It is too early you consider about Altera.
Start to consider only when Altera gives you an offer.
If you got both, definately Altera is better. I can list down some of their benifit:
1) book allowance 500 per year
2) stock option
3) rather flexi working hour
4) depends on dept, but very rare most of the time, you don't have to work late
5) Travelling, but depends on your jobs function
6) Free Oreo similiar biscuits in the canteen, and free flow of milo & coffee (DIY)

But sounds to me that you are not from Engineering background (doing FPGA etc), thus you can omit (5)

i got jobstreet offer already, but altera pass first interview and waiting for their call.

well, jobstreet is doing web base system, they offer me a job that working in R&D department for maintaining and research about jobstreet's online system.

i get a call from jobstreet and i told them i'm still considering about altera, and she(a job consultant) tell me that altera got high pay but very few exposure and software tools they use are just for their own product, so if u want change company, it's quite hard for u because you only learn c/C++ for their product.

she continues to mention that jobstreet is different, they will send me for training, expose to new technology, and is not like working in a factory and keep coding only.

so you guys think what she said is true? actually i can work with c/c++ or .net as well coz i know both of them. And now the problem is regarding my future i think once i step into either, there is no turning back for me. and i have to keep moving onward on the particular language.

I worked in JobStreet, R&D dept. before. and then I work in a MNC comp.
so, I guess I am qualify to answer your question smile.gif
what the job consultant told you is abosolutely true! the R&D lead in jobstreet is a cool guy, he is super well versed in programming.

MNC:
after I joined MNC, I really can see the diff of getting hands on experience in difference tool and technology. you know lah, big company... rules and regulations here and there, bureaucracy.. so if you wanna develop something or do something with certain tools... always have to inline with dept. direction. by the time you had a chance to touch on SQL Server 2005, people already use Service Pack 3 or 4 smile.gif
ya... you may get a chance to travel once in a while, but you are still young and jes junior entry, no rush lah.

If you really like programming and wanna brush up your skills.. go for JobStreet.
by the way, jobstreet programmers are full of young dudes now.. quite a fun place to work I believe.

aha.... i knew you will ask me why I change from JStreet to MNC smile.gif
well, the reason is quite simple, I love branded company, the salary is higher and I love travel after working for some time.

2 years... i think optimistically.. you can expect a 9-11% increase. thats a normal practice, unless they really lost their revenue.
so, after 2 years, you may get ~3K.

JStreet is listed nowadays, I am not sure how the employee purchase the option. you can check out with them, any other benefit or bonuses.

if you have a degree,
MNC can offer you at least 2.4-2.8K
Altera offer more cause they dont have bonuses, am I right?
JobStreet is not MNC, but they do offer good deal.

altera do give bonuses for 2 months actually their base salary is 2900 + 500 is bonus, it's not allowance i misunderstood.

hey u see altera give 3400 from job start even they din increase the salary for 2 years i think for working in jobstreet, salary after 2 years also cant reach 3400 la right?

so in term of salary, sure rugi lor if go jobstreet? ? can i say like this?

Altera pay is pretty high. The monthly salary includes your annual, contractual bonus (divided evenly in 12 months). As for benefit wise, it's not bad either. Altera will be my choice if I were you.

the job consultant keep saying the jobstreet have better expose but altera not. and salary increment in jobstreet is faster. what you guys say about this?

as i count, if i work in altera for 3 years without increment is 3400x36=122400;

for working 3 years in jobstreet i assume in 2nd year my salary is 2800 and 3rd year my salary is 3400, all togehter : (2500x13)+(2800x13)+(3400x13)= 113100

see it's still lower than what i get in altera. then what benefits jobstreet has? salary sure altera wins.

looks like your priority for the time being is salary. i can sense that you are pretty much prefer Altera.
of course, pay wise.. JStreet sure a bit lower compare to a many years MNC.
but, let me jes remind you that, you daily job scope, ppl around you, working environment... all this have to take into consideration. a few hundreds bucks wont compensate all this, at least for me.
and again, if you really wanna brush up your programming skills, go for JStreet.

anyway, its up to you to pick. else later, you blame us... biggrin.gif
so, make up your own mind....

by the way, who interviewed you in JStreet and Altera?

i have got the job offer from jobstreet, the guy interviewed we is at cyberjaya branch forgotten his name already.

for altera i only pass first interview, and they have asked me to go for onsite interview.

why i'm so desperate because jobstreet want me to confirm with them early.

^Maybe you'll be dealing with more web and high level programming at Jobstreet than at Altera.
