Greetings,

I am a fan of FF series since I was young, played all FF except 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13 (don't own a console...). Started with FF7, then 8, then Tactics, then 9, then starts to dig out all the previous FF smile.gif I was in secondary school back then.

I didn't play FF11 because I don't earn my own money and I was in university. I didn't play FF14 1.0 because I just started to work...but now...Now, it's high time I show some FF fan spirit smile.gif

I didn't research much about FF14 ARR, I don't know whether it is going to be great or not, but I want to salute FF series by buying the collector edition & subscribe for at least 6 months, no matter the game will get me hooked for that long or not.

Question 1:
I am not very familiar with online purchasing...I tried visiting the account link in the first post: https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/...in?cont=account

Then clicked on Create New Account. But in the list, I clicked through all the options, I can't see Malaysia or even Singapore!
How do I actually create a proper account?

Question 2:
The first post suggested to register for EU, instead of NA. But will EU lags more than NA? I don't play much MMO, but I do know that too laggy will ruin the gaming experience...
Can we only choose between EU or NA? Is there any nearer server? Like maybe in Australia?

Question 3:
I wish to buy the collector edition, any where I can get it in Malaysia? I can drive to anywhere in western peninsula.
If not, means I have to purchase online and get it delivered to me?

Sorry, I am really not too tech-savy...I never buy stuff from website except movie tickets, haha.

Question 4:
How do I pay subscription? Do I register my credit card so that it will auto-pay? or through PayPal (I never use PayPal...)?

Please, O'fellow online-purchasing veterans, enlighten me with thou wisdom, thanks.

A1: If you read front page i've posted few good website, but if you insist on a box, good luck to find one as now is probably sold out, and only left PS3 CE. Get EU version btw.
A1.1 : Malaysia is not under any region, we're ghost to SE's eyes. yes. But no fret better this way, Pick Europe, then click on United Kingdom as Country. Explaination is infront.

A2: Doesn't matter what version, we can choose any server regardless our Client Version. We're playing on JP server btw, good ping, major Oceania/SEA english speaking community in tonberry/masamune. I'm accepting newbies who starting fresh on Masamune. You're welcome to come. I'm using EU version, and playing on JP server.

A3: Malaysia would not get Collector Edition unless you ship it to Malaysia. So sadly enough that our Local Retailers unable to get Collector Edition. Thou if you are looking for PC CE, tough luck brother. is all sold out! Yes SOLD OUT! Only left Digital Version.. which u wont get the Box.
And good advice from Mr.Jotaro
*
Awww...the boxes sold out? Sad...

I know trying out OBT is a good advice in normal situation where somebody are not sure if he wanna pay/play a game or not.
But for me, as I said, I don't really care if the game is nice or not. It's just a personal gesture of salutation to FF series.
If the game is good and I get hooked for more than 6 months, great, continue pay & play.
If game sucks and I don't like it? Doesn't matter smile.gif Just stop and don't waste more time, but won't fuss about the money paid.

Back to the topic:
Playing on JP server?? I can't read nor write japanese, plus, I do not think JP will welcome outsiders playing on their server...how's their attitude/treatment towards you guys thus far?

What if GM announces something?
How about trade shouts? Wouldn't you guys missed a lot of group/trade/dungeon opportunity?

Anyone tried EU server before? Is JP smoother than EU? How much difference approximately?

You could pick which version of client, which means you could use English Client to play JP server.
*
Yes, I understand this part very well.

But that doesn't mean you will see every text in English.
Example, I play on JP server using EN client, but players can still communicate in JP.
And if you can't read/write JP (like me), then you missed all the trade/group shouts.
Plus, GM announcements, which can be quite important.

I just wish to understand 2 things before I jump in:
A) Lag
Anyone tried EU server before? Is JP smoother than EU? How much difference approximately?

B) Attitude of JP players towards non-JP.

I wouldn't consider playing in JP initially...but actually I took JP class before in university (JP 101...), so now perhaps is a good time to brush-up again biggrin.gif

BTW, I successfully Pre-Ordered digital version, and created account. But I don't see where I pay subscription...also asked to register for some Crysta thingy...not sure what's that too, lol.

