Suddenly a question pop up in my mind, what color do you guys have blue, green, red, white, black or dark silver???? why you choose that color ??? doesn't look so dirty ??? or its the color of the car can look nice for longer time ??now there are only 3units 2nd hand Savvy that i found, green , blue & black !! hehe~ i do mind the color of the color ! just need your advice
*
When buy 2nd hand car...the condition of the car is more important than color. You pick the best condition car and can paint it purple if you like later.
laugh.gif

btw, after driving the Savvy for 1 week plus...compared to Myvi...the pick up is not as good as Myvi 1.3. Myvi still rules supreme in pick up power and engine quietness. You don't have to rev as hard to get the same speed and Myvi just get there faster than the Savvy. Also, when going uphill with full load, i can feel the Myvi got loads of oomp raring to accelerate even at 5th gear when i hit over 60km/h. With full load and uphill, the Savvy can feel losing power and not accelerating unless i press the pedal hard.

Of course, handling Savvy rules supreme...have some fun in the hilly areas before you reach the Mall (dunno what u call that hill...can link to Bank Negara also)...turn left and right very quickly and laugh at the Iswara behind trying to keep up. laugh.gif

Left 2 bars.Haha yeah lets see what happens after the first 1000KM service.Don't mind telling whats your current millage? I only drive to school and come back now clocked up to 300KM already.  biggrin.gif

Hmm for the nyeet sound i've never encounter any.I think you should get some grease instead of WD-40 where grease does not dry's up so fast.Well if you are free to come down Subang i can help u to apply it since im small size pretty thin and small size.

I've just tinted mine as well, got my car tinted last week in Puchong located behind Tesco i cost me RM 380 to tint the whole car.I only need to top up RM250 where the other RM150 was deducted from the Voucher given by my SA.The brand of the tint flim is Tint Master. sweat.gif  So far so good felt a little diffrence after tinting. nod.gif
Uh oh  thumbup.gif  Can still drive it to school for few rounds  icon_idea.gif
*
Current mileage is 500km++. Can book for 1st service already. Thanks for your offer thumbup.gif , i'll see how it goes. Maybe i'll just ask those guys at SC to do it for me.

But i wouldn't wait until last bar...also last two bars very funny...blink when there's still 2 bars. I topped up the petrol and it fills up to about 26.xx litre.

Currently fill with V-Power, seems like getting a bit better mileage...i seriously think Shell Green sucks. Gonna fill with BHP on next refill.

Ha-ha...last night i simply close eyes and spray underneath the clutch there...i guess must have kena the spot. This morning no squeaking sound already. I hope i didn't spray anything else i'm not suppose to spray....

Now i also noticed something...a screw or bolt behind the front disc break looks rusty!!! Do you spot any rusty bolts behind your disc brake? WTH....new car already got rusty bolts!

Well, it's not a big problem, but i'll mentioned it during 1st service. Make em change my bolt!! I wonder if this is cover under anti-rust warranty?

My Myvi also got some rust at door hinge...going to fix to complain that to P2 SC as well.

So no need to post the pedal pic...non silicone based lubricant spray is adequate already like WD40 and Double TT.

I'll post the pics of shock absorber struts - allen key type bolt is the newer version.

Try to clean the bolt - see if it's covered with red soil.

You shoud get at least 350-400 km per 25 litre for city driving. Continue to update us ur FC.
*
Yep, no need liao. Thanks anyway. thumbup.gif

I'll update the FC again when this tank of V-POWER finishes.

Added on August 29, 2007, 9:10 amGonna go for 1st service soon.

I'm thinking of using synthetic oil straight away....or should i start with semi first? How much is Ploton charging for full-synth oil? I'm thinking to buy my own oil and take there.

Any savvy owners here using full-synth??

Called my SA today and asked him whether can bring my own oil to use. He says "can", but advise to talk to the SC advisor when i'm there. AFAIK, the manual only says must meet the 10W/30 SJ standard or void warranty. As long my oil can meet this standard, should be ok right?

But i'm wondering if they'll blame...next time if ignition coil rosak also blame my own oil...sweat.gif...hmmm...it's much cheaper to get full synth oil outside than Plotong...

opps it's 7th month..you can try to ask the SC first if they allow outside oil to be used...I'm now on AMSOIL fully synthetic 10W/30, already done 2km on this oil, didn't turn black although I'd used Mach 5 for 40 000km already..engine's still clean or flushing oil already had flushed out the dirt already.

