU account instead.

There is a PS3 version & PC version?

- Yes, both PS3 & PC players are playing in the same server, the unique Final Fantasy MMO is that they aim for True Cross Platform.

If i want to play on both platform do i need to purchase both?

- Yes, you will be required to purchase both version of the game and link both registration code to your Square Enix Account Management under the same Final Fantasy XIV service Account (More explaination about Square Enix Account Management & Service Account below).

Where do i buy the game?

Most recommended is buying it from greenmangaming.com for Digital Download, while for physical boxes thou may not have pre-ordered bonus, you may try asking Qishan, Impulse Megastore, HeavyArm & CK Multimedia System. Other way is by Amazon.co.uk, Zavvi.com or Play-Asia.com. Another Digital Download thou i find it expensive, is offgamers.com

Which version do you recommend to buy?

I really recommend you EU version, why? because of Malaysia is under the service of EU Region, getting NA(US) version is very hard, and often very expensive to get unless underground connection, also you may face problem in future when you want to buy expansion and or policy change where the NA region does not accept our Credit Card/Debit Card.

But.. don't paying in EU region is expansive?

Technically if you choose a region that is paid with Euro, yes it is EXPANSIVE. but if you pay with Pound instead, it'll be cheaper.
Here the reason why:

Entry Level
7.69 GBP / 10.99 EUR / 12.99 USD - 30 Days subscription base

Standard Level w/Tier
£8.99 / 12.99 € / 14.99 USD - 30 days/month
£8.39 / 11.99 € / 13.99 USD x 3 month - 90 days
£7.69 / 10.99 € / 12.99 USD x 6 month - 180 days

Conversion are as follow base on 17th July 2013

12.99 USD = 41.37 MYR
10.99 EUR = 46.10 MYR
7.69 GBP = 37.01 MYR

Can you now see the difference up there? EU(UK Country) by longest time will be cheaper by RM 3.00 ~ RM 4.00. So please when registering SQEXAM, Please choose EU Region, then United Kingdom as Country of choice.

Ok.. but now what is Standard & Entry Level?

First off in Final fantasy XIV, you only need 1 character to enjoy the whole content, in One Character you can change your Class Role to any other Role (Say you main Tank as paladin, but want to change healer White Mage) by just equipping a different weapon. Thus really eliminating the need of an Alt.

So now that you understood that. Below are the Entry & Standard Overview

Entry level is the cheapest for the service, comes with only able to create 1 character in 1 server. Maximum characters you are able to make with Entry Level is 8.
Standard Levels gives you 8 slot of Characters in 1 server, Maxmium characters you are able to make with Standard Level is 40.

In a situation where you choose Standard, created let say 4 characters, 3 characters in same server, 1 character in other servers. And you decided to switch to Entry level.
What is going to happen is that you will be choosing which of the 3 characters to stay active. While the 1 character in other servers will remain active, this because is different server. Only Same server characters will need to be choose to stay active.

Understanding the Square Enix Account Management & the Service Account.

To register for an Square Enix Account Management (SQEXAM) click here

The SQEXAM is the main account that you will be using to log into the game. Once you have registered an Account and already have the Registration Key Code that you obtain by purchasing the Game, you will be keying the Key into your SQEXAM as a Service Account.

Service Accounts are the Service the SQEXAM Manages, or game services.

INCASE YOU HAVE ACCIDENTLY INPUT AN EU PRE-ORDER CODE INTO A NA ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

QUOTE(lordsapt @ Jul 22 2013, 11:57 PM)
let me share my experience with those who have bought fr gmg who is very confuse.

Now firstly, if u buy FFXIV:ARR from gmg, u will be given an activation code. Now this code is EU region. This activation code is not the original game code but it is an early access code. I have spoken to gmg support to confirm this. In the email they have provided 2 websites.

The first WEBSITE1 is for you to put an email account so that they could inform you when the game is launching.

The 2nd website2 is actually an EU SE website for you to key in ur early access code which was provided. The email actually says you can do 1 step in advance to register ur current early access key to the EU SE website.

Now my issue was i have registered an NA(North America) SE management account (SE management accounts are for you to subscribe to the game). I have use this account to log into website2 and key in the early access code as well. The game did register itself in website2 BUT it DID NOT reflect in my NA SE management account. At this point i was very worried so i wrote into SE support. i have chat with them through live chat for around 30mins. They have inform me that since the game is in eu region, it is impoosible to register the game in the NA SE management account hence i wont get to subscribe to the game with my NA SE management account. I ask them what if i made a new EU(Europe) SE management account and then register the game. They say it will work BUT i will lose the early access gifts since i already registered the early access code. Bare in mind even if your account is an EU SE management account, it will not reflect too according to support since they have not finalize anything yet. In the end they ask me to request for a new code from GMG.

