Hai, its me again biggrin.gif but this time its not for me, but my friend.

1) Brand - Anything
2) Budget - Maximum Rm1000
3) Usage - Works using Ppt, Excel and Word, watch movies, facebook games.
4) Screen size - Small (One that can be put inside handbag  sweat.gif )

She needs a lightweight laptop because she rides bus everyday.

Any insight is much appreciated! biggrin.gif

Since you did not specify what type of "work" you do, I'm going to assume just some MS Office stuff  hmm.gif

Asus
S300CA-C1050H, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768;touch)@RM1999, 4GB, 500GB, W8
A450CC, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT720M@RM2199[2kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; 4-cell
S400CA-CA006H, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB + (1366x768; touch)@RM2199[2kg], 4GB, W8
K46CB-WX060H, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[2kg], 2GB, 750GB, W8, 4-cell, OD

Fujitsu
LH532, i3-3110M + Nvidia GT620M@RM1599 [2.1kg], 2GB, 750GB, W8
LH532, i5-3230M + Intel HD4000@RM1599 [2.1kg], 2GB, 750GB, FreeDOS
LH532, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT620M@RM1749 [2.1kg], 2GB, 750GB, FreeDOS
LH532, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT620M@RM1999 [2.1kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8

FreeDOS mean you need to get OS yourself.
Prices are RSP, negotiable.
*
FreeDOS is better because by purchase and install the windows by ourselves... we have the box liscense copy and do not have those crapwares and bloatwares inside of the OS which is drop dead annoying

Yeah, gaming performance depends much on the graphic card anyway, so gaming performance would be more or less similar. However, do take note that Y510p comes with Nvidia Optimus, so you will get slightly more battery life, if tis important to you nod.gif
You can always downgrade, but its not really advisable as you might have problems finding drivers now, especially for newer laptop models.
And yes, you can swap the HDD with another faster HDD, or even SSD  brows.gif
He did mentioned he doesn't want Apple la bro laugh.gif
Newer generation ultrabooks will come eventually, although current ones are actually quite very capable of handling normal, everyday tasks ~
*
even same performance but new 4th gen can almost give you 50% more battery life.... i wondering if they can wait why they still get 3rd gen.... i guess the laptop slow intro 4th gen because still many 3rd gen laptop not yet sell..

If you can wait, the upcoming XPS13 will probably be the closest contender to the MBA13, as usual haha laugh.gif

Not sure what's the main reason for the slow in terms of update... maybe they are releasing batch by batch, targeting budget consumer units 1st  hmm.gif
*
because laptop market shrinking....

btw, y de glossy one more expensive than matte? coz if im not mistaken matte screen better than glossy rght?based on previous posts...
*
good quality glossy > low quality matte
good quality matte > low quality glossy

personally i like good quality glossy... i havent meet good quality matte to impress me how good a matte screen is... for me all the matte screen is blur screen....

QUOTE(arc x @ Aug 27 2013, 06:15 PM)
personally like matte , on zenbook prime or Samsung series 9 , the matte screen is superb too .

Why I like matte :

1) NO!! reflection
2) Smoother surface
3) Less visible dust (I hate to see dust on my screen)
4) Confortable to my eyes (this depends)
*
1. good quality glossy no reflection also
2. not understand this... you say like this because is easier to clean?
3. less visible dust = dust still there = because matte screen less crisp... so not so visible...
4. agree... depends on individual...

but i agree your Zenbook UX32VD got wider viewing angle and better outdoor performance... because i also have zenbook prime ux31a (my gf using)