You can mail-order from this guy for relatively unknown but established oil brands.
http://www.myoilstore.com

Caltex and Elf are too common, sold by spare part shops, probability of getting fake or repacked oil is there.

When using this oil, first cold start in the morning will shows the RPM increase to 1500 a while then before stabilize to 1200 for the auto choke function which is normal before go down to warmed up engine's rpm's 800. Shows that there's less friction after using this FS oil. My highest RPM when cold start is 1200 when using Mach 5.
*
You mean 2000km or 2km??? biggrin.gif

Now you pscyhe me into getting the AMSOIL...the petronas oil seems too thick and doesn't have 10W/30 for full synth (only 10W/40)....or maybe i go ENEOS shopping...but if SC reject my oil, then i would have waste $$$..

Any good place to suggest for my first service? Im staying in Subang and my house is very near to Proton in Taman Perindustrian wondering any of you guys went there for service before? My SA told me to go there for service smile.gif
*
Yep, at least for first 2 years...after that if not much problem, then just go outside. If u don't go back SC, anything major you can't claim...sweat.gif

but the full synth 10W-50 is too thick ler. Good for bigger CC engine, but i don't think cars below 1.3cc is suitable.

Anyway, i think there's 10W-30 for Synthium 800 also, maybe i just use this for 1st service and see how it goes.

Latest FC update:

Last tank of V-POWER gives me 14.58km/l. Not too bad, considering only 2nd tank and not even 1st service yet. Today pumped BHP.....i wonder if it'll gives the same mileage as V-POWER?

Well, i hope i can hit 16km/l after 1st service...smile.gif

jsut test drive savvy ysday..
very dissapointed with the sa...she gave us a 36 k amt savvy to drive saying that it is exactly da same as the std type..well i still accept it since i am already there.when i went into da car the fuel signal already start blinking.i told the sa she say no problem still can go very far..well..when i start the engine is still ok ..the steering is very hard dun seems lik power steering ..i was told b4 that this 36k savvy do not have power steering..but the sa justify that for a samll car lik savvy is best not to hav power steerign bcoz u can easily lost control..i was lik wtf...
welll...let me continue...so i try the car near the housing area coz da sa worry that we will bang her precious car...
with less than 4 min of driving,,,my friend who was driving complain that the car was very underpower..ha...with less than a sec da car completely left with zero fuuel...cant even move...and the funny thing is  da sa did not bring her bag or mobile phone..
i borrow her my phone..and guess wat she cant remember her office or friends or whoever number...thank god a taxi pass buy and we have to take a cab back to the showroom...so dissapointed with the sa..
when i ask her any question bout the car she was so blur simply answer me and say she will check for me...and so.so..she dun even know how to use the amt gear..i had to teach her back....ai....duno wat other comment i can give to this unprofessional sa
*
Ha..ha lousy SA. You can try my SA. He give good service even after sales(even offered to arrange to fetch me back to office when i go for 1st service thumbup.gif ). PM me if interested.

Anyway, just to clarify:
(1) the 36/37K savvy IS standard Savvy. This is after the discounted price.

(2) The SA knows nuts. All Savvy has power steering...hydraulic power steering to be exact...it's not the typical electric power steering. Yes, it does feels heavier but actually there's pros and cons. Heavy steering will feel steady when driving at high speed while light steering will be twitchy at high speed. With the handling capability of the Savvy, a heavier steering is better suited. If you want to know what no power steering means, test drive a VIVA 850/660 and try to turn from stationery position (etc: traffic light stop).

(3) Underpower? What are you comparing against? 1.5 or 1.6 car? This is a 1.15cc car (yes, it's not 1.2..only 1149cc..Proton lied), so cannot expect too much. Still, I can safely say it's more powerful than all the VIVAs i've tested. But it definitely lose out to Myvi 1.3 in terms of fast pick up. (but also cheaper by 6k to 7k)....or maybe the car just no fuel...so no power lor!!! biggrin.gif

As for zero fuel...wat to do...idiot SA...no cure.

just put down a deposit for the standard manual version, but the only downside was the SA did warned that this car if wanted be driving it for a long or not as as there isnt much of a resell value ... mentioned to me a 1 year old savvy lost bout RM11k of original car price ...

Added on September 9, 2007, 12:18 am
still the best "nippiest" car would be the kelisa ...
*
That's exxagerated. I'll say it's about 6 to 7K per year. Look at the bright side, a Gen 2 and Waja already lose about 30k and worth half the price after 3 years or so....Savvy is only 30k++++.....how much more can you lose? smile.gif

all variants of Savvy have power steering..

