Updates on Oren...

Sighhh, memang he got fever... He was incredibly warm on Friday after returning from work, touch his ears also can feel... I told my husband, I don't think this is normal punya warm...

Then I took him to the vet on Saturday morning. Doc took the temperature and said his fever quite high actually... 41.1º... Normal cat temp 38-38.5º only...

Kena 2 injections to reduce the fever within 24 hours. 1 ubat demam and 1 antibiotic... Then got some pills to give him for a 3 days span...

Doc said dunno why he has fever cuz overall he is very healthy. If after the meds, he still not okay, then mebbe have to do blood test...

However, that night itself he started to recover, was pretty much himself back, active and naughty doh.gif

Will post some pixs of what he did after he was feeling okay...

Gave me a headache lar si Oren... Told him, "you ahh, seems like every 2 weeks wanna go see the vet..." And it is like that ooo... Next 2 weeks gotta see the vet again for his final booster and deworming doh.gif

The vet I go to is called PetCare at Taman Melawati.

Quite near to my place and the price is reasonable enough.

I've made it Oren's official vet lah cuz nearby, easy and they have kept Oren's record since the first visit smile.gif

Yesterday kena RM36.50, 10 consultation, 20 for 2 injections and 6.50 for the pills for 3 days... I thot kena RM50 over... But the charges are quite okay smile.gif

The MediVet near my office, consultation aje dah RM30.00 sweat.gif

I used to just bathe Oren with lotsa baby shampoo and really warm water... The flea will fall off, but very little, it will not remove them totally...

Then I used Frontline, one time treatment, everything gone already.

I think no choice lah, for permanent result, have to use a something to treat it...

Rather you spend a few bucks on a non-guaranteed result method, better spend RM36.00 on a bottle of Frontline that can last you for years (for one cat)... Even the medicated fleas collar will cost you RM20-22...

Some shampoo will work if the flea is very little, but if dah banyak, it's still not a guarantee... A good flea shampoo will cost around RM15-19...

Ohh, perhaps you can get a Frontline and share it with someone? Or check with the vet for a one time Frontline treatment, how much will it cost...

kesian ur cat u rendam her in the water how does she react ...poor cat..
my cat dun even dare to step on water...very troblesome when wanna bath her she sure try to run away and be very fierce

i think u buy a small boottle of fontline to spray on her ...cheaper..
if u stiill wanna save bring her to a vet one spray btw 20-25..then the vet will advice u to bring her in every month for the spray...
i still preder to buy one bottle and spay her m,yself...

RM36.00 is the smallest Frontline bottle dy.

Serenayap, normally cats will put up less fight if the water is warm. If it's just normal cold tap water, all cat will run havoc one wink.gif

Haha, dunno how to teach here exactly, but a lot of calm talking is a must too tongue.gif

(Oren's bathing story...) Normally, I prepared the warm water first, then pick him up into the bathroom, pour a little warm water first onto him to let him know that the water is not cold. All the while holding him firmly.

Then quickly pour some shampoo and start massaging. Normally when massaging warm water and shampoo, it's very comforting for him and he will kindda relax a bit... After making sure the shampoo has reached all places, then rinse it with warm water again.

Then I will wet my hand and wipe his face and clean his ears.

When all is done, wrap him up in a clean towel, give him a good cuddle while drying him up wink.gif

aiks, guess the only alternative i've avoided IS the only option. so where can i get frontline? i live at sunway and non of the pet shops around sunway has it.

bathing wise, u shld try wearing one of those blinds over ur cat. it's helps a whole lot easier. after that, give her some treats, some belly rub and hugz.

Frontline, get from any vet smile.gif

Some pet shops won't have it, some will mark up the price. Vet is the safest, standard small bottle should be 36.00 or less if they are kind enough smile.gif

Read the label carefully and follow it step by step smile.gif

It's really concerntrated, sticky, but you can touch it and wash your hand immediately after using it.

Leave it till dry. Bathe your cat only after 3 days of the treatment smile.gif

oh yeah the one in garage sales is spot on. I prefer spot on. Because non of my cat like the spray thinggy, and they will lick the body straight away, and i will see saliva come alot from the mouth. i do not like to do any harm to my cats, you know, cat really sensitive, when u shout, high your voice, slap, do things they dont like... they will keep it forever. my cats hate that water spray sound so much. I rather use the spot on to make it clean all the way, and it works with my 10 cats at home.

killing fleas on your cat is not the only solution. You home need a clean too.. no use if u use frontline but your house still have fleas. the carpet, wooden floors, etc.. clean all that with home fleas spray (can get at vet), and always vacuum your carpet. When the fleas smell something fishy on your cat skin and fur, they will find other places like carpet to lay eggs.

always bath your cat... maybe once a week when he/she have heavy fleas. if u already use frontline, no need to use fleas shampoo... dont make your cat carry too much fleas killer chemical.

so cleaning both will do the best solution. if u have outdoor and indoor cat.. get the spot on frontline, put it at the back of the nect (on the skin, not fur).

found the thread in garage sale as well. the seller is loc at sunway so it's even easier for me. maybe i could put on the trumpet thing on her after i applied frontline?

cleanliness wise, i always clean the house once a week, sweep, mop etc etc... im the house maid ok lol. i bath the spoiled little princess once a week, or mayb twice. she's strictly a indoor cat and that raises the question, where did the fleas came from. hmmm, strange indeed. do sugar gliders carries fleas? cos my other housemate recently adopted a sugar glider.

not sure if sugar gliders carry fleas or not...

sound like u have a good hygiene over there. have u ever send your cat for boarding? grooming out? or maybe to the vet for few nights?
