still trying to get used to PLUM96's layout

even though I'm leaving it in TKL mode, but I keep thinking it is numpad mode...
*
How's the stabilizer? The board is plate mounted right?

Btw, swap the cursor keys with other distinctive color keycaps so you can clearly identify that it is still there.

I was hoping to use it like a TKL, but my hands would go and type numbers on it because the keys resembles the numpad lololol
yeah it is plate mounted, but the plate seems like plastic plate.. or they use super low quality metal plate.

The wire stabs on this kb is pretty bad, especially the spacebar, the metal wire is loosy that even if you lightly touch the spacebar, it would make some wacky squeky sound.

totally in contrast with Filco, Rosewill and QFR's wire stabs.

since I don't have any extra arrow keys, so I took off the 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 keys since I don't use numpad actually. haha
*
Plastic plate? I don't think so la... May be their metal plate too thin or what I guess... But a thin metal plate increase the resonance of blue switch click, no?

I thought they use cherry style instead of costar wire style?

If you are referring to cherry style stabilizer, yar, the stabilizer wires on mine indeed do rattling when pressed (noisy wire vibrating sound), but in term of functionality it is no where near sucks. For a cherry style stabilizer, it isn't "meaty" as normal cherry stabilizer would (may be cause mine is pcb mounted?). Btw, I recently just used Vaseline to lube the stabilizer and the rattling problem is pretty much solved. Give it a try.

if i want to replace the window/FN key i need to find R1 type keycap?
*
SP's keycaps are slightly lower than normal OEM height.

And yes, you need R1 for win/FN

is this the thing to plug at lappy that dont have ps2?
make mkb to have the keyroll over thing?
*
That is a ps2 to USB adapter.

Though, most modern boards now come default with USB, so it is useless.

If you indeed do need it, go for branded or simple one. GH once recommend 2, which is blue cube and belkin, of which both are hard to be found locally. If your board is SS7G, you can use the default adapter to make it USB.

Again, invade you don't know, those adapter at the best only make it 6kro (if the board do come with nkro on ps2). Don't get the one on your link as it having some ghosting/sticky problem.

i also donno.. some reviews say need ps2 only can get NKRO leh... if usb only few key roll roll haha
*
Few years ago, the world are stuck with the ps2 nkro, USB 6kro phenomena. That means that a nkro board will only reach 6kro if you use adapter to USB (such as ss7g), the same also apply for default USB connection board (like filco)

As the technology getting more advanced, keyboards with >6kro or even nkro popped out in the market, and ppl no longer need to concern ps2 or USB. Such keyboards include ducky, Leopoldo, china boards and some gaming boards.

My Vortex is only USB sad.gif

If a board can support nkro (under ps2), then you adap using ps2 adapter can achieve nkro.

Should i try? I found a cheap USB to PS2 adapter near my place

The lack of info abt my keyboard on the net is quite disturbing
*
Since kbt ONI is quite similar to filco, I assume it will follow the specs of filco - usb6kro,ps2nkro

How do i know though? hmm.gif

Cause theres no manual given, not to mention i cant find it online as well

Is the Poker 2 NKRO?
*
I think you simply check how much kro your board support under USB. Aquakeytest is a good tool.

If it come out 6kro or more, then I bet it had high chance to be nkro under ps2. Though, there are also some oddities to the rule above, that those board simply can't be adapted into ps2 (such as BW, deck and some more).

You mean your Ducky can't work with ps2 adapter? I guess Ducky dropped support for ps2 after they opt for USB NKRO. Their models without USB NKRO should still had ps2 support.

I thought ONI come with USB?

USB to ps2 adapter is quite cheap, RM2-5 should be able to find. But I not sure which shop still got it.

So far from googling, i saw it said 6KRO on USB and PS2

That was on Tiger Imports though

Ill take it that it doesnt support NKRO :/
*
I bet it will be NKRO if it do support ps2.

My bad, seems like ONI doesn't support ps2 at the first place...

Chunk out another RM200 for some china boards. Many China boards are capable to do that, even both USB and ps2 NKRO.

my plum 96 uses costar wire stabilizers, but the rattle is within acceptable range... last time I tried my friend's PLUM 104 (DECK clone), that one is even horrible..
*
Wow, didn't know plum also use the costar wire style stabilizer. How about other stabilizer such as shift or enter, also costar style?
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39685.0

Btw, I think the lubing part will still work even for costar style, so give it a try.

u need to see who is asking for lower price. sometimes this ppl are just low ballers to mess u up. do research on what 2nd hand price would be reasonable, and go with it.
*
+1, seriously RM220 for a 3week old filco with wire keypuller is really a steal, even if it don't have warranty.

Fixing the 2 switches also neither hard nor costly.

*
If you are play safe type, minimum need rm250, try to find cm storm QuickFile rapid or rosewill rk9000.

If you don't care too much, you can try to buy china boards from taobao, some of them cost less than rm200 shipped. The major downside of course is no warranty claim.

bro, mind helping me find black pbt caps with white fonts on taobao?
*
Pbt caps with white fonts? I can't recall if such things do exist (or the most, only some made by kbc, which by now probably EOLed already).

Also, I think lasered pbt is brownish in color, and easily got stained dirtier even further as you use.

So in conclusion, it is smarter to get either blank pbt (black color is extreme rare) or dye-subed lighter color pbt such as grey or blue of ducky.

how about this; http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10....&id=14011959835

it says black pom. is pom good?

originativeco sells abs double shot, but 60$ for abs...  sad.gif
*
POM is a durable material, some said it is even harder than pbt.

Though, different Pom by different manufacturers seems to differ in the feeling and texture.

Cherry's POM is slippery + oily
KBC's POM is nice and dry touch with middle surface roughness

Keycool and PLUM's POM I got no idea. Someone here do bought the Tusky function keys from keycool, so may be you can ask him for details.

Plum is using POM.

Different brands' having different characteristic, so can't generalize.