AMT Savvy underpowered? you gotta be kidding me. the Savvy is one of the nippiest small cars I've ever driven!

I don't know which is faster in initial pick-up, Savvy or Myvi, but Savvy is definitely no pushover.
*
I drive both. Myvi 1.3 wins in power and pick up, no doubt. Myvi can reach RPM and speed faster without needing to push hard and engine sounds much quieter. But Savvy is decent enough. When you pick up speed, it can trounce most, if not all 1.0 cars easily.

the 36k savvy is the new savvy without accesories ..
i am not sure which type is it..
the one i planning to buy is the 43k amt ...but the sa let me test the 36k..i duno wat is the different between this two except this one dun have power window, and tyre rim..

actually i am driving a 1.0 manual car without power streering also..i dun mind the power steering..
but the amt pick up power is really very lousy...

nvm i go test drive again someday when i am  free..cox that day i din really get to drive it..
*
Which 1.0 u drive? If you talk about P2 cars, i think most, if not all 1.0 variants are 3 cylinder engine. I dunno about u, but i just hate 3 cylinders...engine sounds very stressed and the whole car just feels like loud and can't describe it...like motorcycle....

Try to go at least 60km/h at windy roads with many turns and you'll appreciate the difference between the Savvy and most other small cars.

But if you like more power, i think u should consider Myvi 1.3 instead....everytime i drive Myvi, i just like accelerate and overtake everyone...LOL...so i let wife drive Myvi instead....too dangerous for me!

Or maybe should test drive Persona 1.6 @45k (if you're not worried about FC).

just wanna ask i tot savvy is also a 3 cylinder car..this is what i was told by my sa..

maybe i am too use to driving manual car thats why i feel the pick up power is weak..
but i total agree that kelisa has the best pick up power..is one of the fastest..
*
Fuiyo...ur SA super idiot. Savvy runs on Renault DF4 engine...4 cylinders and 16valves. Maybe he told you the Savvy runs on Kancil engine also!!! doh.gif

http://www.proton-edar.com.my/index.php?pa...tion=view&id=28

You should also try driving the manual version. But from my experience, there is very little difference between MT and AMT (unless you rev higher with MT).

Also, bear in mind, Savvy is much heavier at 950kg...also much safer and sturdier than a Kelisa or Kancil. I drive Kelisa before and yes it has good pick-up, but you can't run at high speed without feeling floaty and when you have full load going uphill, i think the Savvy will be a tad better.

Anyway, what's ur budget for ur new car?

As i was driving today, trafic light stop and i enggaged 1st gear ( mine manual ) and drove up a small hill as i released the clutch fully there a loud sound came out "krong" and the sound come frm the engine. Just right after the sound apear another sound come up which is the clutch pedal sound. When i pedal on the clutch there will be a sound like "krenk" wondering what the hell happen!! i just drove the car about 590KM only. Hmmm i got back home and sprayed WD40 on the clutch pedal and also some on the cable the sound still there.

Any solution guys?Damn it makes me worry =( just 3 weeks old car got this kind of sound.Help needed from u guys.
*
This sound serious, better send back to SC and complain like hell......this sucks....does it happens almost everytime now?

Now my car got some noise...like plastic vibration...not sure where...it happens on and off. Still bearable at the moment and it isn't that loud, but annoying enough.....but really dissapointed with the quality....i don't have a single problem with my Myvi after 6 months, no noise, no weird vibration......P2 owns Ploton anyday in quality. Well, at least lucky for me, none of the problems are major....sweat.gif....

The sounds could originate from 3 possible places..

1. gear knob
2. sun visor
3 passenger's side seat adjuster (reclining inclining) position

Most complained by the owners.

At least we could reach the sources of those rattling sounds easily to eliminate them..unlike of those other cars.

My Savvy nearly 2 years parked under hot sun without porch roof..there's no single squeek or rattles from the  plastics or suspensions..apart from the the only rattling issue that I've experienced - on gear knob piece that I could solve easily myself when the car was still new...

You definitely whine a lot...you did complain about the LHS signal..you think those Beroktua cars any better? Most having worse issues than these.

Pity to have you as a fellow Savvy owner.
*
Well, count yourself one of the few lucky Proton owners. Reach the sounds easily to eliminate problems?? Even SC can't solve it. Maybe you should apply a job at Proton SC. I'm sure you'll do a better job then them. whistling.gif

And i pity blind fan boys who can't take an honest comment. So much for "An "Honest" Review of the Savvy".

