I see... Not all China product are not good. Most of their headphone, DAC and amp are highly praised too. BTW, what is reputable China mech kb brand? Thinking of getting TKL with white frame within RM 300. is it possible?
*
Some goods are designed in other countries, but made in China for the reason of being cheap. If the QC is done right, it can surely produce solid stuffs as like other countries made.

If you ask for China boards recommendation, I will say:

Plum/Keycool > Noppoo/HPE > PLU and other new coming equivalent brands

For your requirement, I think Keycool is the most suitable one. Available at sub RM200 only.

China people are more crazy when it comes to stock mech keyboards.
They buy everything.

And if you visit ChipHell, those guys always buys the latest stuff.
Example, if a product is announced today, tomorrow there will be some guy who is posting unboxing or review threads.
*
Yar, I wonder if they are professional reviewer which being sponsored those boards, or they actually buy them themselves...

Also, they seems to take reviews really seriously (both writers and readers). Must read reviews before buying one.

When you recommend, what the thing that you will considered among above brand? Quality, or the failure rate? Just asking. Hehe... BTW, Plum and Keycool are two different brand right? Have you ever tried Keycool? And how much do you think postage? Reach Rm100?
*
Quality, value, feature, aftersale (in China) and experience in keyboard making.

Failure rate for the keyboards are quite rare, except you are unlucky to get lemon unit or the particular model is known for having design failure.

Though, switches failure do occur on some boards after few months' usage, not sure what's the exact reason for it.

PLUM and keycool are different brands. But they both are the OEM that made their own board (instead of rebranding boards made by other OEM).

Postage is around 2kg for a TKL. Shipping rate to EM by agent is RM20 per kg?

So they make their own board too? And what brand they OEM for? I'm a bit confuse regarding OEM. Hehe... This is the OEM that I understand.

CODE
Counter-intuitively, the term OEM may refer to a company that purchases for use in its own products a component made by a second company.[3] Under this definition, if Apple purchases optical drives from Toshiba to put in its computers, Apple is the OEM, and Toshiba would classify the transaction as an "OEM sale".

*
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is the maker/manufacturer factory.

For example, iOne and Costar are the manufacturers, and they own the facilities and making keyboard for brands like Razer, CoolerMaster and bla bla bla.

I think the question relies on, can you get used to the layout?
How much are they usually? The tkl ones. Thinking of getting one of the plum for my laptop. And the switches are the usual black, brown, blue and red?
*
For tkl87 layout, it is around 400 to 500 rmb, depend on what model you want exactly.

Hey, thanks... 96 not my taste. Already owned  104. Wah, so sexy...  drool.gif
What I mean good is custom keycaps friendly. All the recommended by Human10 looks sexy. I guess if wireless to expensive, keycool should be enough.

BTW, how to brows white frame with PBT keycaps? Is this kind of kb available at Taobao? Or get a cheap white base and buy IMSTO dye sub. Good deal?
*
Keycool seems like the best bet for your needs.

from a review at gh, key caps compability is not a problem for it.

Keycool do having white boards. Just search for keycool87 and see which seller having such option.

Tuan, Morphling Plum 87 only blue LED? And average price is RMB499 right? Seems overpriced for LED if compare to Noppoo Choc Mini. Phew... sweat.gif And I notice the spacebar are shorter. I wonder if it's easy to get this kind of spacebar like standard size.

Edit: Keycool manufactured by Costar? And can change the switch without soldering? And is the 84 Keycool have non-standard layout? Seems like the right modifier have smaller size. Too bad... sad.gif
*
Morphling 87 got non backlit version, I will recommend it over backlit version as you save quite a lot + come with POM keycaps for non backlit version.

You choose a keyboard based on what layout you want/need exactly. If you want tenkeyless 87, then find such keyboard, if you want try mini84 layout, then filter out available boards and then choose from it.

And yar, most mini84 layout boards are having nonstandard or shorter spacebar. And it is practically impossible to find short aftermart spacebar. Also, some of them even settle for different right shift, but at least it is less headache than replace spacebar.

No, keycool is the manufacturer themselves, they make their own designing and producing.

KC87 new version is otw perhaps?
new KC104 just out only and read few reviews, at least better than first version ...
*
Newer doesn't always mean better. If currently available model doesn't have too much problem, no reason to wait longer for new model (and need to wait even longer till reviews pop out).

For the new 104 part, I personally will had settle with 108 if I need a full-size keyboard.

Thanks! It looks pretty promising, but I have yet to see any review, quite skeptical about the build quality/battery life.

I found a Taiwan-based one, KBTalking Pro, not sure if you heard of it. What do you think?

http://kbtalkingusa.com/
*
I got a plum96, which is one of the ancestor for 87, and its build quality and battery life are quite OK for daily uses, nothing bothering me.

Yup, heard of it. But the high price tag, oversized chunky design, Bluetooth instead of USB wireless + unknown oem (actually some source do mention it's oem, which is an oem that normally made some other pc peripherals too) manage to prevent most of us to land our hands on it.

Can link me to Morhpling 87 non backlit? I only found the RM499. And they don't have white right? But I think wireless are better than white frame. But white frame sexy. doh.gif Confused. Hehe...

BTW, for Choc Mid and Keycool 87, which one will you prefer and why? I notice both have white frame. I read Keycool give white for PBT but not sure of the Choc Mid. And durability wise, which keycaps better? Because for these two kb, white stock keycaps doesn't need to change, sexay enough.
*
Actually those RMB499/519/549 one are indeed non backlit one. Backlit one price start from 599, ouch.

Yup, plum87 doesn't seems to have white color model yet. If you want it white, I think the nearest are plum96.

So your white fetish > your wireless fetish huh? laugh.gif

I will recommend keycool more. One reason is the default pbt keycaps, 2nd will be the low price tag, 3rd keycool's case is real solid and the design actually less edgy and more comfort over conventional square design.

Previously, there are only 2 reasons you won't want to go got keycool, which is spacebar incompability and uneven gaps problems, which now bring rectified or at least minimized.

Anyone dare to get latest kc87 ?
Feb I got the spacebar stem position still same as leopold one.
I am not sure now.

But for sub RM200 it is so worth to have PBT  drool.gif
*
Dono, the one in gh is new version with default pbt. It is having 2 possible mounting at spacebar, one is normal standard one while another probably got conventional keycool.

Yar, but if it come with blank keycaps even better. I always choose blank key over non blank one.

Yar, and it is pretty normal that you can't find something (keyboard, keycaps, accessories, springs and bla bla bla) you want locally, and the only solution is to import (and taobao is one of the easiest among them).

laugh.gif I don't know. White are unique and wireless doesn't like a big deal for me. But I do have plan for minimalism desk, wireless mouse and kb. Anyway, the problem fixed or not? I mean the spacebar and gaps. But white, PBT, and low price sound like more point for Keycool 87.
How to know if the model I get is the new one? Thinking of getting one for TKL. Damn, I regret joined this thread. Too late to regret. laugh.gif
*
Keycool is quite popular brands in China forums and gh, you can search around for their comments.

If you want to make sure it is the newest stock, I think buying from keycool's official store is the safest bet?
Also, iinm, 016's one is abs right? That probably explain why his not the latest one. Actually I also can't catch up how many version of 87 keycool had made, they even seems to change between wire style and cherry style modifier for different models, really confusing.

Nope, but I still prefer blank keys.

Alphabets are pretty fine for me (but I still tend to look at my keyboard even no words on it), the numbers rows and their symbols are a little headache.
