It's definitely not. Even the smooth groove that's kind to your fingers feel like really sharp edge when being rub against my ears.

my piston also just came in, plug into Magni, and bass has better control, vocal is quite veiled, treble is acceptable, oh, just forget about soundstage, there isnt much width

The vocal sucks big time. I really don't know what junk did people bought for RM200 nowadays that piston2 actually sounds good to them?

Update:

I went ahead with the filter mod since I was unimpressed with the sound since the beginning.

The pros?

1. Bloaty bass almost all gone.
2. The veil is removed from the vocal. Clarity improve a lot.
3. Brighter sounding now

The bad?

1. Instrument separation which is unique is almost, if not totally gone.
2. Can be harsh sounding sometimes.

If you asked me, I prefer the sound now. The original sound is like you added a LME49720 opamp kinda sound. Now the effect is a lot less but I prefer it.

lol overkill much?

Surprisingly SQ is quite good, way above the retail price. However i found the sound flat (not the sound signature) and lifeless compared to IEMs above the RM200 range

Hahaha... Its really a hype.

Good, no doubt, but only because of the price.
There are plenty of options if you can pay full price. I didnt spent few hundreds or thousands on buying headphone but even so, I really felt it was so-so.

for android phone mobile listening, yes, it's real good, vol control works, along with mic as skip song control

for some better listening experience, you know me, I would kill you if you go for this purpose

I own the soundmagic e10. Those rm135 IEMs are indeed magic. The piston 2.1 is too bassy and low trebles imo. Perhaps need to give it time to break in before the final verdict can be given. My wife loves bass heavy IEM's so i happily passed them to her. She said its definitely better than her samsung phone earphones. Good price value nevertheless la but i advice u read up reviews on the E10.

So I finally got mine. Initial impressions were horrible. They sounded like farting bass with mids about to disappear and highs totally missing.

Fixed the pistons with meelec biflanges. Sounds a lot better but still felt like woofers in front of my face.

I sealed off the back vent entirely and now the mids came forward and bass is controlled. No more bass bleed.

Verdict = Very enjoyable and well worth the RM50 if you have the right tips and back vent totally sealed(or pinhole mod).

Someone linked this seller at T mall: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=p4137...ene=taobao_shop

Is this legit?

I'm in Australia right now that's why I couldn't order from Xiaomi Msia directly or Ebay/Amazon.

Hi guys, saw something interesting in the review of Xiaomi Pistons on lowyat website..

I quote Andrew Tan :

China edition came with much clearer vocal with balance bass without distortion.
Malaysia edition somehow over bass and can notice vocal being cover sometimes with sligh distortion when full volume...

How true is this? Hmm..the no Chocolate smell is already one thing that makes me suspect our version of Pistons