Good comments=Honest. Bad comments=whining.

Grow up.

Driving like normal just that there's sound la when i press the clutch. He says if i really wanan make sure whats the problem tomorrow morning send to SC let them check. Any idea how much will they charge? he also added if can wait untill my first 1000KM. Currently mine runing at 600KM only.

There should be no charge for complain on defects, if they charge screw them kaw-kaw and threaten to write to media or say your father is the Star editor...LOL. But if it's not to loud or not too scary, you might wanna wait coz sending ur car to SC is a waste of time. I'll rather spend time doing something else.

About RM87.xx. Changed engine oil (Mach5), sealant ring, oil filter and viper washing liquid.

When u go for 1st service, tell them u want to use semi-synth oil and see what kinda response they give u, probably a different story from mine.

Btw, Proton-I-don't-give-a-fcuk still haven't reply to my enquiries regarding whether how semi-synth oil can void engine warranty. I'll give them one week before i take further actions...cannot let them go so easily.

Ya like keep blaming Proton for the fault of one customer service frontliner who didn't forward your complaints to the SC..if you prefer to be treated like a king, go buy a Maybach instead. The world does not revolve around you alone.

*
Personally, i think you're decent person going by the heaps of info you contribute at savoc (unlike that OTHER guy who does nothing but PRRFFFT), but your attitude is all wrong. This is not about being treated like a King. This is about CONSUMER POWER. Cars don't come cheap for Malaysian and it's this "tidak apa attitude" that makes Malaysia such a sucky unforward moving country...no point having 1st world infra when we've 3rd world mentality.

An indian friend (from India) once told me someone there sues the soap company becoz the soap didn't meet the specs in weight...and won.

I would also like to share some experience with you about being really treated like kings....i was in Denmark, Copenhagen (the city frankly looks lau-yah and nothing compared to the mega structures in KL). The flight was delayed that night and we were promptly whisked away by the flight steward to get some traveller packs, taxi coupons and send us to a nice hotel for another free night stay at ZERO cost (and i even used the hotel facility to surf web and send e-mails from my room which is chargeable).. The next morning, after a nice hefty buffet breakfast, we're whisked away in cabs using the coupons given to send us to the airport. And i wasn't even flying business class. If i'm stuck at KLIA due to a flight delay, i really doubt i can expect the same such service from MAS.

QUOTE(jVIPERs2 @ Sep 11 2007, 05:41 PM)
The City travelled from the Honda Malaysia office Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The route took them up Cameron Highlands situated about 1,660 metres above sea level, and then to Bukit Merah, driving at an average speed of 80 km/h in a normal manner, ie having the air-conditioning switched on during the drive, and luggage and spare tyre on board. The drive back to Honda Malaysia took place after a night's rest. Meant to simulate conditions similar to a vacation trip with friends or family, each car had four occupants besides a boot full of items. Honda Malaysia also took it a step further by filling the many interior utility spaces and holders with water bottles and tit-bits for the occupants. All four team members were required to drive pre-determined legs of the event to better reflect the different driving styles of car owners.

While the Savvy travelled all the 11 states in Peninsular Malaysia and included a stint along the East-West Highway up north as well as the winding and mountainous East Coast Highway. The final stretch of 400 kms was from Kuantan to Segamat in Johor, before cutting across into the North-South Highway to return to Proton's head office complex in Shah Alam. It's not stated by Proton what the cruising speed was though we believe that it would have been reasonable and that the driver did not switch off the air-conditioner. Anyway, the entire drive was followed by an independent witness (motoring journalist Albakry Salehuddin) who was satisfied with the manner in which it was done.

A point to note:
The Savvy used was a manual while the City's an auto...  sweat.gif

Also forgot to mention, CITY is what...40K more expensive??

Let's see, that means you save 1cents per km with City over Savvy( 7cents/km to 8 cents/km)...say u travel 25,000km a year..that makes..25,000 x 1 cents=RM250/year. So, say you use the car for 10 years...that saves you a grand total of RM2500...in 10 YEARS.

If you put 40k in bank at 3% interest per annum, by the end of 10 years, you get RM52,190.

Err...which option do you think is more $$$ saving? smile.gif

Not that i'm saying Honda City is bad...but comparing this too is just way out of league. Of course, if you're going to buy a car in almost same price range as Honda City ( say a Waja at 6xk, or a VIOS around the same price), then the FC saving of the City will plays a very important factor.(btw, i do like the City very much....in fact, much more than a VIOS or all the Proton Sedans).

