i got jobstreet offer already, but altera pass first interview and waiting for their call.

well, jobstreet is doing web base system, they offer me a job that working in R&D department for maintaining and research about jobstreet's online system.

i get a call from jobstreet and i told them i'm still considering about altera, and she(a job consultant) tell me that altera got high pay but very few exposure and software tools they use are just for their own product, so if u want change company, it's quite hard for u because you only learn c/C++ for their product.

she continues to mention that jobstreet is different, they will send me for training, expose to new technology, and is not like working in a factory and keep coding only.

so you guys think what she said is true? actually i can work with c/c++ or .net as well coz i know both of them. And now the problem is regarding my future i think once i step into either, there is no turning back for me. and i have to keep moving onward on the particular language.

I worked in JobStreet, R&D dept. before. and then I work in a MNC comp.
so, I guess I am qualify to answer your question
what the job consultant told you is abosolutely true! the R&D lead in jobstreet is a cool guy, he is super well versed in programming.

after I joined MNC, I really can see the diff of getting hands on experience in difference tool and technology. you know lah, big company... rules and regulations here and there, bureaucracy.. so if you wanna develop something or do something with certain tools... always have to inline with dept. direction. by the time you had a chance to touch on SQL Server 2005, people already use Service Pack 3 or 4
ya... you may get a chance to travel once in a while, but you are still young and jes junior entry, no rush lah.

If you really like programming and wanna brush up your skills.. go for JobStreet.
by the way, jobstreet programmers are full of young dudes now.. quite a fun place to work I believe.

as i count, if i work in altera for 3 years without increment is 3400x36=122400;

for working 3 years in jobstreet i assume in 2nd year my salary is 2800 and 3rd year my salary is 3400, all togehter : (2500x13)+(2800x13)+(3400x13)= 113100

see it's still lower than what i get in altera. then what benefits jobstreet has? salary sure altera wins.