Just a slow poke question.
Noticed that ff13's lightning is joining Eorzea world as an event.
And reading through some interviews..
Yoshida planned to work closely with different FF team and create a unified team.
He also mention some intention to crossover characters not only ff13 but examples like sephiroth and cloud.
So i guess they had intention to bring in others as well to revive the sales rate of ff past series.
Guess this is something like ff type zero or tatics in mmo style, yet retaining ur own character storyline.

Oh my gosshhhhh that's great news!! I want to see Orlandu!! Vivi!! Celes!! Cid!! (not telling you which Cid tongue.gif)
Oh gawd that's so exciting!!

And I am sold on playing in JP server, time to revise my Japanese 101 tongue.gif

Going to play on Masamune smile.gif Shojikun, I registered on your website.
I usually play MMO with random ppl, being able to meet different and random ppl is one of the excitement of playing MMO smile.gif
But since this time I am going to play on JP server...better have some familiar people who I can communicate biggrin.gif

Hope to you see guys there!

Need to start researching the game!!! I don't even know what classes available yet, haha!

Holy moly...I just watched the ARR trailer...the one where Bahamut came out of the moon and...and...I am speechless, that old man's expression...This CG actually made me cried!!! There's never a CG that made me cry, plus in such a short time!!! This gotta be the best CG ever made!!! Anyone know of any CG can top that? Please, I beg to know!!

And the lyrics...

Tell us why, given life, we are meant to die...

My life is a riddle to bear rupture & sorrow,
To listen to suffer and to entrust till tomorrow,
...
In the same fleeting moment thou shall live, die and know...

Total. Genius.

Initially I bought the pre-order just because it's FF and wanna show some support, knowing almost nothing about it...but now I think I just signed up for something epic...

Now I am very very interested in this game...is there a list of "what I shouldn't miss knowing"?

When is the earliest I can jump into the game?
When is beta phase 4?
How about char creation?

And, just want to make sure my understanding is correct: I get the 18 digit code, but I can't any place to put it right now. Do I have to wait till open beta before I can use the code?

Hmm...this is weird, I paid for the digital CE Pre-Order through GreenManGaming using credit card, and got the 18 digit activation key through email already...the order was completed July 28 (Sunday), but until now, I still don't see any charges landed on my credit card...
What's your experience? How long before the charges hit your card? 3 days? 5 days? Immediately?! I am starting to worry here...

Also, I got my FFXIV account created, but haven't see any email for me to key-in that 18 digit code.
Also not sure if I should start paying subscription yet?

Sorry, don't understand...

Again, I really never research this game before, I just started to look into it last Sunday, and have been busy working (NOT ON FFXIV, I mean real life job) until now...but I am really really eager to learn more and play.

I downloaded the benchmark on Monday, got over 6000 score on max settings, but I never see any character creator download thus far in the official website.

Question for those veteran players:
I really dislike crafting & gathering...can I do well in FF XIV without learning/doing/leveling those crafting & gathering skills?

Example:
Maybe there's quest that needs crafting/gathering skills? So if I don't level my crafting/gathering skills, I'll miss out all the EXP & rewards? How many such quests?
Maybe crafting/gathering is a very lucrative thing to do? Maybe it's a main source of income?

Seriously I hate gathering/crafting...would love to know how much weight these thing have in FF XIV.

EDIT:
Ok...I don't really mind gathering/crafting something that I can use...like potion/boost/(repair kit? do we need to repair gear in FF XIV?).
Or gather/craft furniture for my house...
But I do not like to do such activity too much either...10% of play-time is ok...anything more than that, I start to feel I rather don't it...

What I really hate is to gather/craft gears, and in the end these things just pile up, because I find no use for them other than sell them to NPC or other player...and I hate to gather/craft something just so that I can sell for money.

Umm....ok...so it seems that I can't escape certain form of gather/craft in FF XIV...