Anyway, unless you're a frequent highway traveller, the savings is also much less...I don't see any real Savvy owners can even achieve close to those figures. So far my Savvy is around 14km/l...which i consider quite good for city driving already....hopefully it'll improve after a few more thousand km as the car is still new.

Have to agree with this wink.gif

the hill you mentioned is Bukit Tunku..

Savvy's handling is very very keng but still can't beat MyVi in terms of power + quietness biggrin.gif

I think i know where the noise came from..

Have you checked your gear knob?? My frens car always have this irritating noise so whenever i drive his car with a chick inside i have to hold the gear to prevent the noise..

but now i have fixed it edi..add some super glue..walaa biggrin.gif
*
I don't think it's the knob...sounds more like plastic or maybe windows?? It doesn't always happen though, i think at low gears more like likely, after car is smooth and at maybe > 70km/h, i don't hear it. I think it happens more often when i accelerate and change gear at low speed (gear 1 to 3).

Still i'll just check out the knob just in case....knob looks sturdy and solid though... hmm.gif

Then the gear knob is not the source of the problem..maybe you should find someone with ultra sensitive ears to find the source of the noise then laugh.gif tongue.gif

Maybe find a dog...anyone wants to borrow me his dog?? biggrin.gif

My friend's Savvy also have this same kind of problem...

His car is already near to 2 years old..but only managed to clock 305++ kilometres..

Every morning when i wanted to start the car, it took me around 2-3 times turning the key till the engine starts..I have off everything (a/c, radio)..and it also jerks @ 2nd gear if speed below 20km/h..

And just now when i parked the car b4 playing football, i noticed that the a/c fan didn't stop even though i have off everything...it took almost 5-7 minutes for the fan to switch off..any reason why this happen??

fyi, the car has undergone a major 'surgery' bcoz the engine jammed..my friend seldom uses his car, only drives it on weekend..and he never warm the engine every morning so the engine oil become so thick...Went for repair @ his friend w/shop to replace the cable plug, spark plug and cam..cost him around RM700 sweat.gif The cable plug itself cost around RM450 shocking.gif
*
Yeah...heard loads of this jerking crap issue. Mostly due to TB dirty...if not must be one of the sensors...TDC, O2, and a few other sensors. I sure hope i won;t have to face it...sweat.gif

I believe u refer to the ignition coil. That's a common problem with Savvy....should cost around RM380. But i got 5 years warranty... brows.gif

I think u should warm up ur engine at least 30 seconds every morning before u move the car. Also, leaving a car long while without using is bad...your friend should change the oil even before it's interval because it should be 3 months or 5000km interval (or 6 months or 10000km interval)....since the car is not used much, must change the oil even if the mileage interval is not reached.

My myvi haven't use for 3 days (over 2 very cold rainy days) and i have problem starting it on 3rd day.

although I am not a supporter of MAS, I don't think this is theright kind of bashing for it. I use to travel a lot, and mostly using MAS. I have been stranded in Istanbul/ Zurich/Dubai/KLIA and I got the same treatment from MAS. For KLIA, they give me Concorde Inn. I also stranded using other airlines, and the treatment given is the same, even with Biman (Bangladesh Airlines).

And I travel on economy.

Congrats on your Savvy, mine reaching 53K, and another 7K to go before timing belt replacement.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't been stranded in KLIA before with MAS, so i dunno lar...anyway, the point is, we should expect the same good service whether it's an airplane or a car manufacturer. We pay the dough, we are the customer and customer is always right. smile.gif

matrix, i had declined to take savvy cause of a bad SA. I changed to MyVi instead. but they just gave me rm150 tinted coupons. no other.

Haiya...pm me to get my Proton SA contact ler...very nice guy...my P2 SA on the other hand is average only...no after sales service at all.

I think it's not a good criteria to make a decision to buy a car just because of a bad SA (but no doubt, it does leave a very bad taste and impression). I've actually been to a few Proton showroom, tried about 4 or 5 savvys and deal with different SA before i pick to buy from my current Proton SA coz i think he's honest enuff and knowledgable enuff.

Anyway, i don't get much free stuff with my Myvi either...if u go dealer, then can haggle more, branch is usually very standard stuff. Try to see if they can give you full free service voucher for first 2 service, if not, try to haggle for additional free service(labor) coupon.
