1. Preferred Brand: Any brand is fine XD First time buyer
2. Budget - Less than 2.5k
3. Usage - Mostly for GAMING, others will be school project, movies and skyping
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - normal moderate

Like my previous post I want to know the difference and if Lenovo G400S 1TB is good because the specs look superb!

Wah, a real girl laugh.gif I'm sure a lot of guys here will be interested in you tongue.gif
Anyway, for your budget, you can consider these instead:
14"
Acer V5-473PG-54204G50, i5-4200 + Nvidia GT740M +(1366x768;touch)@RM2299, 4GB, 500GB,W8 *no OD

Asus [Ultrabook]K46CB-WX060H, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 750GB, W8, 4-cell, OD

Lenovo Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty; colors: chocolate

Sony
Vaio SVF14218SGW, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2399[2.4kg], 4GB, 500GB, W8SL; colors: white/black
SVF14217SG, i3-3227U + Nvidia GT740M + (1366x768; touch)@RM2299, 4GB, 500GB, W8SL; colors:black/white/pink

Toshiba
Satellite L40-AS109Xb/G/W, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[Onkyo], 4GB, 750GB, 3 years local warranty; colors: Blue/gold/white

All these are better than the G400S, which is a budget notebook possibly with a few corners cut tongue.gif
Which one to choose really depends on you... perhaps a pink notebook from Sony? laugh.gif
*prices in RRP, negotible
*use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years~

TJ, what's the best speakers that you come across in current gen of laptops so far?
The Onkyo did not do much for me (too subtle I think for my peasant ears tongue.gif )
I like the JBL in Dell XPS and Lenovo Y.
The Harmon Kardon in HP also appeal to me hmm.gif

How extensive is your Matlab usage? Heavy 3D modelling? Unless it is very heavy, Intel HD4000 should be able to handle it pretty ok.
What is "light gaming"? Game titles please. This will determine if you need discrete Nvidia / AMD GPU.

HP got harman/kardon? hmm.gif

based on what I've tried so far, the harman/kardon speakers in high end Toshiba notebooks are always very impressive, even without a subwoofer thumbup.gif
Review has it that the JBL speakers in Dell XPS are good too, but too bad no more jor... same goes to the Bang & Olufsen in the Asus NX90.
Not too sure about the Dyaudio on MSI units but should be good~
Forget about Klipsch and Beats laugh.gif

I have a feeling Onkyo speakers are not good as well since even Illegear users are complaining about too much treble iirc hmm.gif

At the end of the day, I guess it doesn't matter also la... buy a harman/kardon soundstick III or a JBL creature and all the in-built speaker problems are settled tongue.gif tongue.gif

Preferred brand: Toshiba, Asus (any reliable brand, really)
Budget: below 3k
Usage: normal use. (assignments, internet, movies)
Preferred laptop/screen size: 13-14''

Additional preference
- light and long-lasting battery
- sound quality

I'm going to UK soon so I guess it will be best if they have international warranty provided as well?

I was wondering if there's Toshiba U840t in Malaysia?

Thank you guys!