I think I'll skip all those gear-crafting ones, and probably only go after those crafting consumables/potion/boost....from what I read in official website, I assume the following ones are those not gear-crafting related:
- Botanist
- Fisher
- Chef
- Alchemist

I ASSUME Botanist go with Alchemist, and Fisher go with Chef...am I right? Or Alchemist/Chef depends not only on Botanist/Fisher? (Can't imagine Chef depends on miner, for example...)
Which combo will save me more gil?
I really hate wasting time on gathering/crafting...I assume Fisher will be idling a lot? Hard to find spot? Maybe I should just stick with Botanist+Alchemist...

Anyone has a good link on overview of all crafting jobs?
Like, how much investment in terms of time/gil, how long it took to level, the item crafted easy to sell or not, etc etc?

Oh my gawd...I done reading that link...turns out FF XIV has the most annoying type of crafting for a craft-hater like me...mainly due to the heavy dependencies...

I don't know...now, even Alchemist, Botanist, Chef & Fisher sounds annoying to me...even the gathering/crafting tool itself has dependencies...

Any craft-hater like me here? What's your plan?
Share some idea about what to do about crafting/gathering please.
What's the most minimum craft I need to pick-up as I level, so that I won't be too shabby in gil later?

It's not that I totally don't enjoy crafting. The only crafting I enjoyed:
- Ultima Online (the mother of all crafting...go look at the player's house...it's only limited by your creativity.)
- Shadowbane (in this one, you don't even craft yourself, just setup the crafter & vendors, then it's war-time for resources! You do the fun part, the NPCs do the boring part, GENIUS!)
- Allods Online & Age of Wushu (all crafting is a mini-game that is quite fun to play...it's quite fun for a while, but gets boring after sometime too...)

Can't find any other MMO with fun crafting...it's all the same:
Step 1: Move to the resource node.
Step 2: Click and wait some bar moving, till you get something.
Step 3: Move to some workbench, open a UI, click-click-click & wait some more bar moving...
Step 4: Repeatedly click at UI & watch bars moving till you get it...there's no challenge, no excitement...no new scenery...

Where's the fun??? It's soooo boring, waste of time and major time-sink...if not for the gil & survival, I would rather use my precious playtime on more exciting stuff like battle some monsters.

Well...anyway...I understand that's all up to personal preferences...
I am just seeking advice on how to get-by for a craft-hater like me sad.gif

So, in short, just pick up all the gathering job and gather as I level area by area?
I read that even gatherer's tool are dependent on other crafters (such as carpenter & blacksmith for the tool you use to gather resources)...*sad face* Any NPC selling these?

Wait...what? Botanist will gain Stealth skill????
I like Stealth...where to see which craft get what skill?

One more question: How easy/hard to change hairstyle/haircolor? How about other appearances, such as height, skin color, etc? How about race/gender?
Reason I ask: I can't pick between Midlander, Highlander, Seeker of Sun and Wildwood...and I don't suppose I have the time to play them all...

Also...is there any point having more than 1 character?
Like, in many MMO, usually your storage space is very limited, so people create mules...do you need such thing in FF XIV?

How's the storage space in this game, is it enough? or we will have to create mules?

I am still trying to decide if I should play Midlander, Highlander, Miqo'te or High Elf...does anyone know where I can find a gallery of armors for each races?

You sure the ping shows there is "Your ping to server"? Or is it "this website's ping to server"?
I suspect it is the later.

I can't wait too...quench the thirst by creating characters...
Created 12, only interested in playing 3...but will only have time playing 1...

Any armor gallery for FFXIV out there? Wanna check out how characters will look like, to help me decide which one to play as main.

Anyone know of any website with armor gallery for all races?

a bit hard to find for every race tongue.gif

Well, anyway, I planned to subscribe for at least 6 months, to give my thanks & support to FF series.
So I'll be going after the 6 months Standard Level subscription.
That means I can try out all 3 characters on the same server tongue.gif for the first 6 months, should be enough for me to decide which one to focus, and try out all starting areas.

I understand that different class starts at different place...how about different race? Does race affect starting area?
Total how many different starting quests/area?
At what level the quest converge? After that, does different race get different side-quest?

The only difference between race, is:
- appearance
- starting stat

That's all, right?