Hence i wrote to GMG regarding my conversation with SE support. They find it too troublesome to change my activation code so they REFUNDED.I have made a new EU SE management account too. Ultimately i bought the game again from them and this time round i decided to hold on to the early access code until further notice.

So for those who bought from GMG, i strongly suggest you hold on to the code and do nothing besides going to WEBSITE1 to input ur email.

Hope this clear things up for those who bought from GMG

Other Question about Community

The Oceania/SEA community will be most prominent in Japanese servers. It has been long decided that Masamune & Tonberry will be the home for such occasions.

Why two servers? because Masamune is heavily a lot of 1.0 players be it new character created or otherwise old farts like me staying in Masamune.

Tonberry is for fresh starters.

But if you are one of those odd balls that play during NA prime time (Afternoon time that is) Behemoth & Sargatanas should be the best to get to see Oceania/SEA players as well.. smile.gif thou their numbers are by far lowest.

Below are my opinion thou it still yours to decide.

Leveling have been made super easy to progress that you wont be felt left out so much.
Pros of Legacy Server (Where you will see people who have already made progression much up to even max level)
  • Economy which are much stable, as there will be more supplies than demands
  • All of 1.0 Players gils are denoted by 1 zero. (Eg. my gils in 1.0 server is 1million, in ARR is 100k gil now).
  • Knowledgeable Veterans who actually are more friendlier than other MMOs community you've met on other MMOs.
  • Not every Legacy/1.0 Players are level 50. Many are still leveling.
  • Have veterans to help newbies. Unless jerks tongue.gif
  • Will mostly be the loyal fans of the games. Even if the game doesn't garner enough people on new server, legacy servers community will stay strong because of Loyalist.
    Cons of Legacy Server
  • Markets are very competitive.
  • Most supply will be in Higher Tier, Lowbies will probably have small problems.
  • For the hardcores would or might not be able to attend the 1st in Servers.
  • Legacy Players (not all 1.0 players are Legacy) got nifty forever discount.
  • Goobbue Mount may not be obtainable.
    Pros of New World Server
  • All players starting in same field
  • Able to get First in server achievement (but of course if you're hardcore enough).
  • Most are on the same level of knowledge. They might be some from 1.0 who are restarting a new.
  • Market is zero
    Cons of New World Server
  • Market are still competitive but at a lower rate than Legacy Server.
  • Demand is too high, supply is low.
  • Might be more slow than Legacy Server since everyone are still leveling up.
  • If the hype of the game doesn't meet expectation, the server you on may dwindle slowly.
You can test ping server with this two IPs

NA&EU : 199.91.189.21
JP : 124.150.157.36

NA & EU servers are shared in same Data center in Montreal, Canada.

#How do I remove the Square Enix Security Token from my account?

To remove the security token, log into the Square Enix Account Management System and go to "Services/Options"->"One-Time Password"-> "Security Token Usage Settings"->"Security Token Removal."

After removing the Security Token, you will not need to enter a one-time password when you log in.

* After removing a Security Token, you will not be able to use it again. If you wish to use a Security Token in the future, you will need to purchase a new one.

* When the character is registered to a PlayOnline ID that uses a Mog Satchel in Final Fantasy XI, the Security Token can be used even after removing it. After removing the Security Token from a PlayOnline ID, the characters on that ID will not be able to use the Mog Satchel.

What is an Emergency Removal Password?

The Emergency Removal Password allows you to forcibly remove the Software Token application from your account in situations where you cannot log in with a One-Time Password, such as if your smartphone is lost or stolen.

Make sure to note down your Emergency Removal Password and store it in a safe place.

Please visit the following page for instructions on how to perform an emergency removal.

Yes you can.

Send'ed a ticket to Support

My question was

I would like to know if let say i am subscript to the Standard level, is it possible to subscript to Entry Level? If it possible how and what happen to my other character slots and if it possible to choose which one will be active?

QUOTE
Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

If you were looking to subscribe to entry level FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn, you would select this option when reactivating the service.

As all characters are currently inactive, you would be able to choose which character you wanted to use.

The other characters you may have used previously would normally have their data guaranteed for three months, although this can sometimes be longer. This means if you wanted to use one of the other characters at a later date, this should be possible.

We trust this will resolve the issue for you, however if you have any further questions, do not hesitate to get back in touch.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team
