FreeDOS mean she need to get and install OS herself.

You can get the S300 at RM9xx with W8 if you negotiate hard enough . It is good enough for her usage. Just add more RAM later if she multi-tab browsing a lot (unfortunately, it has only 1 RAM slot, so it mean she has to buy a (eg. 8G RAM stick ~ RM200) an swap out the 2G RAM stick.)

13" actually is where the expensive models sit Low budget models are in 14". Already listed most of the 13" and 14" within the budget.

FreeDOS is ideal for people who already has OS, or for student in higher education, eg., where they can get cheap legal OS.

if the N53 is working fine, then you should probably consider just getting a 256G SSD (~ RM600) and swap out the HDD, install the OS and app onto the SSD. Will give a new lease of life to the laptop.
Also add more RAM if your photo and video file size is large. 8G stick is ~ RM200.

the RAM is not for the access time, it's to reduce the use of swap file / scratch drive.
SSD will improve the file access time a lot.

Malaysia local set of Y510P is spec with i7-4700M.
GDDR5 is a type of VRAM used by higher end GPU. Bigger bandwidth compared with DDR3.
Malaysia set Y510P don't have mSATA port. So if you want SSD, swap it with the HDD.
